Unboxing the Rossi 454 Casull

Look at what Santa put in my stocking this year!! Unboxing the Rossi R92 in 454 Casull with first shots and a little range time fun. I've really wanted a stainless Rossi R92 and I especially wanted a big caliber like the 454 Casull.

Love the 454 , I got a ruger super Redhawk 7.5 in the target gray . Ammo is expensive if you can find it

Sweet congratulations on your Rossi and I know that you will enjoy it I've had my puma r92 454 for around 10 years now and i still chuckle while I'm shooting it the heaviest boolet I've used in er is 365 gr. lwnfpgc. And yep she's a thumper.

Had any trouble with yours? Do they smooth out over time or need polishing of the action?

Thanks Ken! Yeah I was surprised that it just took a few taps with the punch to get it centered and raising the rear sight on the ramp got us hitting center.

Excellent rifle. I have the same one. With open sights I can maintain 3” groups. The 454 is plenty of fun. It tries to jump out of your hands. 240 XTP mag is plenty snappy and I would classify as a deer round. The 250? Barnes copper is certified tested and tried. On a bull moose at 75 yards. Great to walk with and quick follow up shots. A black bear, moose, elk round inside 100 yards

Sweet looking rifle. I really like the stainless steel. 454 Casull the round made famous by Nate Romanowski. I wish more folks used it so it would be more of an obtainable round. Best Christmas present for sure!!

Thanks Aaron! They certainly are just fun to have and shoot. I need to take both this one and the .357 mag out hunting. When I got the Marlin in 454 I got a wild hog with it just a few months after getting it. That may be because I scoped it though.

I tjink you probably saw my videos. This was a Grail gun for me. I was wanting for close ta twenty years. I just re stocked mine. With Rossi wood made by boyds sold thru STEVEZ GUNZ in Tx. 45 Colt Dies will load 454.

Yeah I saw the video where you changed the stock on it. It looks really good. I told my friend about it too. He actually asked about the 45 Colt Dies and I told him I think so. I need to do some more research on it before I actually get into loading for it.

The Rossi r92 is an Awesome gun, I bought the R92 in 38/357 triple black. Very good utility tool for the bush.... The 454 casul is on my wish list. Thanks for the video

Thanks Kevin! That triple black sounds awesome. Right before the pandemic I picked up my 38/357 Rossi with the 16 inch barrel and I got it for half as much as what the new Rossi rifles are going for today. I'm glad I got it when I did as I love that little rifle. You're correct it is a great tool for the bush!

@@cervus-venator shelf price here in Canada was $1299+ taxes ,so it was 1495.... I also added a UTG red dot....there was also enough room on the rail to add a pistol low mount Lazor .... I use the Lazo for 38 and the red dot for 357 to compensate for the difference in ballistics. I still have some adjustments to do.... if I were to own one gun this would be it.....

Nice looking gun, sights good, kicks hard lol.. Dotting the T's and crossing the eyes on that steel target! A friend of mine had a 454 Casull target pistol. It looked like a wrist breaker to me! He could barely hold it to shoot more than a few rounds. That lever action rifle in 454 Casull looks like a lot more fun to me! Rossi seems to be getting better as they go. Taurus, is getting better. Love my G3c. Same company, my Heritage .22lr pistols are also from the same company if I recall correctly. All pretty good guns for the money.

yeah I agree that Taurus, Rossi, Heritage all have gotten better with quality over time. As for you friend's pistol - that is precisely why I don't have a 454 Casull pistol. I'd much rather shoot it from a rifle. Thanks Tom!

What is the point, that both the .357 and .44 Magnum has 24" heavy barrel version, and the hot and strong load .454 Casull does not??? The Casull has the most power to burn, it would need the most barrel length, if I got this point right. So, any idea, why is this like that? Also very annoying that there is no blued steel version of the Casull. Maybe some ceracote would help if I would buy one.

Very good points to bring up. I have no idea on why it is like that and i didn't realize that they didn't produce any of the 454 Casull in a blued version. That's odd that they did not, but you are correct in that a ceracote can cover that shinny finish if need be. Thanks for bringing up these points.

Thr Rossi doesn't seem to be a smooth cycling gun. Any problems with feeding 45 LC?

Must recoil like a 45-70

It has a nice push to it, but I think the 45-70 has more muzzle rise to it and a little bit more felt recoil than the 454 Casull.
