PATREON: www.patreon.com/storystreet TWITTER: twitter.com/StreetOfStories Thanks for watching the video! I hope it meant something to you. This was a real labor of love that I 100% was not expecting to be as long as it is. I thought it would be 45 minutes max, and now it's my longest video. Whoops. But I have big plans for February. A video I've wanted to do for a long time and a couple of surprises you might not be expecting. Have a great day! And don't forget: NFTs are a scam.

I think you've made me cry in every video I have watched from you, in a good way. Every video you make about a story is always as thrilling and impactful as the story itself if even more so, and I can only wish for that ability. Thank you for showing us your passion. These are the kind of videos I can watch a full movie length of because they make me feel like I have watched a really good movie.

The retcon of Nate having a brother who was never mentioned in the first three games REALLY shouldn't have worked, but the dialogue and performances are so freaking good that the story surprisingly works.

Well said. I agree completely. A prime example of a mere story being subservient to how the story is told.

I played uncharted 4 first, and I didn’t know Sam was a new character, because he just fit right in. I was super confused like “why are they adding so much backstory to this character all of a sudden? I guess he didn’t get much development in the first 3 games”

I like that they didn’t include any supernatural elements in this one. A more grounded and human story for a more mature audience that aged with the series.

I think this game did what 3 tried to do but better. The problem (I think) with 3 was that it couldn’t decide what it wanted to do; on one hand we have “what are you trying to prove?” “This isn’t worth it, let this one go” on the other, we still got that world threatening supernatural element at the end. Kind of sending mixed messages.

Hey StoryStreet idk if you’ll ever read this even so I feel the need to tell you what this video meant to me. We all have our problems it’s an inevitable part of life and we all need to deal with them eventually or suffer the fate of some of the characters you mentioned. During this video the themes and ideas you talked about started to resonate with me little by little, although when you truly opened up to let’s face it a bunch of strangers you gave me perspective. About what we value in our lives and how life spits in the face of those values and dreams. Your genuine fears of how your journey isn’t what you thought it was going to be and how it may never be what you want, it struck a chord within me. I’m writing this to you right after the video all these words come from impulse and a place of vulnerability. So forgive me if it may seem a bit unorganized. The way you broke down this story and weaving it’s themes into your own life of regret, loss, and fear it showed me that I too have been running. I feel I’ve been running so long I never realized it. I never had a passion for anything in fact I think finding a passion is the fortune I’ve been seeking. That being said seeing your passion and how that passion gave you the ability to create this video it opened my eyes to the fact I haven’t been living my life. Truthfully I don’t know where to go from here and this whole message may be nonsense and may have no real meaning I just wanted to thank you. Thank you for making this video, thank you for the effort of crafting something so genuine, and finally if you are here thank you for reading the ramblings of a fellow lost soul, seeking their fortune.

We all have fears, regrets, and, to use an old fashioned term, sins. But, there is something beyond, or even behind, this shared misery. Most days we don't want to face it. To think about it. But... there is a void. Something we all need. We all need something to live for. For some, it is passion, or fortune, or love, or for the experience of the journey itself. People have to in some way fill this void of meaning, or... purpose. But, what we go through in life sometimes threatens what we have chosen to live for. What we have chosen to be our purpose. For soldiers, its fighting for and protecting the guy beside you. What do you do when your brother in arms is threatened? You fight for him with a furry. But, what do you do when you have to walk away? When you no longer have to fight to protect that brother, what do you have to live for? We all need purpose, but some things that are not meant to be made into a purpose, get made into one. Money for example. Money is all well and good, and wealth (or fortune) is awesome, but should it be a purpose, a reason to live? If you pursue fortune as your purpose, what do you do when you get it? Does the rest of your life no longer have purpose now? This is the same problem with getting revenge. What now? There needs to be something higher. Something more everlasting that needs to be your purpose. Something you can be passionate about. Something you can love. Something you don't have to fear. Something you don't have to regret. Something you can live for. Someone you can live for. A wife. A husband. A child. A apprentice perhaps. Or maybe, you can live for more than one person. Perhaps, a spouse, children and students. Maybe, you can live for people. The people around you. The ones you love. But, what if you have no one? Do you suddenly have nothing to live for again? I believe that we all have a reason to be here, and it has to do with our relationship to each other as a whole and not just necessarily for our own circles. This is where doctors and nurses come in. They can live to save, or to protect. But, what if, no one needs saving, or protecting, or help, or love, or nurishment, or growth, or learning. Do we not teach with the objective of helping the other person overcome their ignorance? Do we not give nurishment with the goal of helping the other to the point where they are self-sufficient and no longer need our help? What if we accomplish this? What end would this lead to but meaninglessness? Are we now not back to where we started with fear and the void? The meaning of life is an age old question. What makes the suffering worth it? What can we have that will not destroy us in the end through of fear of losing it or by fulfilling it? Are we not then trapped in a endless loop of meaninglessness? The only solution I see is, the oldest one there is. God. Something, or someone had to have placed us here, right? Something, or someone has to give us purpose that will end the endlessness of meaninglessness and give us meaning. What else, or who else can do such a thing? Only God can. My friends, my fellow wonderers, my fellow lost souls, there is a beacon of hope, of meaning, where you can find passion, love, fortune and experience the joy of the journey. This beacon is God. I believe there is nothing that we can do to give ourselves something other than a superficial meaning. I found forgiveness for my sins and relief from my regrets. I found atonement for my wrong-doings and freedom from the shame of my guilt. I found acceptance. I even found liberty from fear itself. If there is a God greater than anything I face in my life, why should I fear what life brings me? In the end, my search lead me to Jesus. I think he is the answer for all. He was the answer for me. All I can say is this. Keep searching. Keep searching for passion, truth, life and meaning. It will be your greatest guide and teacher. God bless and I hope you find what you are looking for.

