So there's a German children's book called "König Leckermaul" (~King Foodie), where there's a king heavily invested into over-the-top-fancy dishes. @Gérald i didn't say it did, i watched it for the story, not the ero stuff, I'm just saying that it's not a normal anime, you can't "misunderstand" something like this. The anime is MADE for the ero scenes, it's an ecchi anime for a reason. Yes, the story is important, but the ero stuff are the main part of it, like it or not (and I don't, even tho the scenes are funny to me). It's the genre. It's like saying a hen*ai has a good story, which yes, it might, it might have the best story ever, but you can't "misunderstand" it, it's just a hen*ai with a good story, and food wars is just an ecchi with a fun story, that's my point. I did like the anime, the story was fun, the food battles were fun, the characters were interesting, but that isn't what I meant with the comment above. I was talking about the "without getting the wrong idea" part

The author is known for his ecchi series BUT food wars was written and published as a Shonen cooking serie, with the same codes, types of storylines, arcs, stereotypical characters, etc. as a regular Shonen serie. The ero parts are a lazy selling part of the serie. You can remove it and not change its core. The opposite is not true.
