If someone is looking for a multisport GPS watch, this is not really worth it, but if that someone is also a fan of analog watches of old, those classical timepieces, this is worth it! There are watches out there that are more expensive but less than capable of what this thing can do. That is one sexy watch!

It has the excellent Garmin functionality and it definitely looks great, even compared to regular analog watches (I personally liked the leather straps the best!), but man that $2K price tag really pushes me away. It seems like it's a good fit for you, but for me, I'm sticking to my $150 Garmin Instinct and I'll switch to my $120 TimeX Open heart when I don't care about smart features.

I absolutely love the 6X & 7X. I think they are the most beautiful watch design ever. I've loved the 6X since it came out & now 7X. Garmin did spectacular. I would give anything to be able to afford either. I'm single with 2 kids so I'll never own one but they are my dream & my version of perfection. Thanks for showing all the great things Garmin offers.

I agree with you. I did a great effort to get the 6x and the 7s for my wife and I am very happy with it as well as my wife. Mine was used as the price continues being high but it is worth it so far.

@@amircastilla07 That's awesome. Glad you & your wife both got one. Glad you like them. They are the best looking watch out there in my opinion. Hopefully I'll get to own one some day as well. Yeah, they're just still so high. It's impossible for me to pull off getting one with the kids, inflation, & all but I'm glad your liking yours. I love seeing people get watches their happy with.

The MARQ Adventurer Orienteering function isn’t a turnable bezel; it’s activated when you hold down the Start button (top-right). You then point the watch in the direction of your orienteering lock (measured in degrees) and the ABC compass will lock in that direction. You can access this function while doing anything on the watch, even while in an activity. Other Garmin watches may have ABC navigation, but only the MARQ Adventurer can perform an orienteering lock.

I totally share your point of view, I have been buying "Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro, 4..." since some years now, because they look stylish, also because of the battery life, but they lack a lot of others competitor's features and US region compatibility, so I decided to buy one Adventurer my self. Thank you for your review, very valuable.

I still edc a garmin instinct and I love it bc I don’t need a full fledged smartwatch I just don’t prefer them. I can look at my bearing check the weather and change my music as well as track my sleep and heart rate. And that’s all I prefer but it really does depend on what kind of person you are and what you prefer.

If you want something, and can afford it, it's worth it. Pretty simple, actually. I wound up with a Fenix Pro, but that fits in for me because I've been a fan of GShocks for years (especially after I retired 2 years ago.. barely touched my 'regular' watch collection these day), so in my case a soft strap and black case has become my EDC). I spend a lot of time in the woods doing (attempting) wildlife photography and Garmin's mapping system is just awesome.

Very good choice! I've got the MARQ Captain limited edition (American Magic) with the same TI bracelet. The deep tinting the TI has on the watch frame and the bracelet truly transform the entire piece one can be proud to wear regularly, regardless of the occasion. I've put mine through horseback riding in the Smoky's to snorkeling in Palau - bracelet & watch have equally held up. Definitely a practical watch in today's era, yet, still maintaining an attractive appeal of a normal timepiece. It's quite a bit of money to spend, but they're well worth it. :-)

Worn a Fenix 5X for several years now and love the features including connectivity to apps like strava & my fitness pal (through garmin connect). Like you, it has been an important piece in my weight loss & fitness journey. However, I work in a SCIF and cant have it on during the day... I wear either a 42mm Hamilton Khaki Field or an early 90s Seiko diver Ive had since my active duty USN days. MARQ series is a serious upgrade, great video, lots to think about.

yes, they're nice, but it's still a piece of electronics that definitely doesn't have that much value and in 5 years they'll be broken and without an update, maybe less, your hamiltons will tick for decades more with good service. I would definitely rather spend $2500 on some classic watches that will not lose their value.

I think there’s some value in the higher end garmins if you’re actually taking advantage of the technology - diving, hardcore athlete, etc. I have the fenix 5 plus and it’s been great for backpacking and the standard fitness stuff. otherwise, I’d spend that kind of money on a real watch (I know they’re real but you know what I mean) or save until you can get your pièce de résistance watch. I just got my dream watch, the Omega moonwatch and, man, I’m so glad I got it.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. People spend on tech that they don't use just because it's cool. Also, tech is always obsolete in such short order that I can't bring myself to buy a smart watch. Buy a good watch and it will last a lifetime. Buy a top of the line piece of technology and it's junk in a few short years. If you don't use the absolute heck out of it, then it feels like a waste.

