actually this modem has small WAN port and fiber cable has big pin which can not be adjusted. If you want to use fiber then use "huawei" router. They are slightly costly so you can buy used "huawei" router.

Don't worry - I have 2 modem at different places - they go heated little bit but response is awesome.

If you think it is getting over heated than normal you can return it to company. Normally new devices/products are in warranty.
