Thats what I want to know, does this have the upgraded valve guides??? Or do I have to tear down a brand new engine day 1 and have new guides put in.

I have heard that you can have valve guide wear issues...due to the high lift. I'm not sure if this is true or not. I want to put this in my 68 Camaro, I have a 350 in her now. I'm not sure if this is reliable route or not. I could go also go with the regular 427 short block the old school type of engine. I'm torn on which 427.

Does gm sell this as a short block with wet sump oiling system and low profile pan.i see alot of questions on valve drop issues on ls427.did they upgrade the valve guides on the new wet sump crate engines..

Rumor has it, no they have not changed the issue with the valve guides on this engine.

@@jp8ch well that is just a bummer ey? Is it better to get this one? get the heads done or find a used ls7? or get the regular crate ls7 505hp? get the head done on that thing?

Lance Reyes Romero if I was you and wanted to go the LS7 route, just find yourself a used Ls7 for a decent price and send the heads off to get fixed. Or I actually have a LS7 already fixed with Texas Speed performance shop did all the work, CNC ported new guides valves everything the works, I also did the Texas Speed 2.5 performance cam, long tube headers and swapped the rockers with bronze items to fix all that problem. Engine is from a 2008 Z06 with 22,850 miles on it. I put it back in my 2007 Z that I had purchased without an engine and it hauls butt, too much power, I dyno tunes it here in west Tx at WSLS Performance Shop and it made nearly 560 WHP and almost 600 torque really super fast, too fast for me. There’s actually a guy from Dallas that want to buy just the Z chassis with Tranny but has a built LS9 that he wants to put in. So with that said, am going to take the engine out as soon as he deposits a deposit and if you would want to make an offer on my LS7 that would great. I can send pictures/videos of the engine while it’s still in it. Let me know

I want it so bad. Although, If I buy a used LS7, a lot people said the stock dry sump system is bad??? is it easy to make it a wet sump? If I go dry sump. I prolly used ARE or Aviaid instead. What can you say?

The LS7 dry sump is discontinued, but it appears they are slowly assembling some wet sump engines from remaining parts in stock.

You would need to use a regular wet sump corvette pan for fitment as this came with a hot rod pan.

We have not had any issues on these, most of the ones as of late were due to money-shifts by the driver. We still recommend inspecting them for wear just as a CYA. It's just like BMW S85 main bearings, you know it's been an issue, you probably shouldn't ignore it and keep an eye on it.
