Yes I did have a friendly rant about the packaging. Would have been cool to get it as well presented as the standard buggies. However this kit is still amazing and never released before. Got mine today and couldn’t be happier. Proper vintage race buggy with a ton of history.

Nice kit. From my experience, high end Kyosho racing cars have the most basic packaging, i own several high end Kyosho nitro and electric cars years ago and their basic packaging is consistent. Just my opinion. Thanks for posting.

Liking the parts-bin, prototype look and feel of this one, including the way that its packaged. Similar vibe to how the Fantom 1/12 pan cars are delivered. Awesome video, thanks for posting and congrats on getting your hands on one of them!

I think it was a rush release as the 60th Fantom CRC-2 sold so well and Kyosho wanted to do another 60th kit before the end of the year. That's why the box presentation was missing I'm guessing. We will have to see how many units Kyosho put out into the market but I did hear 1500 as well.

Box presentation ? Who cares ! Here is a replica released by the original manufacturer of the 1987 World Champ ! They even went to the detail of using graphite instead of carbon fibre

Great release and will be building it. I admit no excuses to join into some racing. Definitely something I’m aiming towards in 2024 once I finish my masters Degree. I hardly get time to buy or build an RC at the moment with study, working full time and on call and with a new addition to the family and throw in my other interests and investments.

When Dan Rowlands restored Joels 87 Ultima he had MCI Racing replicate the stickers and the painted stripes so he could provide a new body for it, since then there's been lots of replicas around as it's easy to reproduce. The Tomahawk body fits over the standard Ultima chassis so you don't even need to fit one of the repro chassis to get the look.

If it's supposed to be a very limited edition, I would be more concerned if it did come with blister packaging. That would imply Kyosho had spent a load of money producing a mould for a blister which they supposedly are only going to use for a thousand or so times then throw away. Being used to modern race kits, everything just thrown in the box is fairly standard these days.

While i like the big kyosho boxes the smaller boxes have some advantage, less room needed to store all the boxes. i like the wheels, hopefully they are available as spare parts so i can have multiple wheel sets.

The front wheels are Tomahawk, the rears are Turbo Optima so you would just need to dye them to match, like the original fronts were. My replica has them dyed with the correct owls litespeed dye as they came from the batch of wheels from the restoration of the original. Or you can get 2.2" size replicas from JC Racing so you can run modern tyres.

When ordering from Hong Kong, do you need to ask them to remove the oils and grease, etc before shipping? Or is that only when you order from Japan?

Yes definitely the packaging you would expect to see in a true racing kit. After the video is did realise this could be a craft move by Kyosho to release a limited edition kit, but given no actual limited numbers or details about how many were made then makes me believe it should be built and driven and not be a Pretty NIB kit

Dunno where in HK you got it and cheaper prices than here in Aus, I checked some places in HK for it and prices were $100 more than the Aus prices I have seen then you gotta add postage to that too.. So Just have to wait to see what happens with the Aus pre orders, IF I manage to get my hands on one or not.

I purchased the only kit AsianTees hobby shop had. Much cheaper than other HK stores! It landed to my door cheaper than the quoted pre order Aus prices I was quoted. I guess I was lucky. I agree postage can be a killer on overseas postage

Yeah for that level of presentation and lack of display quality I a glad I did not try and get one. Like you indicated, you bodge one together to be close enough and not be in the fight for a limited edition kit. I was a god idea but somewhat a lackluster effort by them. I am sure they will be selling for silly money soon on eBay regardless!
