Jokic winning 2x back-to-back MVPs in 5 years would draw a lot of parallels to LeBron and Klutch Sports (who has some influence on the media) would not like that because of their mission to propagandize his alleged GOAT case. 4:25 to put even more context on this stat. Nikola Jokic is the last line of the defense. He got nobody to cover for him if his hands aren't there. Caruso,Dyson Daniels,Anunoby,Williams all those guys are point of attack defenders. Their role is to play hard defense, use their hands, be aggressive,take risk on steals so they are allow to do whatever on defense because they got someone in the back to cover for them. Daniels got Jalen Johson,Capela Caruso got JDub,Chet and even Dort Anunoby got Josh Hart,Towns,Bridges JDub got Chet,Dort,Carusso. All of the guys on the list are Wings defenders who are there for that role. Be aggressive,take risk and go for steals because you got the frontline to cover for you. Your PF and C's. Jokic is outpacing all this guys on deflection while being THE LAST ONE WITH NOBODY BEHIND HIM to protect his attempts,risk or chances. He's deflectings on high pressure,high demanding and you either get it or you allow a basket because nobody is there to helping you if you miss.

Over the last 5 seasons Jokic has had: ELITE defensive IQ ELITE defensive rebounding (Most in NBA) ELITE hands (top 5 in steals and deflections) A steal and a rebound are the best things a defender can do because they instantly end the possession for the opponent and gives it to your team. When you combine this with his IQ, he truly is a top 10ish defender in the league. The "defensive liability" nonsense has to stop.
@OlJackBurtonАй бұрын
welp, a steal requires opportunity or gambling on only a handful or two of possessions out of around 100, and to get a rebound you still need to make your opponent miss, which even the best defenders can't stop the best players from doing anyway. a steal is only in effect for a small percentage of possessions and rebounding is the last part of the possession and only if the opponent misses. there is a lot more to overall defense than just these 2 metrics...
@GTNoverАй бұрын
@OlJackBurton No one said that's all there is to defense. I said they are the two most important, and they are. That's been backed up by every basketball expert who has made any advanced defensive metrics, give those two categories the most weight. So maybe you know more than people like John Hollinger and Daniel Meyers, but I'm going to go with their opinion over yours.

The more you dissect Jokic’s numbers & stats, the more ridiculous it gets.
@gristle_lickerАй бұрын
@@SamuelBlackMetalRider this. I remember a time when I was a jokic doubter, years ago. then I started watching him. then I looked at the stats. then I asked myself "why isn't this guy all over the nba media???" we all know the answer, but regardless, the way he is great is different than all those other guys are great. he is just insane and consistent at it too. a game like 18/8/9 is considered a bad game for him and 90% of the league would kill to have those numbers
@magdalenapaulite-lemana2101Ай бұрын
Jokic plays unconventional basketball game! I've never witnessed such great passing, assisting and rebounding from MJ, LJ and other great players!!!❤

Giannis is averaging 33 points (leading the league in scoring) 12 rebounds and 6 assists on 60 FG% but nobody is talking about Giannis. I wonder why. Just saying. Jokic is a liability on defense. Giannis is a two-way player. Jokic depends on other dudes to play defense for him.
@No_Hate_Only_FactsАй бұрын
He won one championship now he's Jesus🤣🤣
@YoucankicktheballАй бұрын
@No_Hate_Only_Facts how can nuggets win so many games every year with a liability on defense and no all stars players other than jokic? Jokic is pretty solid on defense, always has been, watch the games and giannis is definitely doing a great season but luka averaged 34/10/9 last year and didn't come close to win mvp cause you have to win games.
@YoucankicktheballАй бұрын
@No_Hate_Only_Facts 1 chip 1 finalmvp and 3mvp so yeah best player of this era I would say but he's still 29.
@jessiegomez8209Ай бұрын
I will talk about Giannis.😂His shooting keeps getting worse.3 pt shooting One of the worst ever.Freethrows he is also terrible.He needs those dunks to keep his fg% up.Plus he's not a great team leader.Look at their record.Lots of points that have no impact in a game😂😂.😂😂😂@@No_Hate_Only_Facts

@rockysalvatore7352Ай бұрын
Dude imagine Kerr instead of Malone lol. Imagine Kerr actually teaching guys how to attack closeouts instead and bench actually w great movement and minimum tiring guys while joker sat. A dpoy covering up every mistake and do that always finds great or elite 3 and d guys top down. Shooters who are consistent everywhere lol. He would end games in the 1st qtr no exaggerating tbh. He'd go 150% 12 min and build a 26 pt lead and finish game w 8 to 35 pt lead
@oneilg8988Ай бұрын
The thing is, Jokic has the ability to do this every single year. We're only just seeing this absolute dominance because of all the injuries and a need to do this.

Off the court he is also extremely unique and charismatic in his own way. We had never seen such a character, but many understand how much the league needed someone like him.

Idk how Jokic does it just when you think he can't possibly get any better he comes out and says watch this and puts up an impossible stat line. And to think he's doing all of this with Christian Braun being the 2nd best player on the team because lords knows Jamal Murray and MPJ are nowhere to be found.

I'm a big and honestly, tiping rebounds to your self is so under rated. It's how I get most of my offensive boards. I've never seen it taught though. The tip just gives you that extra inch and a small tap to yourself is really useful if you are tall but don't have the best jump, because you have jumped a second time while more athletic players are still landing from their first jump.
