@Trinity M where in her comment did she say she wanted to be gazed upon? is it that hard for you to understand some people like to do somethings because they enjoy it and not for external validation or is that too much for you comprehend? besides you bringing up yourself being a gender scholar might just go to show your misogynistic views on what women are.

The adaption in my opinion is really good actually, has the original gossip girl feel without trying to be too much like the original. (Not fan of Maxes relationship with the teacher) but then again the original gossip girl had those wild relationships too. If u watch both the original and the reboot first episode they are equally as cringy and mostly just tell backstories of everyone. Both shows get better progressively.

Carmen Maria Machado is a brilliant writer. If you haven’t read ‘In The Dreamhouse’ TW: it’s about abuse in a queer relationship. It’s real, raw, poignant, heartfelt. It reminded me a lot of an abusive relationship I have been in. It’s presented analytically, but her words are poetry. She and her story deserve to be heard 🖤

The books mirror the drama going on in Audrey's life. She needs to project control at all times but is surrounded by chaos in her home life, public life and internally. I think internally she is struggling with being the caretaker for her mother, her social position is uncertain due to her family's current financial problems, and her relationship with Aki & Max is not conventional and is a conflict for her. Her book options flip-flop between who she wants to be and where she is currently. Side note: I think as viewers we don't see Audrey's mental wellness issues as problematic because she is highly functional but is often clearly overly anxious. She also shows some compulsive disorder tendencies.

your analysis made me think on how unwell audrey’s mom is after her separation from her father and how audrey herself is handling that. she acts like a grown woman to fill the position her mother is supposed to take, while her mom can’t get up from bed because of her depression. now this are my thoughts on the muse part: her relationship with aki is stagnant yet they remain in it, her more mature approach to life and how she handles herself in the relationship makes me think that she wants to be exactly that, a muse. being the woman behind the man, the indispensable force he needs in order to succeed will not allow for her to be “thrown away” like her mom was. also being the perfect socialite adds to it. these are just my rambles after my first coffee of the day, excuse me if they are all over the place and badly written.

Interesting to see how so many of the books deal with depression, anxiety, suicide, etc yet she seems to be unsympathetic to her mother in those regards. Obviously there’s a lot more going on there and I am sympathetic to Audrey’s side and well and actually her feelings mirror a lot of the feeling I have had with my own mother when I was younger. Interested to see how they’re relationship will evolve throughout the series. Last nights argument between them was very real.

I was wondering about the same thing as Carley was noting to be interested about how mental illness is going to be incorporated into Audrey's character. Ive wanted to try out anne sexton, i even have some of her poems, but after learning more about her it gets harder for me to separate the art from the artist. :( i still might give her a shot, since her book is just laying around my house

I have a request, please read Lorde's favorite books in celebration of her new album. I just watched her Rooftop performances, this new album is already giving me life. Will I remember to buy it or even listen to it? Who knows. I will watch your video though; my ADHD commands it.
want to read more? i've got you.
