Damn there's a lot of these, apparently there's an impossible tag on trying to speak to dead with Halsin if he dies after getting kidnapped by Orin. In said dialogue if you ask him how he met his end he says "Orin's blades" and "I hoped my friends would save me..."

A lot of those Shadowheart lines were added in the files in some of the last patches. It's not cut content, but yet to be fully implemented content. There are also two entire camp files for Shadowheart where she prays to Shar in camp and plays with the Owlbear/Scratch. Now those two files have been around since release, so I'm not sure if they'll ever implement them, but they did implement the stool dialogue recently which was in the same boat as those two.

Yeah, "cut content" is just sorta shorthand for all this stuff. For example, the Minthara knocked out dialogue has been in the files since 1.5, but in 1.4 it was there in rough draft form with totally different lines (she was way meaner to you).

They did say the next patch is going to add some reactivity to (mommy) Minthara when you chose to knock her out, I'm guessing this is part of it. For the impossible Karlach scene I bet they left it in the release version as a small easter egg or something and later patched it out, that's why some people say they've seen it in game.

The only reason I know all this is I laughed when it appeared and took a pic to send to a friend, and then had to take another pic because I got a Nat 20

The Minthara bit in Moonrise was probably cut because there is no valid explanation for knocking her out outside of meta-gaming or extremely convoluted motivations. It's an interesting piece of dialogue no doubt but one the game couldn't accomodate for in its current form.

Well you could be playing a pacifist run and be non/lethaling everyone? Of course most people would be meta gaming but it’s possible it was Larian just prepping for someone doing something rare. I dunno I think they should have kept it. Meta gaming or not your character did decide not to kill her for some reason, it should be brought up.

⁠@@theredeft5319 No, they only allowed that method later because it was an exploit glitch. So they just moved some code to make it easier to accomplish. The point is though that they decided they didnt want players to have Minthara if they saved the Grove and because of the glitch “allowed it” again. The player base I notice has a hard time understanding this concept. Admittedly it’s Larians own doing because they keep appealing to fan service requests.

I've left so many enemies alive because I end up finishing them with a blow from a warhammer that's supposed to daze them, but then there's a crit or it just does more damage than I expected leaving them knocked out with 1 HP.

Very very good stuff, thank you for digging this up! I really wish there was a different line for Minthara though, when she asks you why you spared her in the goblin camp. Something along the lines of “Oh no I definitely meant to kill you. Yet somehow you’re still here.” That’s always the way I’ve tried to justify it when I’m playing a good character that still wants Minthara. Because it makes little sense otherwise why you’d want to spare her.

Well, in Patch 4, she had an earlier draft of these lines, as well as different options from the player. Nothing quite like what you suggest, though. "You seemed like a powerful ally but I couldn't bring myself to kill the innocent tieflings." "I found you intriguing and wanted you as a travelling companion but you seemed too set in your war path"

I think a lot of the impossible tags will be removed in patch 7. They had some lines in previous patch releases but they were buggy (such as Astarion's kiss lead ins where he says you don't have to ask but I'm glad you do etc).

OH, THIS EXPLAINS WHY I GOT THAT MINTHARA QUESTION IN MY RECENT PLAYTHROUGH BUT NOT THE PREVIOUS PLAYTHROUGH WHERE I SAVED HER. My other playthrough was on patch 6, not 7. Minthara asking why I spared her actually made me feel so confronted. Why did I kill the others but spare her besides some meta knowledge? Mystery solved! And I'm extremely glad they re-enabled that scene!!

I plan to look into what's changed in the files as soon as I can get my hands on the new patch. I do make joke edits to the in-game text in this (and other videos), but that Shadowheart line is actually in the game, during the epilogue . . It requires (no joke) being a Githyanki Dark Urge Cleric who didn't romance Shadowheart. You can find videos of it with the associated voiced lines on KZbin if you wanna see it hahah.

