Late to the party on this, glad you reviewed it since it seems like no one reviews UA shoes.

Been looking forward to this. Thanks for the review. I ran my second marathon in the velociti elite v2 and overall I enjoyed the shoe a lot. My first marathon was last year in the Endo speed 2 and I've never ran in any other super shoes besides the velociti elite v2. I am currently a 3:42 marathoner. Im a midfoot to forefoot striker so I appreciate the lower drop with more foam in the forefoot. You're absolutely right about that pivot point on the midfoot/ forefoot, if you land more forward the shoe really gets you up on your toes and propels you forward. The combination of the foam, rocker, and plate gets better the faster you go. I liked the wide toebox, and also felt the upper was lower volume but I didn't have any issues with feeling cramped. If youre concerned maybe go up a half size and see how that feels. The upper was very breathable and wrapped around my foot nicely. The dual midsole combo is smooth and the shoe feels snappy and responsive and is definitely on the firm side. No issues with grip but I think under armour should scrap the flow midsole and add some rubber in the v3 to save some weight and add more grip. I found it very interesting that you compared the shoe to the Endo pro 2 because I've been training in the Endo speed 2 for years and the transition to the velociti elite v2 felt similar. I used this shoe in my last marathon build for speed work and marathon effort long runs. My current rotation is the rebel v4 for easy days and velociti elite v2 for speed work and long runs. Overall I think this shoe is best for intervals, tempo, and marathon effort long runs. It's a good shoe that works great if you want one shoe to train and race in. I think it works well up to the marathon distance but I also don't have any experience with any other super shoes. If you do decide the velociti elite v2 is for you then I'd wait to get it on sale as under armour always has sales. I picked mine up at 40% off and at that price I can't really complain. If I had to pay full price I'd probably pick something else. Thanks again for the review and hope this helps anyone looking at getting the velociti elite v2.

I have this shoe and the first thing i want to say is, that it’s a bit short and half size up fit me perfectly and i did not get any of the problems with the toes. Secondly it is heavier than other race-day shoes and makes for a great training partner to an adios pro3 or the Vaporfly 3. The shoe is extremely comfortable because it is stacked with foam and has a great rockered geometry. This combo makes it great for long runs and longer interval sessions. For me this the best “super-trainer” on the market right now and I wouldn’t mind racing in them if i didn’t already own lighter and faster shoes for HM and FM.

I have the velociti wind 2 and it’s too stiff a shoe for me, I’m guessing this might be the same if not stiffer withe the carbon plate. UA machina is a bit softer and more comfortable for me. Thank you for including UA in your reviews!
@TrailrunnerTroy7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your review! This was my first time trying an UA shoe. As a tempo trainer it’s superb: Versatile, smooth, not plush. The plate provides consistent forward propulsion and reminds me of the original Craft CTM Ultra Carbon, which I used to PR in the 100-mile distance and had a similar firmer ride. Not sure about racing in it given the very low drop. At slower speeds it could definitely be an ultra road shoe, but the lack of any rubber prevents gravel or road-trail. I would buy again!
@kofuzi7 ай бұрын
ah, very interesting that you bring up Craft. I'm not sure I'd completely agree with the CTM Ultra Carbon comparison, but there are definitely other shoes in the lineup that have a reminiscent density (the Px foam shoes)

I’ve been tempted to give these a shot, but I can’t justify the $250 price when there are so many proven shoes in that price range and even cheaper. Perhaps when they eventually go on sale I’ll pick up a pair, but I’ll pass at full price.

altra vanish carbon 2 is a zero drop shoe (but I will take a moment to point out that I don't think we can equate comfort and lower drop. for example, the Hoka Carbon Rocket was a 1mm drop shoe and I don't think anyone would have classified that one as comfy)

I don't own a single UA shoe. Might this be the one to tempt me? I'm leaning towards no. Kind of heavy for a racing shoe. Even with no outsole! I'm not a forefoot striker so I don't think I benefit from that extra "fulcrum" weight. And the inability to accommodate simple foot swelling as you note is the final nail. But hey. You could tell people you are bean powered. 💨

I think the biopebax would make it that long (the foam in the endorphin pro 2 felt like it was indestructible) but that SC Flow midsole/outsole layer could be the limiting factor.

Pretty harsh. 15 years ago I had a co-worker who was a sponsored UA runner, and I was extremely skeptical of her shoes, but apparently they're catching up to the industry. Considering the massive discounts available on this shoe, I'm strongly considering it for tempo and interval training.
