He made at least two full length movies. One on the exodus produced by James Cameron and another hour and a half on the possible "discovery" of the tomb of Jesus. He's entertaining but also a fellow Canadian I love to hate. Meaning I like his shows but don't agree with everything he does. He can be disrespectful at times. Things you don't argue about in polite company politics and religion.

ETA: I recomend parental guidance to allow for the religious discussion and message the parents prefer. Documentaries should begin conversations, not stand in for actual education. The extra value in this channel lies specifically in the extra portion of information though the conclusions are sometimes quite questionable and the starting points of each movie a bit narrowed and the trailer a bit presumptuous and nerving - but a video and enticing movie must start from somewhere. There is also less than actual understanding of why John diminished and Jesus was exalted. It’s simply because it was God’s will. How do we know that? John himself said that he must diminish.,If one doesn’t understand the proposed plan, they cannot decipher the facts. Jesus didn’t take anything away from John, rather John gave it up. John’s mission was to prepare the way for Jesus.

John's sole mission was to prepare the way for the coming messiah and get people ready for the true messiah. Before Jesus started his ministry people were believing John was the messiah and he had to keep telling them no that he wasn't. When Jesus started his ministry that when he became less so Jesus could become more and fulfill his mission on Earth.

The translation into Latin was from the Septuagint and the original texts that we call 'proto-masoretic' are lost. The Septuagint was preserved in the Library of Alexandria, but not those texts, for some reason. They may not have been masoretic [from the Masorete Jews, the tribe of Judah] but from the descendants of the tribe of Ephraim and Manasseh who still exist north of Jerusalem and have a scripture called the Targum. The Kingdom of Israel was divided after King Solomon's death in 922 BC and by the time Christ was born, there were still at war between north and south, and the fact that Jesus was born in the North has been concealed. But that's why the New Testament tells us that the Jews wanted him dead instead of the criminal [?} Barabas. The Tribe of Ephraim and Manasseh had come out of Egypt with Moses and are called ISRAELITES, not Jews. There is an imposture: the State of Israel is not ISRAEL. It's the Tribe of Judah that was taken into captivity by the Babylonians. At their return in / near Jerusalem, Josiah crowned himself king. But the descendants of the real Israel opposed their scheme of reconstructing the temple there. Archaeologists have been searching for evidence of King Solomon in Jerusalem and can't find it. It's because they should be looking in the north. There was another place called Bethlehem there too. The 'Naked Archaeologist' has discovered it. An enormous synagogue or church has also been destroyed just where there is a cave in which Jesus must have been born. They want the whole saga to have taken place in the south.... deception and falsification of history.!!!!

Just started the video and noticed the production team sectioned the video off into segments. I love this. However what I didn’t love is how the “mysterious” characters they chose weren’t mysterious at all, they have been heavily mentioned, discussed and are well known to many. I expected this to be more about enoch, Melchizedek, and people of a nature that were actually mysterious not people seen as saints, the most loved humans, and most hated people. I don’t see much mystery in trying to prove reality from story. That’s called archeology.

There's Naked History: Baptists is a shorter form of Anabaptists, a 16th century reform group centered in Zurich, who rejected baptismal regeneration and church membership of infants, reserving baptism and church membership for believing adults. Due to rampant illiteracy and ignorance of everything beyond and surrounding environment, it is possible that Israelites aggrandize their historical accounts unknowingly. So, David could have been real and the legend he left is way bigger than he ever was. About John the Baptist, he could have been a recruiter of messiahs of sorts. He had the chance of becoming the Messiah, but he chose Jesus. Before Jesus, there were three other Messiahs that had died prior to Jesus that never made it to the magnitude of Jesus. It would be interesting to trace back from John the Babtist and find the head of the Cult. There was obviously a movement that tried several times to propagate the narrative very likely for what they thought were good reasons. It could also be that they just could not assimilate/understand the gods/deities of the past.

William of Malmesbury, an Anglo-Norman monk and historian, who wrote in Latin, states in De Antiquitate Glastonie Ecclesie [‘The Early History of the Glastonbury Church’* - 1135], that according to the ancient writings that were kept in the Library of Glastonbury before it was destroyed, Saint Philip sent twelve of his disciples to Britain to teach the word of life, and also that he appointed as their leader his friend, Joseph of Arimathea, the same who is said in the New Testament to have ‘buried the Lord’. I do find it extraordinary, that in the year 2022, we've still got people among us, who claim they do believe in a God? Yet not one of them can tell you about anything they've ever seen they could claim as proof of God's existence? Since when did any human being believe anything without knowing it's been proven? The truth, is, we all have our very own "inquisitive minds", so we all do know, that it's actually impossible for any of us to really believe a word of it, because our very own human inquisitive minds, will always be nagging away at us (in the background), demanding the proof, to believe it, and it will never stop nagging away at us, demanding the proof to believe it. It's actually known as a "human trait". And all of us do know this. We never believe anything without knowing it's been proven, you can think about anything we do in this world, and you'll always come to find, we only ever believe what we know is proven. What we always do, is, we prove what we think, before we ever believe it. We take any “theory” and we try to prove that theory, If we can prove that theory, then that theory becomes a scientific fact. If, on the other hand, we can't prove our theory, we never just believe it. It would be complete madness to do so! Seriously, the amount of catastrophic mistakes we'd have already made, (by not requiring proof to believe something), would have seen us making huge, enormous, catastrophic, mistakes throughout our history - we'd of perished long ago. The religious all go about things in a remedial, nonsensical way, they make no sense, none, not even a little sense. If we can't prove something, we don't ever simply just believe it, man! Especially something they want to live their own lives following? That's no different, from following a lunatic, who claims he comes from the Sun. It's no different, from believing in Santa Claus, except believing in Santa, doesn't cause war, murder, loathing of others and hate, only religion manages to do that.