Oh ... wait a second, do you know if any of those lines were newly added by any chance? Because the dock lines for Gale sound like they are meant for Avatar-Gale (since he gets personally addressed) and I wonder if that means that they maybe have patched up his good ending so that he now gets a complete dock scene too. Currently, it's cut when looking at the river and gets Karlach's scene stuck on it without transition, missing the choice to got to a tavern together and watching Astarion's moment in the sun.

Yeah, Lae'zel is the only other companion with more to her phrases, when you kick her out. It changes from under 20 approval, over 20 approval, and Partnered.

Can you talk about (spawn) Astarion's hidden reaction to the player cheating on him with Mizora? Every other companion had voiced reactions and I saw that there are voiced lines of him being very upset and hurt (understandably), but for some reason they can't be triggered currently. It's interesting because he acts like he's fine with if he's ascended and those lines ARE in the game. But in the hidden spawn dialogue he's very upset and you even have to roll a persuasion check to prevent him from breaking up with you.

It's uncanny seeing the Tav actually talking in a cutscene. I wish there more scenes like this through the game. I heard the Minthara knockdown dialogue will be actually added into the game in Patch 7.

I know there's one that can trigger during the Githyanki patrol meeting in Act 1, but I haven't gone searching for others, yet. And yeah, I'm hoping some of these others will be in Patch 7, just like Minthara. There are a bunch in the Epilogue that I didn't show because they don't play properly, but I've already seen footage of one of them (with Wyll) from the Patch 7 beta.

I did two playthroughs. For the first, I stuck to my usual style-mostly benevolent but willing to get adversarial when needed. In the second, I went full chaotic evil, like a James Moriarty type-violent and unpredictable. I could see my character’s infamy in Act 1 and a bit in Act 2, but sadly, the later part of Act 2 and most of Act 3 felt like the game was on rails. My decisions didn’t feel as “evil” as they were in Act 1. I ended up stopping midway through, having seen everything I wanted to in BG3. I really wish the chaotic evil path had stayed consistent throughout.

The game has wayyyy more content specific to certain races. classes, and playstyles in Act 1 compared to the rest of the game. Though I do have to give them credit for slipping in a couple Background-specific lines into Act 3.

I actually got that minthara doalogue about sparing her lol, I had recently head about the recruitment changes and did everything as a standard "good" playthrough, except leaving her as the sole survivor of the camp instead of killing her. I was impressed they had it ready to go like that! I wonder if it changes if Dror and Gut are kept alive too🤔

Can confirm about the 4th wall scene for Karlach. Maybe playing directly after release during the initial burst of patches, transferring saves between versions triggered some bugs?

Yeah, I can't rule out some weird bug or corruption causing the wrong scene to play. All I know is that it had the IMPOSSIBLE flag already in version 1.0

@@SlimXG All I remember from that point (oh god it's been more than a year) is that the conversation did feel 'organic' in the sense that it did feel correct in context, albeit of course a surprising wall break. So not like a completely random scene played during a regular convo with her.

i think some of these lines were set to impossible after release, i've definitely heard my drow tav comment on the shadow curse b4

It's just slowly-developed content, it seems. There was an unvoiced rough draft with totally different lines back in Patch 4.

I know 100% for certain when i first played the game i managed to trigger the Karlach's 4th wall scene, i actually remember being confused as to why i hadn't seen it on my later plays. Perhaps there was a bug in earlier versions that caused it to trigger. Not sure what version my game was then but it would have been around August 2023 if that helps anyone.

I'm wondering with mod support coming in patch 7 if ppl will be able to restore certain lines or properly add them to the game. Since Larian won't be adding anymore content afterwards I'm curious to see how the game will continue with mods

I am curious, as well. A lot of what I do right now via brute force will probably be easier with proper modding tools. Though things like missing mocap can't really be fixed.

First I'm learning that other people's Tav can speak outside of context barks? All of my playthroughs Tav only ever says things when you click on stuff. "Wish I had a Bag of Holding" etc

Tav makes remarks from time to time, like when finding bhaalist killsite, picking up a piece of clown or finding thayan crate in Reithwin tollhouse. So it's not always boots that seen everything.