It is the first video from the channel that I watch because I am currently replying The Lost Legacy on PS5, I was expecting absolutely nothing and left the video thinking about myself, about Nathan and about the author of the video, I am completely speechless.

I don't actually think the Nun in the beginning told Nathan that HE was a waste. I think she meant he was wasting the POTENTIAL he had by following a lifestyle similar to his brother, which was admittedly very dangerous. It's possible Nathan perceived it that way as a kid. Maybe the Nun could have been more gentle and patient about it, who knows?

Your review made me think of those wise words: "So many times it happens too fast You change your passion for glory Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive…" Uncharted is about passions and history and stories. Not giving up dreams, but figuring out what they are and keeping them with you.

Also all the actors' performance seemed more muted and realistic in Uncharted 4 compared to the previous games. Before they seem to speak louder with a higher pitch tone to match the more straight forward adventure tone but for Uncharted 4 they have a more realistic less hyperactive tone when talking, which is awesome direction from the creators

Henry Jackman is the best at crafting such a way of symphony for every moment in uncharted 4 and you can hear it best both when Nathan an Alana are at the point were there about to die in the bridge scene and the ending of epilogue. And it that's the name of the song Henry named.... Epilogue.

I’m months late to this video so idk if this will be read. I have to say thanks for this video. These games and especially this game has meant so much to me since I was super young. I just graduated high school, days later my girlfriend leaves me, I’m technically homeless, I’m terribly depressed and so on and so on. The end of this video, that heart to heart made me tear up a little. What a touching moment. I only found this Chanel today but it’s full of my kind of videos. These games have made me who I am, they’ve inspired me to keep going through everything I have suffered because we all suffer. It’s amazing how we all get knocked down over and over and yet we find others to help us stand. That’s what I’ve always loved about Nathan and always tried to replicate, that “not knowing when to give up” attitude. That’s something we can all aspire to be. Thank you for this video.

There's a a cool thematic throughline between Uncharted 4 and The Last Of Us Part II. Ellie and Drake are both committed to a mission, one is revenge, the other is seeking treasure. One is experiencing new love the other is trying to hold fast to found love and commitment. Both are being put at risk. One ends in resolution and peace, the other ends in isolation and heartbreak. Both are approached with that special Naughty Dog nuance. In this way I feel that TLOU Part II is as much a seuel to TLOU as it is a thematic successor, or sister to Uncharted 4.

Shortly after watching this video when it first came out, I saw the first 3 Uncharted games on the PS Store and bought it as well as Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy a little later when the bundle was on sale. As of a couple of weeks ago, I finished my first playthrough of Uncharted 4 and the ride that all of these games have taken me on has been absolutely indescribable. I’ve laughed, I’ve been on the verge of tears, and I’ve wanted to throw my controller to the wall in frustration every now and then. But I have also experienced unimaginable thrills and some of the most spectacular set pieces in all the years I’ve played games and I owe it to this video. Regardless of whether you see this comment or not, I just want to say this. The ability you have to carefully dissect a story or character and get to the root of what they try to tell us is unrivaled and one I personally envy. And it’s essential to how you make the best video essays I’ve seen on not just KZbin but the internet as a whole. If you hadn’t put together this masterpiece of a video, it could very well have been years before I’d played these games. You introduced me to one of my favorite gaming franchises with just one video and you help me find new ways to appreciate TV shows, movies, or games I already thought were exceptional. And for that, I applaud and thank you.

"Running Away" that hit home for me I didn't even realize it for myself either until you brought it up. I got a shitty relationship, or I just don't see them often at all, with more than a few of my family members. I have had a mental breakdown, seriously considered suicide, and through all of that as I tried, half-heartedly most of the time, to find a job and get in shape in preparation for the Army I just constantly ran away to video games or reading Fanfiction for hours on end each. And the results? I don't have a job, I'm nowhere near ready for bootcamp and they can call me and say it's time to go at any time, I haven't tried to reconnect and reconcile with most of my family, even though I live with some of them we barely speak a single word to each other anymore cause we are always fighting(Me, my Grandma, my Sister, and my Mother) always yelling and fighting or just flat out ignoring each others existence cause all of us are sick and tired of fighting but instead of fixing or at least mending our bonds we all just run away. My Sister just plays on her computer all day when not at School, my Grandma just plays a game on her phone while the TV is going or she is just watching whatever she can, my Mother is either working, sleeping, or watching TV in her room and drinking or bringing over her on-and-off boyfriend who no one in my family likes to put it nicely. All of us are running away from reality so desperately that by the time I leave there wont be any relationship between us. Thank you for opening my eyes to something I didn't even know I was blind to. I'm gonna start small, get a job and get in shape and then just go with the flow and start my life and future and hopefully find someone to call my fortune.

