@@perpetualconfusion5885 I put on a Holosun Green Dot sight (HE403B) on it. Zeroed it at 25 yards on my fourth three-round grouping. Fired another 188 rounds (115 grain) and was hitting very accurately at distances out to 100 yards. It’s performed beyond my wildest expectations thus far.

@@thadlm2698 that's amazing to hear. I'm looking to pick one up soon, decided my old Mini 14 from 1986 doesn't cut it for home defense anymore

I've had my FPC for about 2 weeks now. Only 300 or so rounds through it so far...mostly hollow points with no problems. Just a cheap Sig MSR and a Mlok grip and I love it.

Can you lift on the tabs for the the magazine release instead of pressing down ?
@carlosdaniels9515
@carlosdaniels9515 11 ай бұрын
@@codlife95Yes. Simply pull down on the tab on the side you want to release and the mag on that side releases. Don't know why not a single KZbin reviewer hasn't been able to figure it out. Also the slide lock release works by reaching under with your support hand & pulling down on both tabs at the same time with your thumb and index finger. Little to no pressure to make it work. Pressing down on one side puts the bar that connects both tabs together in a bind ( hence the difficulty in trying to use it that way). Tempted to make a video demonstrating these two features since every other reviewer simply gripes about it & can't seem to figure it out.

I was not as lucky as many that bought this rifle. And, I had the same problem I have read many complain about. Out of the box it took me and the Jolly Green Giant to pull back the charging handle. That was a hint. I tore it down and cleaned and oiled it and took off to the range. The first round fired and out of 45 more only 4 fired. At that point I stripped it down and where the smaller portion of the bolt should go on the larger portion only ONE way, it now went on TWO ways. Not good. Took it back to the gun shop and they sent it back to S&W. They sent it back in a little over 3 weeks with a brand new bolt. It seems the bolt is the weakness in these first offerings. I did take it to the range when I got it back and fire a little over 100 rounds through it with no problems. Hopefully, that will continue.

Excellent review! One slight correction: the slots in the hand guard at 5 and 7 o'clock are not MLok... they are too narrow... so I suppose just cooling vents. I found out the hard way. Also, a Holosun Baldr Pro will NOT fit on the bottom MLok... works OK but too wide to fold... has to be mounted on the right side if you want it to fold. Otherwise, buy a more narrow light for mounting at the 6 o'clock position. Thanks - great review of a really interesting piece.

really interested in this firearm. I have the 2.0 metal and was thinking of complementing it with this new FPC. Are the Mags compatible with each other??

yes your 17rd metal mag will work in the fpc but there will be a gap between the grip and the floorplate if you do not have spacerr, not a big deal to me but i am sure that you can purchase one if you prefer. thanks for watching. ak

Since its not a combat arm, the extra mag carriers are for convenience not immediate action loading.

@@Rustebadge that’s what I figured, it’s more for easy storage that’s accessible, with practice, you could get fast with it. It does seem like a nice “survival weapon” feature.

I also had to send mine back to Smith and Wesson. Whatever you do, don’t pull the trigger while the bolt is out of the gun. The hammer pops up and you cannot slide the bolt back in again, but if that does happen, take a long screwdriver and push the hammer back down. It’s a very nice firearm, but a pain in the butt to take apart to clean. That’s the only downside I see so far. put the safety on before you take it apart. That way you don’t accidentally pull the trigger.

I shot this carbine at the range, it’s got a lot going for it, but smoothness of action isn’t one of them, it’s too damn stiff, and I hate the trigger , S&W should have refined it better

Good Lord Michael. The trigger is fine for a carbine of this price. Mine has worked extremely well, the charging handle smoothed out and I can hit with it. Its NOT a combat gun but a fun-gun. I have never compared it to a full-size carbine or battle rifle but it beats the living snot out of almost everything on the market.
