Hey. I designed a pretty good deck actually around the Skeletal Swarm. It also runs Scute Swarm, Piper of the Swarm, and Maskwood Nexus... the main pieces for an overwhelmingly powerful board of Skeletal Rat Scutes with Menace and Trample and you can sac things to steal opponent's big threats like Goldspan Dragon or Koma. It also runs Prosperous Innkeeper for a little lifegain and treasure ramp, the make a 1/1 pest learn card, and Binding the Old Gods as well as that -3/-3 wipe that excludes creatures of the type of your choice as a one sided boardwipe for some interaction. But it does make use of all 3 of Binding's modes also. Removal, ramp, then give your beefy trample menace scutes Deathtouch so all the damage goes through

I brewed almost this exact deck last week except fireblade and Showdown swapped with skullport and magda, and relying on treasure to cast extus when it made sense over the avatar. Really solid deck. I've been making almost nothing but treasure decks lately, the base package is just so good and splashing a bit of anything is hardly a problem. Other spells I've really enjoyed splashing: skeletal swarm, Hofri, Xanathar, Gnawbone

So someone correct me if I'm wrong but throughout the games he just wrecked the blood in the snow decks. The closest games was the first one with the skeletal warming where he top decked extus for the win. But this deck seems to have an easy time against these decks. I mean the synergy with extus and orcus bringing stuff back after blood wipe is good. I mean it could also be no mono green was faced and he is not in mythic, but deck looks great. I remember playing this but stopped when the blood deck and the simic deck came out to play those. Right now I'm into codie things....
@Kreinas19953 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's pretty resilient. I run just Rakdos with +2 Blood on the Snow +3 frostbite +3 dragonsfire +3 soul shatter +2 blood on the snow So, remove fireblade and white mana package, replace with removal. It tears through mono green and goblins with the removal, can t3 goldspan, kalain shenanigans, extus. It really seems like a t1 deck. This Mardu sacrifice variant just takes out all the counterplay for gas and finishers. Honestly Rakdos in general seems to have gotten a lot of love this rotation.
@fallguybuddy26543 жыл бұрын
@@Kreinas1995 Thanks for this. It was like I imagined. Like gas and finishers push through counters and the threat or early goldspan is good or extus for late game finishes.

I get people's frustration at seeing Goldspan Dragons everywhere but if your deck plays red then you're objectively wrong not to play it. 5 mana isn't a death sentence in this format, it protects itself if you're in blue (or white depending on your deck and MDFC choices) or enables you to guarantee get value off of it if you're in black by creating that treasure on its first attack. Sure, a non-targeting spell before it attacks gets made but then that's one less Soul Shatter for the next closer.

Interesting deck, but I absolutely refuse to play anything with goblins or dragons and endure the subsequent projectile vomiting. I can tolerate a deck with a sprinkle of red (Dinos etc.) but will never stoop to the evil heinous tactics of red. I crafted this, but took out the goldspan that on paper would make a much better coaster for my coffee cups, and added 2 Kaalia and 2 Snapdax, could care less about standard, have much better fun in historic and about a 53% win rate, I'll take it. That first guy is a clear example of someone who looked up a strong deck list online thinking just playing what the high level players are playing will net him wins, but has no fundamental understanding on how to play the deck at all.
@chucktestar60613 жыл бұрын
I will never understand this type of comment. When you pick up a new deck you gonna make mistakes and play abit slower, you will never play perfect on your first runs. Is net-decking your problem? You're watching a content creator who makes a living of showing magic players decks they might want to craft and play. Like whats your point mate?
@ryanbolson233 жыл бұрын
@@chucktestar6061 the point is people should be taking things they learn from the current meta or content creators like CGB and making their own decks with that knowledge. When bad players just copy a meta deck with a high win rate, they don’t learn why that deck has a high win rate, if they didn’t watch a video of it being played or explained they don’t learn the card interactions, and because they didn’t make it themselves they don’t know what they should plan to pull into. By copy and pasting a deck just because they want wins and nothing else, they are doing a disservice to themselves. And by not reading cards and building their own decks they further hinder their progress at improving at magic as they will most likely lose often to rookie mistakes because they don’t understand the deck. Where as if they made their deck with their own understanding of how cards will synergize they would at least be able to make informed decisions and grow from experience. Basic deck play styles aren’t hard to understand, but they aren’t meta. So the people who should be playing them and learning key points such as the color wheel’s strengths and weaknesses don’t learn that stuff because they just play something like for example winota. Just swing and you either hit strong or crumble and lose. No real card interactions, no difference based on the opponent’s deck style. Games just end up being played the same way every time. And the problem with starting with 1 particular meta deck, is it’ll probably win some of the time with little effort, such as Winota. And when they do start to get brave and built their own decks, because they are new those decks will most likely not play as well, and they’ll go back to playing the 1 meta deck they copied instead of learning and experimenting. That’s a horrible way to experience magic. There’s a huge difference between a new player picking up the mono green stompy starter deck and playing/misplaying it and a new player searching tournament play decks straight away and not understanding how to play at all.
