I encourage anybody who is interested in learning more about this Go and visit the distillery in Tennessee. I just went the other day and I was blown away.... All the artifacts are preserved and our tour guide gave the best tour full of detail and information

I hope they found his descendants and hope they reap the benefits financially. Nearest recipe is with JD and the new one is with Nearest. The college tuition being paid is BS. All that money JD has made. I guarantee no one from his family will have to work for anyone who stole from their father and everyone knew about it. I think it is not an honor but actually an insult to the highest degree.

People are getting things confused. Nearest taught him how to make whiskey but did not give him the JD recipe. That was changed and tweaked until they came to the final recipe.

Ummm, speaking as an African-American, with descendants buried in Lynchburg and relatives still living there, the name aside, for African-Americans at the time, Lynchburg was, again for the time, considered safer than other places in Virginia, and to a certain degree, "Progressive." A relative went to school there to become a mid-wife.

Makes me wonder what the relationship and the depth between jack and unc was. It's More than Just whiskey and Bigger than just a hidden history. Being from Nashville….i was shocked to find out about this story! My family grew up on Jack!! We always saw that photo with nearest’s son!! We really didnt think a lot about it! What an amazing story and legacy. I'm excited to try a bottle myself. I hope it's good. I enjoy many different styles, from the fruity Speysides, smoky peated Islay, bourbons like Knob Creek and Bulleit, and of course the classic Jack. The only one I haven't immediately liked is Laphroaig. I loved the smoke, but it was too medicinal for my palette. That was a while back though, so I'm tempted to try it again for a second impression.

This is called contributions, blacks have added so much to America, the fact that bigotry has worked hard to bury those contributions and place negatives instead has led to living lies. A culture of lies but as stories are corrected hopefully the lies about stereotyping not only blacks but other cultures will stop, the billions upon billions built upon the talents of blacks, the abilities of blacks have made many people super wealthy.