Conclusive proof, categorical proof, undeniable proof, proof that leaves you in no doubt whatsoever? Right? Well, maybe some of you would care to answer this, then? Because with just three (very simplistic, easy to understand, questions), I'll now prove to all of you, that what you religious people all claim you believe in, can't be a God, but can only be, nothing at all, or the devil himself, (and remember, we all know what proof is)? So I'll prove it, conclusively, categorically, leaving you in no doubt whatsoever Like this... Both Christianity and Islam's most fundamental belief is that God is the sovereign creator, upholder, and ruler of the universe. And that he is eternal (ever lasting), omnipotent (having unlimited power), omniscient (knows everything), and omnipresent (is everywhere). (I've also found asking this question, that so many of these people who call themselves Christians, don't even know this is their religion's most fundamental belief) LOL, this is the reality today man! Anyway, these three (very simplistic, easy to understand, questions) are... Pay attention. 1. If the so-called God/Allah (controller and ruler of everything) is willing to prevent evil? But not able to prevent evil? Then it is not “omnipotent” (having unlimited power), proving it is no God. You do understand that, right? 2. If the so-called God/Allah (controller and ruler of everything) is able to prevent evil? But not willing to prevent evil? Then it is “malevolent” (having or showing a wish to do evil to others), proving it is no God. You do understand that, right? 3. If the so-called God/Allah (controller and ruler of everything) is able to prevent evil? And is willing to prevent evil? Then why is there evil? Now, because there is evil in this world, is undeniable, categorical, conclusive, proof (that should leave you in no doubt whatsoever) it is impossible for a God to exist! You do understand that, right? Because, if there is a God, who is omnipotent, (having unlimited power), there would be no evil, right?. This categorically, conclusively, leaving you in no doubt whatsoever, proves, that if any higher power does exist, then it can only be, and must be, the devil!. Think about it, use your own inquisitive minds, as this proves it. You only need to ask those three (very simplistic, easy to understand, questions) to yourself, to prove it to yourself. You do understand that, right? Now, also, before we have to read the less educated among us, attempt to deny this?, you really shouldn't waste your time, as this is proof that you're only following, and believing in, the devil. It is said that when Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was pregnant with John, John kicked in the womb for joy. Luke 1: 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist as he became known was CHOSEN to be the forerunner, to prepare others for the coming of Christ. THIS is the reason Jesus called John the Baptist the greatest prophet ever known. Maybe that is why some regard him higher in paintings. Just a little disappointed that Simca narrates that Josephus said that John The Baptist lost his head because he was getting a little too important - not because of a woman’s dance and her request for the head of John The Baptist. Simcha refuses to mention that another source of this story comes from The Bible out of The Gospel according to Matthew. Notice Josephus is not one of the writers of the New Testament. Although Josephus is well respected in the historian world, he was also known to write his accounts as to benefit himself. We know about Masada because of him, how is it that he places himself in all the famous 1st century accounts of an historical trauma? While it may be true that John The Baptist was getting a little important - so he could pave the way for someone even more important - The Bible said Salome danced in such a way that it pleased the king - after her dance, the king told Salome with all of his riches, he would give Salome whatever she wanted. After conspiring with her mother, she wanted, requested and received the head of John the Baptist....

So that piece of text was written by a man named Matthew who was a follower of the living jesus? What if I could provide you a narrative that jesus was a roman concept that was very cleverly woven into all the historic documents of the time, to create a more dorsal jew that wouldn't rebel that much? Remember how many ancient where lost, in mostly fire's, through the ages. And how old is the oldest unaltered bible that exists? I mean, to take a simple example, who did he think he was when king james changed the bible? He must have thought that he knew better than the word written by god, right? Yet millions (mostly Americans) are convinced that that book is the word god. Didn't king james have an own narrative? Believe what you want. Before Israël there were older, much older, civilisations that told the same stories. This a proven fact. That a man called Matthew lived that followed a holy living jesus and wrote a gospel...all three things have never been proven. There is no prove. There is belief but no prove. When my son was small he believed that dragons existed without any proof and nothing could change his mind. That is exactly like the average believer in my eyes...but my son grew up..the others not. A king that rides in on a donkey is a statement. I am not surprised by a stronger presence of John the Baptist in art or ritual or thought. The Alpha and Omega who makes all things new often points the way to the beginning of things while man strives for the ends. In truth the circle is unbroken though all of our experience says otherwise. I don't think our hierarchy matches that of Jesus. John the Baptist was the son of the High Priest. His respect in the community was very high. Jesus was the son of a carpenter. No religious authority.