I just discovered this channel, and I rarely comment on YT, but I just wanted to commend you for how beautiful this video is. Uncharted is one of my all time favorite franchises, and Uncharted 4 is my favorite game. I love everything about it, the themes of greed and obsession, Nate and Elena’s denial of major parts of themselves to make their relationship work early in the story, and of course the perfected gameplay. This franchise means so much to me, I have a Sic Parvis Magna tattoo, and when I told Nolan North that the games came out when I was in high school, the beginning, middle, and end of my military career, his response that “Nate was with me through my whole journey in the Marines,” left me emotional in ways I can’t describe. Thank you for articulating everything that makes this game a masterpiece better than I ever could

"...lying to him for his own ends because he was afraid Nate would tell him 'no'". Oh the Nathan and Sam parallels in them lying to their respective loved one... somehow I never realised this. Absolutely genius editing by the way, in sprinkling those glitchy flashes of Elena making the discovery of Nate's deception. The first time it made me backtrack in confusion, so caught off guard at the sudden interruption from the exciting tale of Nate's adventure. Then when it continued to occur, it finally clicked. These small flashes really just heightened the tension in waiting for the eventual reveal and truly, everytime I got too absorbed by your fantastic storytelling the flashes of Elena hit like a truck. Like just the tension it creates, the small undercurrent of anxiety for when the gig is up, helps so much in positioning the viewer in the same shoes as Nathan, waiting for when reality finally catches up to the fantasy. When you spoke of your own life's journey in relation to Uncharted... it really hit hard too. The story of Uncharted 4 was always something I enjoyed but just your perspective on this gave it new depths that I hadn't considered before. Enchanced my love for it even. Uncharted 4 was by no means a bad game. It was a fantastic end to the series, visually and narratively stunning. Just. That bit of emptiness in feeling "what now?" after seeing that final cutscene and credits... always felt a bit like hurt. Then your analysis came in, relating it to ideas of loss and "letting go" and your own anxieties. This video essay is a fantastic balm for the soul and a lovely reflection on the series! Thank you so so much for it.

Your video made me cry man. You are so good. What you talked about at the end is something that is universal i think to people like us, people who just started their lives in a world that is scary and demanding of us to know everything. Last year, i finished college, now i am just working to get money for a movie school in a city far from where i live. I am scared of it, scared of the change that this will bring but your video helped me to understand that i need to accept change and not run from it. I really wish to you all the luck for your passion, you really have talent at writing and understanding what makes a story good. I hope you’ll keep that passion and that you’ll find what you want to do because don’t worry, we truly are all scared of the same things that you talked about. Every Man (at my age) I know once did or still does use videogames to escape from the great uncertainties of life. It gives us the possibility to experience progress when our life is nothing but challenging, goals lie years and years in the future and the stakes of every decision are too high for comfort. Please don't be too afraid in advance. Use this time to get your values straight and when the big decisions come round, be truthful to them and you will be the best version of yourself. And don't compare yourself to the man you might one day be but rather to the man you were yesterday.

It brings me great joy that people like you exist out there in the world, who think like this about art and media in such a profound manner. Thank you StoryStreet for everything.

I love that you just poured you heart out and didn’t try to judge this game objectively. Really makes it a much more enjoyable video to hear someone talk about someone that means a lot to them and just being honest about it.

i watched a video a while ago by a youtuber called Razbuten. it was about games that you wish you could play for the first time again. And for me this will always be at the top of that list. there is something about the feeling i get from this game, the emotions that come over me, the narrative this story tells will always hit me like a truck. I've been dealing with burnout and general aimlessness for a while now and i think your video really hit the target with conveying this feeling perfectly. i have been scared to take leaps, to take risks for fear of it not working or blowing up in my face. so thank you StoryStreet for making this video, for helping me remember that it's okay to take leaps

So I've never been a fan of car chase sequences in video games, but the King's Bay Chase in uncharted 4, was amazing when I first played, and is still amazing when I replay. It's crazy, beautiful, fun, scary, exciting, I love it. It showed me what a car chase in a video game CAN BE.

Im a senior in high school and i want to tell stories too. This video- your story- makes me more certain I want to go down this path. Even if I’m not some famous novelist, moviemaker or creative of some kind, so long as there’s some outlet for my passion for stories (KZbin is looking mighty fine rn) I’m willing to take whatever comes my way. You really help me, man I love these videos and your insight gives voice to a lot of links and things I didn’t know how to verbalize which later I use to express other ideas about other stories. You’re doing great things, even if not on the stage you wanted to, and I hope if you read this you get a little proud of yourself. Because I am so weirdly genuine right now I’m actually considering deleting this comment for sheer uncertainty of putting this mushiness out to the mercy of the internet. Love your stuff man. Thank you so much.
