Awesome video, Mama Bear! As a mom I fully understand how much planning it takes to leave home behind, the way you are going to... and then have faith that they will be allright, although they might be confronted with the lessons they have to learn while you're not around. My own daughter (Kato, 11) is very adventurous too and loves to go trekking with me. Often times, when we're out and all geared up, she gets a lot of attention and encouragement from the other hikers. I guess that's no different for Little Bear. We'll be tagging along for the journey. Have a great adventure together!

Thank you! Yes, there’s a lot that goes into being a mama and I’m hoping to have all of my bases covered. It’s not only an adventure for Little Bear and I; my family will be on an adventure of their own and I want to support them just as much as they’re supporting us. Little Bear does get a lot of attention but she also does a lot of encouraging to others on trail, too. She’s so strong and fast that us adults often need her inspiration to keep us going. 😂 Keep trekking, Kato! You’re inspiring others as well. We wish you guys the happiest of trails! 🙏🏼😊💙

what an amazing mom you are! So practical and organized with how you 'manage' your family. If you're interested, I'd like to treat you and Little Bear to a homemade lobster roll and other goodies in the White Mountains when you arrive this summer. I've done it two years in a row now, starting with Jay Wanders Out in 2022 (see his day 173 on the AT for that), and last year I treated Happy Camphares (Week 18 on the AT about 12:30 into the video) on the trail as well. If not I understand as I'm a complete stranger and wouldn't want you to be scared of course. If your hubby and other children would like to take the trip I could have them meet you there as well (either Crawford Notch or Pinkham Notch). God bless you both on this journey and thank you for being such a blessing to so many.

Sounds like a great plan to take care of worries or distractions before hitting the trail. There are several ways to include family back home. Receiving postcards are great. You can make cards ahead of time that are labeled, 'Do not open until we have crossed (this state or milestone).' It can have positive notes. Maybe include a small gift card for ice cream during the summer. If they are excited to watch videos, maybe create a state BINGO card ahead of time. They can cross out key places along your trip. Of course, phone calls or messages always help. Enjoy family time before your journey. Hope you have many, happy trails ahead.

Thanks! I think so, too. The more I can handle before hitting the trial, the more we can focus on the trail. I would suggest that you do all you can to focus only on your hike. Worrying about your husband making it at home with the many resources available around town to support him isn’t worth your while. You’re going into the wild and people die every year hiking thru hikes. Additionally, you have Little Bear to worry about. You shouldn’t be thinking about whether someone at home has food. You should be thinking about whether you have done everything you can do to ensure you two succeed and make it home in one piece. Maintain your focus. Safety first and success second. Don’t be texting while you drive - so to speak.
@wildflowersadventures11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it. 🙏🏼 Just curious, have you watched any of our other videos, including the shake down hikes, Q&A or pack/gear videos? I ask because if you have, you’ll see how much I’ve focused on our hike. We’ve been planning and training for 2 years. That’s a long time. You’ll see that safety is our number one priority. And although we have done everything possible to prepare ourselves, physically, mentally, and emotionally, as a good mother and wife, I would not be in a good place if I felt I hadn’t taken care of my responsibilities at home. This hike is a 6 month adventure I’m privileged to take….that would not give me the right to go out of character and be insensitive, irresponsible, and uncaring and disregard my family back at home. After all, as amazing as this adventure will be, it’s a small part of our lives. I take pride in my family, and making sure they are good while I’m gone is just a part of who I am. Most mothers would understand. Being a mother and the way we think is hard to describe, unless you’ve been in our shoes. But anyway, thanks again. We’re confident and ready. 😊

@@wildflowersadventures I know you are an amazing mom. I’m a subscriber and I’ve seen your videos. I believe memories with our children are one of the greatest gifts we can give. But I have seen failures happen due to loss of focus. Whether it’s trying to enjoy a view while hiking, taking one’s attention from the ground, or it’s a leader not seeing that their actions are undermining the support of their team, focus is critical. You’re obviously going to knock this challenge out of the part, but don’t overlook wisdom and don’t think you’re more capable than anyone else, even though you probably are. Do all you can before you leave to not have to worry about the home. You really need to focus on the challenge. Watch where you place your feet and don’t look at the view unless you stop.

It's not as wild as you think. WAY more people die in cities and car wrecks then on ALL the trails combined.

How are you planning on filming your journey? Please don’t upload daily as it allows people to track your movements too closely. It’s not a good idea for anyone to do that but especially a woman and young girl. Good luck out there.❤

Hi there! Thanks for being here! 🙏🏼 As an LEO family, safety is always a top priority and a lifestyle we’ve become accustomed to living over the past 2.5 decades, so I definitely honor and value your concern. Although we do plan to upload daily videos (10-20 minutes long), our start date has never been revealed and our videos will be delayed anywhere from 1.5-2.5 weeks in the beginning. I can imagine that delay will naturally increase as we will not have cell service readily available consistently. Those components alone will make it difficult to pinpoint our exact whereabouts. Thank you for your comment. It warms my heart knowing many of you care about our safety. 💙🙏🏼

My word I thought everyone knew that the leprosy thing with armadillos is crazy. They don’t give you leprosy. You literally would have to eat them and it’s just not a thing anymore Google it.
