Good advice :) what was the lower half ‘fashion’ for the rain?
@NickLivingLife Жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing Tara 😊 That is a rain skirt/kilt. The one I am wearing is fairly expensive as it’s made from DCF and weighs only 30g. My thoughts are that my legs are waterproof so I only need to keep my shorts and underwear dry and life is good. Feel free to ask any questions you like in these comments. I’m happy to help wherever I can. 😊

@@NickLivingLife thanks I will look into it - my rain gear was a fail - lightweight North Face rain jacket and rain pants. It didn’t keep the rain out and I got so hot. I need a different solution for when I go back.

Good video. I learnt from an expert to shorten my stride when walking up hills. This does slow you down as you suggested. It also is far more energy efficient than the big slow puffing strides I used to do. I've learnt to walk more mindfully, and the ground is then my friend, not something to be bashed past! It's part of the being aware of what's around you that you said 😊

@@carolinesaunders6656 Thanks Caroline. Ive found hills so steep that I end up slowing to tightrope walker speed but I still don’t stop unless there is something to see that I can’t see from the top :). I actually gauge it by talking (to myself by vlogging if I’m alone) and if I feel like I’m getting out of breath, I slow down so I can keep talking.

@@tararenaemcgee5788 thats a shame. Yes, North Face has as much fashion wear now as legitimate outdoor technical items and its hard to tell the difference. Breathability is so important in rain gear as otherwise you get just as wet from condensation and sweat, which is even worse and potentially dangerous in cold weather. If you have a jacket with at least 20,000 waterproof and 20,000 breathability ratings that certainly sorts the top half. Ive never found waterproof pants that don’t cook me while I’m walking, although they are useful in cold and windy conditions. You can even make your own skirt out of a rubble sack if you wanted as fabric breathability doesn’t matter so much in a skirt. Legs are exposed but they are with shorts in a poncho too. As long as you don’t need to walk in long pants, its an option :)
