79k on my 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum edition and turbo chargers Blew. Going back to dealer to have Cat converter replaced due to turbos contaminating it. Good thing I got the extended warranty when I purchased brand new. After this experience, will NOT be buying a Ford again.

*Is it possible to change the engine 3.5 and install the 3.5 ecoboost in explorer 2012? did the transmission on both engine have same size?*

I'm getting 10 MPG on this POS for my 2017 ecoboost

Okay we have a 2016 XLT 3.5 and we have been told a couple times its turbocharged from the dealer, they say we just cant see it. I dont see Ecoboost anywhere on the vehicle or motor plastic plenum and it has a throttle body to the air filter intake. I dont know to much about gas powered motors with turbos but with my diesel the air filter is hooked straight to the turbo.
@frisk0balla3 жыл бұрын
If it’s an XLT, there’s no turbos. It’s just a naturally aspirated 3.5L.

@@niceguy4928 yep, 2024 our 2018 still going strong, zero issues with the engine. Had a constant battery drain. That seems to have gone away after a repair to the wiring. Completely unrelated incident though, but no more dead battery.

Tell me about its the worst engineering by ford by far dealing with a bad water pump at 125,000 miles it’s a nightmare to replace

I had to do my water pump at 95k on a 2014 explorer, dealer wanted 3500 a guy I know did the timing chain pulleys and water pump for 2k flat, it’s a bitch job
@melvinjohnson70337 жыл бұрын
Propoganda video that failed to mention the poor engineering of the chain driven water pump that when it fails dumps all the coolant into the oil pan. About two grand just to replace the pump assuming you don't need a new engine.

Melvin Johnson All new engines have internal water pumps
@icyhotmike4 жыл бұрын
He did mention the vulnerable PTU being weak so not really hiding anything here. The water pump is a nightmare but its becoming more common to use internal units to save space. This engine would not fit in the Explorer or SHO with external plumbing. The F150 uses an external pump because it's got the space under the hood.

Not really a weak motor if you know cars, it’s a fun car to drive and fast for a suv.
