I purchased the Rossi R92 in 454 Casull around 6 months ago. You will not be disappointed . My advice is to get a plug to replace that cheap safety. Who needs a safety on a lever action anyway.

It actually is useful when lowering the hammer to the safety notch and your fingers are cold, if it slips and the hammer drops like people have done for years with Winchesters , the hammer doesn’t set off the gun. Once you are in the safety notch there isn’t much need for it based on my experience with it.

I have three of these but blued - and in the other calibers. 16", 44 Mag, 20", 45 Colt and 24", .357 Mag. They are great carbines. I but that 454 kicks like a mule. My 44 thumps but its nothing really - for recoil on the shoulder. I wouldn't say a 300 grain bullet moving at 1500 fps is not nothing... but that thing can toss a 325 grain bullet to over 2000 fps iirc. If you are interested in one of these, don't hesitate. I am sure we will only see the prices go up. Mine are all really well made and more accurate than I am.

I have the large loop 45 colt carbine and it is so light and maneuverable and extremely powerful for such a small package!!!!

I have one that was made back in the early 90s by puma handload for the 454 and you would be surprised on what it’ll do

That's a rear sight not safety. You have to grip the lever completely for the hammer to release. Grip the lever completely down to the wood hole the hammer with you thumb and pull the trigger, the hammer should close just fine. It's a gripe safety that some lever rifles have.

Until rossi removes the redundant tiny plastic safty on top just forward of the hammer. I refuse to buy one. Looks so out of place.

They are metal not plastic. And they have to do that to import them here. They are easily removed though.

I have sold several of them and nobody has any complaints except for the cheap safety lever
