The thing I spent a lot of hours making in a very short amount of weeks was a big knitted shawl for my daughter for her wedding day. I chose hand dyed yarns that matched her dress exactly and had to learn brioche stitch, as I had started the shawl before realising it had brioche in it! I took it over on the morning of the wedding, and it looked beautiful with her dress coming right down her back in a long point. It was like a bubble Y shape. The pattern is Van Dijk by Malia Mae Joseph. It was made with 874 yards of fingering weight yarn, using 4 colours, a different one for each section starting with the lightest at the top going to the darkest at the bottom. She went upstairs to look at it and came down in a little pink jacket, that didn't really match her dress, saying if she had known I was making it she would have told me not to bother. I don't know what happened to it, I've never seen her wearing it as a scarf wrap in the winter or anything. I think that was the last thing I made for her out of really lovely yarn. Sue did get a chunky crochet scarf this year made from acrylic yarn. The funniest thing I was ever asked to make was a willy warmer for a friend who worked outside all winter.

@The Secret Yarnery thank you Christa, yes I was very upset. I couldn't say anything about it, though, as it was her special day. As I said I didn't make her anything for a very long time, I think the crochet scarf she had this winter was the first thing I had made her since the wedding shawl. I suppose we all live and learn about making things for those we love.

That is surrounded by solid sunflower squares in coordinating colors, and in the four outside corners I am putting your 3D bloomscape flower squares (the most recent one you featured)! A friend did ask me to crochet a fairy for her, but I don’t have the faintest idea of how to even start it. Hello Christa, the crazy thing I was asked to make was granny square shorts for my cousin Kyle, and I made them. He loves them and wears them. I have made several things that the people I made them for didn't want, like, or use. It hurts every time that happens, and I question if I'm even good at crocheting when it happens. You never have to ask if a pattern is wanted because, for me, the answer is always yes. I made your gingham blanket for my baby grandson Knox in the colors red, white, and black. My husband has requested one for himself. He loved how heavy and warm it is.

I think you need to choose darker color yarn for the bottom part of your roses. It should be darker than blue or yellow, because you naturally have your petals base in shade. Or it can be green (hunter green) that will continue to blend with leaves and stems… just a suggestion.

Well the yarn was not bizarre but I was asked to make 3 huge Baby Yoda dolls! It was the worst pattern (free and 100% not proof-read or tested) and oh how I got sick of green yarn after that. Lol! I’ve made your C2C gingham as a trivet! It was really fun to make! Yes to the caplet tutorial!!! I have a medical treatment on the back of one of arms and whenever the sun hits it, it stings! Therefore I have to wear a jacket even in the summer to cover it. That caplet would be the PERFECT solution I’ll bet! Excited for your yarn shop video. I love the gingham blanket, in fact, I’m making it now but with one strand of yarn and each square one of 4 colors (gold, green, grey, and multi of those colors). I’m just making it a lapghan though. I laughed at your fun Dr Seuss cracker hat, too funny. I love all your blankets and want to make that flower square one next. It takes me longer now as I get tired more easily, so anything anyone asks me to make I don’t want to make. Only what looks like I could make because of watching your tutorials for. Someone asked me to make a mermaid wrap type of blanket, although it sounded cute all I could think of was the time consuming and difficulty of it…. Ugh… thank you for all your videos!

Christa, you put together a great video. It is enjoyable to listen to someone who does not say "you know", or "okay" when speaking. I absolutely love your sage green and pink blanket. Those are the colours I had in my Shabby Chic bedroom in California.

The tutorials are the best, because your patterns are fresh and creative, unlike the same-ole same-ole that you can find in pattern or stitch books. The edgings you created for your shawls have been the prettiest... Foxtrot and Dragon's Teeth are my all time faves!! Who who WHOOOoooooooo can forget those fun Christmas pickles?!?!?!!!! 😃 PS: I mix and match yarn weights and fiber types for aghans all the time. I rarely use wool, but when I do, I make sure to stitch in a way that it won't pucker when washed... or prewash those sections before attaching, cuz I like making patchwork collages on occasion. Free form some of the time. I've never had a weird request for a certain type of yarn. My husband keeps asking me when I'll be crocheting him a pair of boxer shorts (underwear). He didn't know what kind of yarn would be required for a pair of undies. Hmmmm??

Really loving the coloration of your temp blanket!!! It’s unique and different. I crochet a saying with the words FU as it was the person favorite saying as a surprise. I did the words in popcorn’s in a dark color and the background in a lighter color. I was going to have it professionally frame…glad I didn’t…they weren’t excited as I thought they would be…something uniquely made just for them…never crochet anything else for that person. I really enjoy your podcast…love stack in the back!!! Such beautiful creations!!! I love the caplet and also the V shawl. And let’s not forget the Frankly Circle blanket!!! Looking forward to #125!!! Stay safe, cool, and be blessed!!!❤

Can’t wait to see that yarn store video, it looks gorgeous! My son asked for rainbow leg warmers and armbands for a play superhero costume. He also asks me to freehand amigurumi from pictures which I try but I am not exactly great at it.

Looking forward to it. I wish I could ask your opinion about a Teddy Bear Blanket ,I want to make . It's a big granny square with a Teddy Bear sewing in the middle. It has 24 lite granny squares around the edges. I t said make 24 little squares. So i made 24 squares. Then I read the pattern. She says to ch 1 between the clusters of DC's. I dident ch 1 .so I don't know if I should finish the rest the same way. Or ch1. Also the continuous join she uses sc instead of st. I don't know wat to do . Wish you were my next door neighbor

Hi, JANE DC5,CH3!! I wish we were neighbors too! I would ignore the chain between the sets of dc - that's personal preference, in my opinion. Continuous join as you jo might be hard for the teddy bear, but you can definitely join as you go one at a time - joining with the last round. Hope that helps? 🌻🌺🌼

Strange request….My sister asked me to crochet her a pair of pink and orange striped cotton shorts. I was so happy she wanted me to make her something! I measured her up and spent ages deciding on what yarn to use. I designed the pattern myself and took a few weeks to make (I work full time) they fitted her perfectly and since she tried them on, I havnt seen them since! Oh well, it’s the thought that counts!???
