I like these kinds of videos. The thing that tends to shine through most with live commentary videos is the personality of the person playing, so it's a nice and easy way to express yourself by just talking to basically nobody for around 30 minutes. It's nice every now and then when you're playing with friends, since the two of you can bounce off of each other. Big fan of your personality. You seem like a fun guy, and you seem to know quite a lot about both yourself and where you want to go in life, what you want to do. It's admirable.

If you're solo you've definitely got to hold back a lot more, retreat often and prefire spam chokes when you're low but when it works you can survive long times and be back in fights faster than 50% of the server on average which makes a huge difference for your team if played well.

3:04 Now that you mention it, I had the SAME problem some years back. Was convinced I was a damage magnet. But I got one piece of advice that kinda flipped a switch for me. Was watching a Steep tutorial because I was hitting trees too much in the forested parts of the game. All he said was your focus when you are running into them is ON the object, not the space in between. "Focus on the gaps and not the trees" and I insta became better at both tf2 and steep. Turns out intentionally putting your focus on the empty space makes it like 10x easier to NOT hit the damage.

@@jd9689 Every class takes little skill to play if you plan to play it inefficiently, it's not a Soldier thing, you can w+m1 as pyro, brainlessly heal one target as medic, spam pipes as demo, etc etc. Soldier has a pretty average skill ceiling if you want to Master/Main the class, comboing, rocket jumps, direct hits, airshots, strafing. So it's a pretty dumb logic to say a class has a low skill ceiling when only using the basic things of said class

W+m1 pyros are very easy to dodge out in the open, pockets are usually countered by focus fire, pipe spamming can’t even be done without choke points in most maps. It may be because I play a lot of sniper and scout, but soldier’s counterplay seems less like countering and more like running away. You can always say “but what about airblast?!!” and while, yes, airblast does do really good against soldier it’s a lot less easy then dodging flames or putting bullets straight into a pocket med. Soldier has a lot less counterplay than the rest of the crappy class plays.

At that mastery point it borders on overdoing it lol, that's why soldier is absolutely top three classes. Actually really big fan of these videos where you just play the game with some light editing and a really relaxed, silly vibe. Would love to see you play as more classes that aren't Engineer in a format like this. I got a lot of genuine laughs out of this video to the point I wish the video was longer.