Would love to hear an update. I bought the Gen 2 Adventurer, and I ended up returning it quickly. True, it's gorgeous, but the screen was slightly smaller than the Epix I was wearing, which put data just out of visibility range of my old eyes. The watch was heavy as well--I know a lot of people like that, but you get the best data from a Garmin if you wear it constantly, and I found myself taking it off often. Beyond that I just didn't feel it was worth the $1200 premium over an Epix--maybe for $500, I'd do it. Still, it's a gorgeous piece, and I'm a little sad it didn't work out.

I’ll definitely be interested in the update. I currently run a Garmin Tactix Charlie ( I got on the secondary market) for the same purpose you wear a smart watch, Oris Aquis Date for my nicer wear… I thought long and hard about the Marq series and I’m definitely weary of being disappointed if and when the technology isn’t supported anymore on a 2k watch. Garmin should offer some sort of a reasonable trade in value and then I’d think more about it. I certainly love the look of it. Enjoy

My Fenix is only a year old, but Garmin watches definitely feel built for the long run. Despite the fact it's body is mostly plastic with a metal bezel and backplate, it doesn't feel cheap at all. It's been bashed of doors, rocks, trees, submerged, and out in temp ranges from -15 to 100°+ F and all it has on it are some scratches on the bezel. It's battery feels barely depleted, and if it has lost capacity it's base capacity is so large it's irrelevant. It does feel sluggish in comparison to something like an Apple, but it also has remained consistent in its operation as well whereas an apple device at this age would feel noticeably slower than when it was new. Overall I'm entirely satisfied with it as a daily driver, it keeps the fluff to a minimum while having actual useful tools present for when you need them. It doesn't constantly harass me with updates or notifications, and I can customize just how intrusive I want it's "smart" capability to be. It's also not reliant on an LTE signal for using it's navigational functions, which is great for when I'm out in state land in the mountains where cell signal is non existent.

That is a nice watch. I don't understand why it's more than the fenix7. The 7x has a touch screen, sapphire lens, solar powered, is titanium, built in 800 Lumen LED flashlight, a two teek battery with everything on (over a month on expedition mode- theoretically over a year given a bit of sun daily), and the new HR / O2 sensor which is significantly more accurate then that one on the Marq. I think the Marq is inferior in every way and is $600 more. I don't get it. But it's lovely and any Garmin is better than no Garmin :)

@@theronwolf3296 i feel a lower production rate dont justify the high price it is not so low that it is hard to get and like I wrote before as far what I understand it is an Epix2 with different case materials. I mean for the higher price they should have upgraded some things like battery life and or larger screen or make it more accurate but it seams like they didn't change anything over the Epix2

I don't like the thick, blocky bracelets. Let me spend $300 on a thick, block bracelet... LOL Damn beautiful watch though! (drool)

Can you track cycling with it? The versions look limited by being specialized, it looks like the Athlete is the only one you can track cycling with.

The appearance of MARQ is absolutely great. But from the functionality’s point of view, it now falls a lot behind the Fenix7 and 955..

Hey, superb review, really liked it! I do want to ask you for some advice though. All the watches are pretty similar, however I am drawn to either the Adventurer or the Aviator. Ill be using this watch everyday for a mix of training and on work (telecom engineer). If I chose the Adventurer I would be buying the titanium bracelet that you show here, the advice I need help with was that in my mind I was originally wanting to buy a watch that matches better with whenever I use a tux, or a suit if you'd like, something at also looks slick but at the same time is convenient. As of today I am using a "ugly" Fenix 5x plus sapphire, and I have been really happy about this, until the point where you go out to that dinner, or attending that wedding or whatever right. I feel like with either the Aviator or the Adventurer that would give me the best of both worlds in the sense of classiness together with functionality. Another pointer is that I am definitely not a pilot, nor a heavy outdoor guy, don't get me wrong, I have two kids and we outside almost all the time, we just never go on hikes per say etc. What would you advice me to do here; Buy the Aviator, or go for the Adventurer with the titanium bracelet, with the bracelet on the Adventurer I think the prices match up pretty equal.

The only problem is Garmin moves so fast with new technology, they came out with touch screens after these came out. I still love the Marq Adventurer though, if I had the money I'd get it
@cohan88

Touch screens are annoying and use more battery. I wouldn't call it an update... Just wait until there's a market for rooting the older models, and upgrading the batteries to solid state... They will be much closer to timeless, like the old g-shocks.

I wear a Garmin Fenix 5x everyday and have for the past almost 3 years. I’ve beat on it so hard doing physical labor… several worn out straps later it’s in great shape. But for all the positives I still don’t love the watch. The fitness features are just ok, I constantly record data by accident from my wrist depressing the buttons and the screen just feels dated already. I think garmin will nail these watches soon but I’m not sold the time is quite yet
