Undead Nightmare: The Full Short Story (All Cutscenes)

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare is a standalone expansion pack to the 2010 video game Red Dead Redemption. It adds a non-canonical zombie horror-themed single-player campaign, two multiplayer modes, and cosmetic additions to the environments and characters of the open world Western action-adventure game. Set in an alternate timeline from the base game's story, the plot follows returning protagonist John Marston, a former outlaw who sets out to find the cause and possible cure to a zombie plague that has infected his wife and son. Marston liberates towns overrun by the undead and assists non-playable characters with side quests along the way.
Shortly after being reunited with his family, John Marston (Rob Wiethoff) is trying to lead a peaceful life with his wife Abigail (Sophia Marzocchi), son Jack (Josh Blaylock), and friend Uncle (Spider Madison) on their ranch at Beecher's Hope. One stormy night, however, Uncle is nowhere to be found and the Marstons, assuming he had found shelter elsewhere, go to sleep. In the middle of the night, they are awakened by a zombified Uncle that bites Abigail, who proceeds to bite Jack, also turning them into zombies. After killing Uncle and tying up Abigail and Jack, John sets out to find a cure and goes to the town of Blackwater in search for a doctor, only to find it nearly abandoned. He runs into one of his former allies, Professor Harold MacDougal (Joe Ochman), who theorizes that a virus has caused the dead to come back to life. After MacDougal is killed by an undead Nastas, John encounters other survivors and helps clear Blackwater and the nearby cemetery of the undead, before learning that another two of his former allies, con artist Nigel West Dickens (Don Creech) and treasure hunter Seth Briars (Kevin Glikmann), are supposedly responsible for the outbreak. He meets with both men, who deny any involvement, although Seth voices his suspicions that the Aztecs had something to do with the entire ordeal and tells John to travel to Mexico.
John travels to Nuevo Paraíso, only to discover that it is in a much worse state than America. He encounters a group of nuns led by Mother Superior Calderón (Irene DeBari), who informs him that a woman told her Abraham Reyes, whom John had previously helped take over Nuevo Paraíso, is responsible for the outbreak. When John goes to meet with said woman, he finds her attacked by a zombified Reyes, whom he kills. The woman informs John that Reyes triggered the zombie plague when he stole an Aztec mask from some tombs, and became a zombie himself when he donned the mask. Venturing into the tombs, John and the woman are able to return the mask to its original place, effectively stopping the plague. The woman then reveals herself as the Aztec goddess Ayauhteotl and thanks John for his help, gifting him one of the four horses of Apocalypse to return home.
John returns to Beecher's Hope to find that Jack and Abigail have been cured, and is happy to be reunited with them. Months later, following John's death, Seth finds and steals the mask, causing the dead to rise from their graves once again. John is among those resurrected, but because he was buried with holy water, he is now a revenant, keeping possession of his soul.

@@joemama.556 Well in the game mode you get to meet Landon Ricketts as a side quest and he has lots of throwable dynamite and if you come to him with tonic, he will tonic + dynamite = pipe bomb (sorta) same thing with l4d2. You throw it on the ground while it's lit and the tonic lures them to it with the bomb innit.

He made an incredible survival tool. Sprinkle some of that behind a row of spikes, and the undead would build you a wall with their corpses. Soak a piece of meat in it and dangle it over a hole, and you could trap and burn hundreds at a time. Even something as small as a baseball filled with it - glass, wood, whatever - would let dozens of people escape. I interpret it as John glad he finally gets Jack to open up to him about something that interests him. I think the interpretation that John isn’t listening is also valid. This is what makes the story great, there is some room for the player to figure out what they think of the story.

I always interpreted it as John being in awe at how much more articulate and well-read his son is than him. He always wanted Jack to walk a different road than he did, and seeing him so easily wrap his head around something that most in the time period would just blow off puts things in perspective for him. Man the WHOLE rdr series is amazing but I think undead redemption is what actually pulls it all together the most. Knowing what we know now watch John be soooo goddamn awkward to his wife makes sense for who he is and what all he's gone through but watching him still be kinda awkward but more natural with his son is so fucking important. How the situation is never talked about at the end of rdr when he finally dies or when become Jack idk maybe there's some lore loophole for that but it's really really important to the whole story

No, Arthur would have fully decomposed into a skeleton. Though that depends if it was all over the world. His grave is in New Hanover, quite a way from West Elizabeth and New Austin/Mexico if you treat it as being huge like in the real world. Dutch, Javier, and Marion would be where ever the agents put dead criminals. Micah's body would be too frozen to ever move again, or like bodies on mountains eventually became a "leather covered skeleton" or eaten by whatever goes up that high.

Funny story… I played this one first. I’m an idiot but, It made red dead that much better when I got it and really think I enjoyed it more (because I’ve been hooked every since) the re play of this was just a completely different experience. Good times, I would never recommend someone do this but, it absolutely made the series better with my experience. Thanks for the time warp. By the way just finished rd2 first play though. 3 year play though. It was the most incredible entertainment experience I’ve ever had.

Rockstar have not done singleplayer DLC ever since Undead Nightmare, I think. GTA Online fucked their respect for singleplayer. The singleplayer Rockstar makes is amazing, but they just abandon it to beat the infinite cash pinata that is online.