The Bible does refer to John as paving the way for Jesus. Of course he would have been a bigger figure at a point in time. That Doesn't mean that Jesus was any less important but less known at a specific time. That is until John acknowledged him and baptized him. There is a whole story on that part along with the importance of it and the symbolism of it. All kinds of important figures throughout the Bible. Many of those also depicted in Old paintings looking like the most important person. They were in their time. They were also paving the way for what was to come though. John the Baptist followers or some of John the Baptist followers follow Jesus. Even in this day and age you have presenters introduce people. You have hype men to get people excited about what's to come. There are always people that are important in their own right to pave the way for what's to come. Many get people interested or excited about a thing or a person they are presenting. I don't find anything in particularly special about John seeming more important in old depictions and paintings. He was an important historical figure. Though in some places you don't even have pictures of Jesus or John what they find important is something totally different. Does that make Jesus in John not important at all? No!!! It just means whatever artist was painting whatever picture decided to depict and make important whatever they wanted to be the focal point of their painting. People try to decode paintings but I don't really think they mean anything. They are depictions of one person's beliefs or one interest. They tend to be an interpretation and not always 100% fact.

Please read the bible of the history of David. Jerusalem did not excist until the end of Davids life. It was Salomo that built it on a small place that David had bought becourse JHWH had stopped the plage at this perticular place. He were not allowed to build the city or the Temple due to his having spilled to much blood during his life. In the rest of his life and the wars to unite the country -which he did not entirely have luck with. But all his wars he collected material for Salomo to build the tempel. You should read the bibel and find out the real story of David. About a week ago, I read in a swedish paper about David killing Goliat. The place were the battle took place has a vert special kind of stones that are very hard and that for a skilled person it is very likely it could have happened as is told in the bible.

There are many who believe that unbalanced focus on John the Baptist or even Yeshua's mother, Mary, is misguided. Yeshua was both divine and human. Although superb representatives of human creation, John and Mary are still only human. They deserve reverence but not worship.

@Nicholas #51 yes of course. Plus, I have doubts about the talpiot tomb. I get the statistical and historical arguments. My POV is two-fold: how easy would it be to carve Yeshua into a box and how easy would it be to mistake some scratches or masonry marks for Aramaic. Plus, the Mariamane, josy, etc. names looks like a stretch. Truth be told, the ancient israelites would never treat a woman as on par with a man in the godly sense. Meaning, the judeo-christian God would never allow a woman to head his congregation. Great documentary though. The battle for an Israeli digging permit.

There are a few stelles meaning Israel or David but nothing related to Moses, Joshua, joesph, etc. I'm talking about a big stone carving saying "Joseph's sitting hole" and then, clarifying that this is THE joesph.

I've enjoyed watching The naked archaeologist for quite a while. However I'm not sure I like the way that he seemingly ties to disprove the fact that Jesus the Messiah. I'm not even bothered by the fact that he's trying to come out of from all sides. Most of the time it's like he's trying to disprove. Now no matter what I will be on the side of the Jewish people. However I find one big flaw. I see belief in nearly everything in Bible. Not just the Old testament but the New testament also. However for some reason the one thing that many of them don't want to believe is Jesus was the Messiah. There were a lot of other important figures besides Jesus add both Jesus and God gave them credit. Of course John the Baptist was a major figure and so were many others. Both Christians and Jews believe in all of them but the one thing they do not agree upon is who the Messiah is. Many thought that it just couldn't be this Carpenter son. They thought he was going to be some kind of rich and powerful leader. Though Jesus was a leader just not in the way expected. How can you believe in so many prophecies but this is the only thing that you don't believe???? Maybe it's they don't want to believe that he came everyone. I would hope that is not the case. The idea of God in heaven and Jesus his son have saved so many people. I believe that God chose the Jewish people to work through. I believe they were his chosen people in that sense. I believe in Jesus and that he came for all people. You can't believe just a few things and then wipe out the things you don't like. I say that about fellow Christians all the time. They will talk about specific abominations and forget others. We'll just cut around a little parts we don't like. From everything I've seen and the fact that the Bible is shown to be a historical record...... I'm not believe in everything and then cutting Jesus out.

Actually, the truth about John the Baptist can be found in Matt 14:1-12 and Mart 6:14-29. At 16:46 he says the story was a figment of Oscar Wilde's imagination. As well, then he imposes Josephus's opinion as the "real" reason. In fact, the latter reason could be true as well, but, the bible should rule in all matters of faith for believers, PERIOD! I have been undecided about if this "archeologist" is biblically accurate or not, and is he true to scripture. If he is, then watch and accept him, if not, discard him as a heretic. The above proves him to be the latter. Be wise, Be Blessed
