I love this uncut series ... I am with Damo on using bait boats and stuff, old school ... the art of angling is still casting and all that, watercraft, is something you learn by doing it.

each to their own brother. I prefer the old days where you'd pull up and there would be one or two cars there, both of who you'd know and peace and quiet was the buzz. No spoms, no wrap sticks, no drones etc etc. Yes I sound like an old grumpy man, but I'm 53 years old and so the 90s were it for me. I know there are fans of the 60s, 70s, 80s etc but I only turned 16 in late 80s which meant I could fish on my own! Result!!

Hard to find people who will go to a hard lake for weeks if not months without catching.
@positvechao13 күн бұрын
I honestly have to blame youtube for that. When you got people posting banger sessions and not showing the blanks. Of course people want instant catches. Not to mention pre baiting that happens at places like norton.

Biggest thing I’m getting my head around as a younger angler fairly new to the sport is that the best way to learn is to just be out on the bank with a rod and some sunnies. So much confusion with all the bait boats, sonars and £1000+ pieces of kit it can be easy to miss what’s in front of you

Love this style of podcast so easy to listen to in the car. I would like to hear your opinion on Ali’s twig. And the bad feed back it’s had from a tackle company how damaging is it for someone to bring a bad product. And what would you do if it happened to you. Not just omc but also what do you think of other companies products and what ones do you wish were yours.

Korda would of pulled it straight away and rectified it. same as they did with the heli safe tubing system
@jamesfrost479314 күн бұрын
@GG-ch1hm the heli "safe" is 100 times worse than the twig. When the weight drops off a helicopter there isn't an anchor point allowing the rig to come off the leader. If korda had come out with the twig it would not have had the same reaction at all.

These podcasts are fascinating for someone like me who catches the odd carp but isn’t a carp specialist - had no idea so many use drones and bait boats or the lack of etiquette and consideration for other anglers which is rather sad. When I did a lot of carp fishing in the late 80’s there was always an unspoken “gentleman’s agreement” as to casting limits and swim boundaries, but then there were a lot less of us doing it and we had a lot of water to ourselves generally. A big part of the fun in angling for me is sneaking fish out from potential snags and features be that on a stillwater or river - rolling a chunk of spam under a bush on a small stream and not knowing if you’ll get a barbel, chub, ide or carp take it or whether they’ll do you in a root somewhere on the retrieve is the adventure. A drone or bait boat isn’t going to help there which keeps my wallet and wife happy 😁

Love the podcast, in my fifties now, I don’t knock anyone carping these days, I miss the days you could buy an RMC group ticket for next to nothing which gave you so much access to the best lakes, many of which are closed doors or years of syndicates waiting lists now . These days I just fish one week abroad now. Carp Talk was my social media back in the day. Thanks lads great podcast. Been a bit out priced these days with the cost of living which is a great shame for some.

I'm possibly going to say something controversial here, but is carp fishing ruining fishing ? I used to carp fish, but I love fishing for specimen size of lots of species, notably tench, roach, rudd, even bream. Anyway, the gravel pits I used to fish in the 80's & 90's cambs waters, either season, club or day tickets, I can't get near them now, why ? Carp syndicates, massively expensive and sometimes closed shop. I do miss evenings spent float fishing bread flake lift method next to rushes for specimen monkey wrench..

Love the content again, another great watch. I loved the tech bit as I really think with rig mechanics we’re as far as we’ll ever go now as I don’t think there’s much more we can do to move foward other than materials, new materials lighter but stronger and easier manufacturing processes. But bank side I think the electronic tech will just get more and more. Intergrating systems, better bait boats, gps, fish finders, etc and bank wear like jackets insulations getting better and more waterproof breathable material but this all goes back to material advancements, as I’ve said above I’m not sure there’s really much more end tackle advancements we can make other than advances in materials and working them.

Idea for a podcast discussion. The bcsg has it had its day ?? Are there any secrets in. ARP angling these days. Where the bcsg was formed it was the place to be and everyone wanted to be a member. Nowadays it’s just an old boys club who harp on about the good old days.
@damianclarke385415 күн бұрын
@FishyMan I’m a member of the BCSG and have been for sometime. We wouldn’t talk about this because it’s a pretty niche subject and I can’t see too many people being that interested in it. The group don’t take themselves too seriously and a lot has changed since its inception. Carp fishing was perhaps a little more elitist when the group was formed, it’s far far away from those times. They are a group of old boys with a love of carp fishing and perhaps clinging on to some old school values. Cheers Damo

Great watch as always. Absolutely love these. I have too say I think the future of carp fishing as in many other things lies with the likes of you guys and other manufacturers. Don’t make these items for sale and for profit and indeed popular and no one will buy them. But if you guys start showing the public things on vlogs etc then of course they’ll be wanted by the masses. I personally think that carp fishing in 10yrs will be so elitist it will become un popular. At the start of this podcast you guys were almost talking in code as not to give away lake names and locations! Syndicate and the ‘who you know’ attitude will ruin the sport. You spoke of pettits £300 scenario. It’ll just turn into yet another un fishable water for the like of me and many others. All in the name of making money and keeping the good places and spots for the minority and the who you know group. That’s the next 10yrs in my eyes. And it’s a dreadful thought. Norton and all lakes under the umbrella will be membership and waiting lists. Just to make pots of gold.
@positvechao13 күн бұрын
Of course you never what may happen, and you might be right (I hope that doesn't happen). But the Norton winter ticket is only from beginning of december till end of feb. Fishing is the only sport that hasn’t progressed. This is because manufacturers are just producing the same gear as each other. Where’s the innovation? No one will take any risks, they’re just milking old products.
@positvechao13 күн бұрын
Because too much technology will potentially ruin the sport. Like just imagine if in 10 years you could have sonar/heat signature stuff on an app on your phone. No need for Deepers or boats to scan for carp. Lakes couldnt even regulate that sorta stuff.
@ApexCypher_13 күн бұрын
@ I wasn’t referring to technology. I was referring to when Damian said things haven’t moved that far since the early nineties and he’s right. In fact a lot of gear has got worse.
