We’ve all been very glad to see the first Apple Silicon Macs... but they’re definitely not the first Apple Silicon *apple products*. So today we’re going to look at the product that is. The first generation iPad introduced by Steve Jobs in 2010

The iPad works amazingly the box came a little dirty, kzbin.infoUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA no plastic wrap, but the box was sealed and had everything else in the box along with the wrapping, the iPad itself is gorgeous, I got the yellow 64g game storage is good for me along with Socials and school stuff. No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!

I bought my parents this as a Christmas present back in 2010. They still have it, and it still works! I knew they wanted something portable, that had a good screen for showing off digital pictures. The iPad was by far the best item on the market for that purpose, and still performs that task today. I knew they would never get full potential out of it, but I also knew from experience that my other options were digital picture frames, and those had awful touch screens that were unresponsive, and even worse resolution. The iPad prepared them for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 they have today. I remember all the negativity about this product, but my parents were very glad to have it at that time.

My first iPad was the 4th generation top of the line model with max memory and cell service from Sprint. While I've never used a first gen Ipad, I've had a lot of experience with the iPad 2. My school got a big donation of them back when I was in 8th grade and gave each of us one to use for the year. While that was really nice in a lot of ways, the problem was that they wanted us to use them as laptops and they just really weren't cut out for that. That Ipad was how I learned to use ios though, which definitely came in handy once I got my first Iphone!

Bought an iPad 1 16GB/GSM early 2011. Still have it and use it at least weekly for listening to podcasts. The iPad 1 dampens the sound less than the tighter glued ones, and I think it sounds (and looks) great when mounted on a keyboard dock. I still sync it to my Mac (via WiFi), so I get notifications on it too! Next was a 4, and then a mini 2.

My Dad has this iPad, he bought it when it first came out, and he still uses it, it works fine, the battery life is shortened of course and the OS is a bit old but it still does the job! This brings back so many souvenirs! I, on the other hand, had the 3rd generation iPad, it also still works, even though the storage is full and it crashes a lot but I'm attached to it, because it was my very first iPad, even before I had an iPhone or any smartphone! I actually watched this video on my iPad Pro 11 and I used the iPad 1st gen back then for about 5 years. I really liked the design and I appreciate it even today, the todays iPad seems to me as the real successor to the 1st gen in terms of design. The problem with 1st gen iPad was mainly its 256mb ram. Even in that time I was able to emulate windows 98 and some dos games and even was able to have Mac grade control above the filesystem since jailbreak and iFile made it quite capable device overall. Mine died because of the display cable. I did not treat it that well, it fell from time to time but I always smile when I remember it :) The battery life even after several years of usage was very usable at least, the screen was bright enough, the speakers were also quite capable. It had GPS, 3G connectivity and several other things that iPod doesnt have. You could even call from it if you installed some tweaks from cydia. Thanks for your great video :)

I have just discovered I still have mine. I used my iPad as a instant preview display for Photography and social event clients. It was paired with an eye-fi SD card and initially I had to jailbreak it to work. It totally blew peoples minds in 2010 that I could transmit images wirelessly from Camera to iPad within seconds. I really enjoyed seeing peoples reactions. On photo shoots having a wireless tether was great as I could get feedback without lugging a laptop. I’ll probably repurpose mine as a movie player or as a digital photo frame.

So cute! I still have mine for the old iBooks app. The bookshelf is beautiful and turning the page is fun and very cute. I put it in sepia color and downloaded every Dickens Book I could find. Reading Bleak House now, all these years later! Best iPad EVER for reading! All the old classics are FREE in iBooks! I miss the old apps and icons. I burned my Dickens Movie Collection and loaded it to watch on this iPad. I also have some songs from the era It's Victorian Era Content is perfect for this cute iPad. It's on an iMac like stand in my living room. Kind of a themed relic which I really enjoy using to this day. My battery lasts for weeks if not months.

We still have both of our first gen iPads and iTouch. They both still work (slow, but work and still hold a charge!) I still use the Touch for my music library.

Still using my original iPad, although it’s not updated any more and is no longer any good for you tube. No complaints about reliability.

Hey Luke, you just gave me a new iPad Air! (Sort of...) A year ago a co-worker gave me a completely dead 32GB iPad Air. I fiddled with it for a while and gave up. But you just mentioned DFU mode... looked it up... tried it... and it worked! Kinda happy right now... thanks!

Watching this on a 16GB iPad Air 1. It’s not bad, but the latest version of KZbin doesn’t support iOS 12. I have had a constant war with storage issues for basically as long as I’ve had it, so 4 years. I got it because my first gen iPad mini suddenly popped up with Activation Required, i was unsuccessful in getting past the iCloud lock. The battery is slightly above average, but it can get pretty hot on the back, but not like my 6s+. You could probably fry an egg on the back of that thing if you had been playing Minecraft while it was charging. The battery on there is gutter trash, you could play a game at 100%, half an hour later, if even that, it would give you a low battery alert. The battery health is 78%, so it actually does need to be replaced. Back to the iPad Air, well, I actually had to have the screen replaced because I dropped the iPad onto concrete and it completely shattered everywhere. There was even a hole in the top near the front facing camera. I still have the sticker of my iPad model from when it was replaced. But I think, there was a long term symptom: dead pixels. I first noticed two in fairly close proximity to each other. Now i think theres one by the number that tells you your battery life left. I think some more might have appeared over time. Theres also plenty of other impurities and scuffs, scratches, and little dents. This iPad has been through a lot. It still works pretty well. iOS 12 runs decently. It’s tough to wager whether iOS 13 would be the same. You could probably install ios 13 on here if you jailbreak, which I unsuccessfully tried to do. Hopefully it wouldn’t be a matter of stuff like ipod 4 ios 7: it just freaks out and enters dfu mode. It takes just a small amount of nagging to get it charging. It takes forever to charge. But you should be okay if you don’t use it all the time like I’m guilty of doing. It should last the day or two with little issue. If you’re using this thing, I’d recommend putting it on airplane mode 24/7 (you can still have WiFi enabled with airplane mode on.) Putting it on airplane mode makes it charge twice as fast. I read that and it was for phones, but iPads probably do the same thing. Long comment again.

My mom had the first gen iPad. It was great but by the third year it was pretty slow. It was pretty cool, though. Funny how the squared edges made a comeback!

First iPad pro 12,9” is still excellent. I have been using it since 2014 and it is still fast, strong and battery keeps up well. My model is 128gb WiFi + Cellular and with original smart keyboard. Only bad thing is that it is little heavy. And keyboard buttons has not lights

I remember joking about the iPad just being a “big iPod Touch” like a lot of people back then. That was until I used one in an Apple Store and the thing honestly felt like magic. Seriously, holding a massive touch screen like that for the first time, there wasn’t anything like it. I remember thinking that skeuomorphic UI at the time made it feel very different from a traditional computing experience, like the contact book and calendar apps actually looking like digitized versions of the real thing, with lots of fun animations and transition effects (many unfortunately removed with “The Flattening” post-iOS 7) that you usually wouldn’t see on a desktop. Definitely felt like the future. Did it live up to it’s potential? I’m not sure. It feels like the richness of those tablet UI’s back then have taken a step back as flat design and universal apps became a thing. More and more 3rd party apps feel like blown up phone apps. I can’t think of many mainstream apps doing innovative designs like Twitter’s old panel UI that we saw in the early days of the iPad.

I recently bought my elderly mother a 64 GB Cellular iPad 1 so she could use its Photo Frame feature. She's in a nursing home & needs a simple-to-operate digital picture frame. I have loaded approximately 1500 scanned photos onto it.
