Under Deck Cat Enclosure

All it takes is some treated 2x4s, 2” x 4” 100’ wire fence, 3” deck screws, wire staples, and a couple hinges. Turning wasted space into a 216 sq ft kitty corral can be done in a weekend.

The cats are getting more comfortable being outside more than in now. The older ones are learning to navigate. It’s been so nice to not have to worry about getting them outside and having to bring them in.

No banged thumbs for me but lots of chapped, nicked, splintered and scratched hands. All worth it. I was asked about a tetanus shot update today and I was like, nah, I’ve been all in the dirt lately. No lock jaw for me. I think I’m good 😂😂😂That’s what hose water and feral GenX childhoods do for you.

When you do laundry and you find the staples in the dryer from when your husband put them in his jeans pockets. Your brand new dryer that you got maybe five weeks ago. Some of them are lodged in the dryer, and some of them are lodged in the lint trap, as well as the loose ones in the tub.

Do you have a litter box in the catio or do they just go in the dirt? Were you able to totally get rid of an indoor litter box? Also, what type of bracket was attached to the deck to support the board below the door opening? Great job! I love this!! ❤

Traci, my sister, has litter boxes in the enclosure and in the garage(where the window is). We used 2x4s between the posts to make the frame for the wire. Used 3” deck screws to attach the 2x4s to the posts. I used the post as the hinge point for the door. Added another vertical 2x4 as the door frame and attached it to the horizontal 2x4.
