I love how this short actually acknowledges that Uncle Ben never actually DID say the “Responsibility” line in the original comic. It was a narration box after Peter caught Uncle Ben’s killer that people always quoted. It was retconned into something Uncle Ben said later on. Edit: Ok so people are making a fuss over my word choice in the replies. Let me clarify. One way or the other, the idea of Uncle Ben being the one who coined the famous phrase was established later in Spider-Man’s comic history, and was eventually used as the baseline for famous adaptations like the 90s cartoon, Sam Raimi movies, and so on.

3:35 I feel this so much. Marvel needs to stop insisting on maintaining the status quo with Peter. It still astounds me that one more day is a comic. Like the fact that someone actually wrote Peter making a deal with the devil to trade his marriage for bringing his old dead aunt back to life. Let the grown man grieve and move on like his aunt would want.
@MalachiLper2 ай бұрын
Especially since just a few comics before that, he came to term with the fact that his aunt is going to die. That comic would have been fixed so easily if instead of his aunt, it was his wife that was shot, and giving Peter the chance to save her life but lose all memories of their time together, or grieve with her passing.

Or, and hear me out on this, make a wishy washy pseudo philosopical bs story about an unborn daughter, with possible futures that will never happen and a faustian pact with the devil like it's freaking 1832, making Peter look like a special child, all the other chatacters like douches, MJ like a non entity and breaking decades of established lore just because you wanted to reset the title. How does that sound? (btw, not that anybody cares, but in Faust the demon is very open about the pact Dr.Faust is making, it even warns him to stop before it's too late. In the hands of a damn good writer with an editor who's NOT ANYONE IN THE CURRENT STAFF, even though I'm loathe to credit Nick Spencer, YOU CAN MAKE THAT WORK AS A PERMANENT DEVELOPED CHANGE! Chip Zdarsky did it with Jameson, and suddenly, it all became stabilized, Jonah understood and even though he's still a cantankerous old fart, he forgave and now helps Peter out, the guy who used to rag on and smear and besmirch his image and name to HELL and all other evil dimensions and back, so you CAN make it work with the REST of the supporting cast

Nobody knows what Clark Kent is doing or what the Daily Planet is paying him for, or how much they are paying him. He occasionally answers the phone, and he seems to have acted as a bodyguard for some of his colleagues when doing field work, but most of the time he's not even in the office. But he has superpowers. Peter Parker has superpowers. He's a photoreporter freelancing for the Daily Bugle, he gets paid a pittance which barely covers rent and groceries. His free time is spent cooking up glue and mending his costume. He's a university dropout because arresting petty criminals doesn't leave him much time to study. "With great power comes great responsibility" is a proverb popularized by Spider-Man in Marvel comics, films, and related media. Introduced by Stan Lee, it originally appeared as a closing narration in the 1962 Amazing Fantasy #15, and was later attributed to Uncle Ben as advice to the young Peter Parker. The expression's connection to Spider-Man's Uncle Ben was a later development. While Uncle Ben had only two lines in the original story, later stories and flashbacks set when Ben was alive retroactively made the phrase one of his homilies to Peter. The first mention of Ben saying the phrase to Peter was in 1972, when Ron Dante (of The Archies) included it in his album Spider-Man: A Rockomic. However, this attribution would not catch on in the comics for at least another decade. The earliest appearance of a direct reference to Ben telling Peter the phrase is the 1987 Spider-Man vs. Wolverine #1 by Jim Owsley, M. D. Bright, and Al Williamson. The first showing Ben saying this to Spider-Man was The Amazing Spider-Man (Ser. 2) #38 in February 2002. So yes, Uncle Ben actually did say that.
