What kills me inside: Gundham killed Nekomaru so everyone else wouldnt starve to death. He specifically chose him not because he's an easy target, but because he couldn't handle taking an actual life. As evil as he pretends to be, I'd like to think because of how caring he must be to animals, he doesnt want to actually murder someone.

Personally I dont think he chose Nekomaru because he couldnt handle taking an actual life; he chose Nekomaru because Nekomaru had the highest chance of killing him. Both Gundham and Nekomaru knew that no one was leaving the Funhouse until someone died, so they were both willing to fight to the death in order for everyone to live. Gundham chose Nekomaru because in the event that he died, Gundham wanted to go down fighting honorably against a strong opponent. Because that's who Gundham is: someone who values the sanctity of life and refuses to give it up.

@@CrisBris This, and people harp on Gundham saying he's not as selfless as everyone thinks, which may or may not be true. But atleast he's not a hypocrite which is far worse in my opinion. His speech about refusing to give up on life would be pointless if he simply gave up and confessed before the trial started. I think Gundham was okay with either winning or losing the class trial. If he wins, yay, he gets to leave the island. If he loses, he sees that his sacrifice was not in vain as his friends refused to give up on life and they get to live on. Compared to so many other Danganronpa victims (which includes the killers), Gundham got to go out the way he saw fit with a smile on his face. Many other characters who died in these games did so full of despair and regret, but not him.

@@Da1337Man Couldn't have said it better. So many people hone in on Gundham's "selflessness" when frankly, it's not even the main factor in Gundham's actions. The centerpiece of Gundham's character is that he's somone who adheres to his values, even in the face of death. Maybe he did care about the others, maybe he didn't. But ultimately what mattered most to Gundham was living life to its fullest, even when you're on your last legs. An appropriate quality for the Ultimate Breeder, who takes care of the lives of animals.

Gundham was being trampled by what he loved most (other than Sonia), animals, and at the end he was carried up to heaven which destroys how he had been trying to play the villain card. Whether he did that so the others would not despair as much, or for another reason, that was ruined when he was carried to heaven. And if his ritual was to save himself, I believe it was for the hamsters though, it showed him false hope only to be *literally* trampled on. (Still that fact can be discarded if you're looking at it from the angle of him saving his hamsters). He tried so hard to put on this fantastical villain persona and his execution just took away all he stood for. While the death itself may not be as painful as the others, it certainly caused despair.

The saddest in the whole 2nd game. He really loved his animals and put them first, which is important to me because I adore animals, to the point that I am a vegetarian and have been since I was a child. So I totally feel ya on it being sad. But since he doesn't actually die and it was all fake, it kind of takes most of the wind out of its sails. I mean yeah, seeing it still makes me feel for him, cause he thought it was real and he still had to feel it and experience it. But in the end, he got to live. The same can't be said for any of the V3 cast.

The two things that hit my heart the most in this was 1) Gundham saying "I may just be a human destined for hell" because holt shit and 2) one of the Devas holding a sunflower seed after Gundham's death because oh god he did actually have access to at least a bit of food and while starving himself he still gave it to his Devas😭😭

I just finished Chapter 4 for the first time. While playing it with a friend. As someone who loves gundham throughout the game because of his character. But being informed about the VA for Gundham playing through the game himself. But as much as I didn't want to belive that Gundham being the killer it was hurting me on the inside. But aside from that I wanna also give huge credit for the amazing work for giving the voice of possibly the most interersting character in the game for me.

Not everything is voiced in one go and voicing sessions are typically spanned out. Plus, its fairly easy to forget all the lines you've voiced after voicing them, especially if you're also the voice actor for many other characters. Also, lines are typically voiced pretty early in advance before the actual release/ full production of the game, show, movie etc. (They probably know the gist of who dies, but not exactly how or why / executed or killed)

Actually there could have been an improvement to Gundham's alibi when he gets found out. HIS HAMSTERS. Hamsters have a extraordinarily high sense of hearing, so he could've used the excuse that they were shivering near him and that woke him up, thus using the knowledge acquired from his talent to his advantage. Just a little nitpick. Still the best class trial in all of the games in my opinion.

If Gundam really wanted to sacrifice himself to save everyone, he would've just killed himself. Still best boy, but if he wanted to sacrifice himself there's no reason for him to kill Nidai, and no reason for him to go to such lengths to cover it up.

@@trevsoda He gave Nidai a chance to escape, they both knew what they get into. If nidai was the one to win he would've done the same. And committing suicide is a crazy idea only Nagito can think of. Especially if they will refuse to believe it was a suicide and vote someone else off. He wanted to be the one to get executed so no one else will. Both Gundham and Nekomaru sacrificed themselves for the group!

If you look at Sakura, for example, when she killed herself she also did so to regain her honor, make up for betraying her friends and keep her dojo safe, that makes sense for her as that's the way her character was constructed
