Great loco and great livery! Shame about the issue but hopefully you have all fixed now. Bought one of these myself for £20 recently and still need to test, will need to keep an eye out for this same problem!

Lovely looking machine, Sam, despite the damage. She looks fine running, and runs well, too :) The new cam's doing a great job along with your angles. Thanks for the enjoyable update :) All the best...Tom

Tom jenssen Thanks again Tom, glad you liked seeing the loco - off to a model convention at the weekend so should come back with a few more review subjects if I get lucky! Cheers, Sam

Hi Sam. Nice loco. A nice quiet runner indeed. The coaches are quite nice as well! Cheers, Glenn.

Hi mate, thanks very much - really glad you liked her! Her chassis has since given up the ghost - and I've replaced it for a 80s chassis - much more reliable! All the best, Sam :)

Just bought one in mint condition mate. Great runner too. This has to be one of the best locos Hornby made back then. Livery is excellent.

GWR23 Studios Yeah, they're great locos for any layout and seem to run quite reliably - I've taken this one apart so many times though due to pickup problems - touch wood she's okay now :) Cheers, Sam

I have the same in black, no. 2328, with the suburban limited edition box. Agreed with you, a brilliant runner, but with only one setback : completely untolerant to poorly-laid track. The rear boggie tends to jump and foul if your track is not well laid and your fishplates not correctly set in place. I do not consider this as an problem, because I use this engine to test my trackage this way.
@SamsTrains4 жыл бұрын
Sounds good Oliver - and you're right about that, they are very sensitive models, I've noticed similar things! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Quick question Sam....do you find the quality of locomotives have improved or....in the interest of economy....gotten worse over the years?
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
I'd say locomotives have become more fragile over the years, but not necessarily because of a decline in quality. Have some recently produced models been poor quality? Sure! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hi Sam , always did like the red livery of the LMS loco's and yours looks just the part with the LMS carriages . I do know that Hornby do a very good linkage repair on such engines and at a very reasonable cost but sounds like you will probably have a go yourself . Cheers.....Peter.
@SamsTrains9 жыл бұрын
Peter Shaw thanks a lot, I might give it a go but could always send it to hornby failing that! Thanks again, Sam

Lovely loco. Question. Does the locos when in storage get stiff. Is it just as important to run the locos as it is to service them
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Boss! Yes they do get stiff if they've not been run/serviced for a year or two - but regular maintenance should fix that! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hi Sam, she runs very well. I wonder if it's a factory repair job for the missing rods on this loco ? Looks fiddly and delicate on this occasion. Regards, Cliff.
@SamsTrains9 жыл бұрын
janiceandcliff Hi! It's certainly going to be fiddly, I could probably do it if I took everything off and started again on that side, I've done it once before with a steady hand and a bit of patience - but I really don't like doing it! I'll let you know if I have any luck! :) Cheers, Sam
