Sans must be dead, or the scene loses its impact. As for those saying Chara gained the EXP, that is incorrect. YOU chose to attack, YOU moved the box over, YOU dealt the final blow, and it was the actions of YOU that led to the moment. Chara may have enabled the actions, but it was YOU who chose to fight. Chara cannot be blamed for it.

Because Asgore *DID* kill all 6 of them when they just wanted to go home. and,we humans fear things we don't understand and we generally help our own species rather than things we don't even understand. Personally, what I think happened is that when Flowey tried to warn Asgore, he must have mentioned something alluding to your SAVE ability and how Asgore wouldn’t be able to kill us for good. Even Undyne the Undying’s Determination-fueled power boost wasn’t enough. They knew the only way to stop you was to somehow try to convince you to turn back and just stop, like Sans tried to do. That’s why Asgore just tried being nice, and why Flowey tried to reason with their best friend, Chara. Plus, even if one of them did take the Human SOULs, Frisk’s SOUL would have probably just done that whole “But it refused” thing. Of course, they knew this probably wouldn’t work - by that point, Frisk had been completely taken over by Chara - but there was still one thing that was guaranteed to bring your progress and reign of terror to a halt: the Barrier. If you left the Underground, you’d kill all of humanity, so their fail safe was to have Flowey make sure Asgore’s SOUL couldn’t be absorbed by you and let you leave, nevermind giving you god-like strength. Unfortunately, Flowey didn’t foresee Chara simply being able to delete the world once they couldn’t go any further. That means a Soulless True Pacifist ending is even worse than the Genocide ending. After befriending everyone and saving all monsters and returning to the surface, you turn around and quite literally stab them all in the back, and then you’re still free to kill the rest of humanity.

I'd actually love to see a Genocide hard mode where everyone is going at you 100%. We've seen some awesome fan-made boss fights built around this concept; my personal favorites are Asgore fighting with Flowey on his shoulder and the Alphys Takes Action fight.

That's what Undertale: The final run is for, it's an alternate timeline where flower warns the entire underground, and most of the underground believes flower, still, a regular genocide in the Ruins, but then it changes in the rest, Papyrus uses his best attack first, and he dies after that, also, don't think you have the same LVL, you will have a maximum of LVL 13/20 since a huge part of Snowdyn and Hot lands were evacuated

I dont think that the souls have personalities, but rather the traits. Maybe a monster can't absorb a soul if the monster does not want one of these traits. Asgore could not absorb the souls because he is not patient as he feels guilt for murdering humans, nor brave enough, nor kind, and he feels he has no justice, etc. However flowey is souless, so he could be a sponge absorbing the souls without any problem. Now something interesting, if all human souls have determination, if there is a determination soul, does that mean that that soul can have all or no traits apart from determination? Its the same as Flowey then, but without a soul. When flowey is omegaflowey, has everitying but lacks a soul, and when becames asriel, since there are a lot of monster souls, they became a human white soul, filled with flowey's determination. And that determination is chara's. Determination is a will, so only determination souls can have "personality".

Here's a expansion on the fake death for sans theory. What direction does your slash go? Up to down. What direction was san's cut? Left to right. It missed. Sans wants to tell you it missed, so using his magic, he displays MISS. But he doesnt this time, and he "dies". But, some of the blood is coming from his mouth. Now this may be possible, but let me tell you why it's ketchup. Sans's expression. He's smiling. Why would he be smiling in such an intense battle? And, when he talks, his mouth doesn't move. He's hiding ketchup in his mouth. And why does his pockets seem full, when they have got nothing in it? He's hiding ketchup in his jacket. And why is his hands behind his back? He's hiding something to cut his jacket. And when does he put his hands infront of his jacket? When he's "dead". When he cuts his jacket. His ketchup spills out his jacket. He drips the ketchup from his mouth. And walks away with the thing used to cut his jacket behind his back with the other arm. But, you still get 1 LVL. But the thing is, you get it when you THINK they are dead. And the player THINKS they are dead. So they get the 1 LVL.

I don't think absorbing six human souls necessarily warps you the way that it warped Flowey. I think Flowey chose a terrifying form on purpose. Asgore might have chosen to keep looking like himself or just to look slightly more intimidating.

I'm actually thinking of something rather interesting, whenever we Reset, the Monsters in the Underground retain fragmented memories of our previous experiences with them, with Flowey and Sans remembering everything. I'm thinking that after enough Genocide Routes, any Monster could glance at Frisk, and immediately recognize them as a threat, remembering all the fragmented memories of the moments that they died. Who knows, it might even come to a point where Papyrus finally comes to terms with the fact that we can't be reasoned with, and truely gives it his all in our encounter with him. Mabey instead of the boring Friendliness Petal fight that we begin our journey in the Underground with, or Flowey not being there at all, Flowey could take advantage of the fact that our only weapon is a stick and give it his all by shooting vines at us from every angle, mabey even doing a 2 on 1 team up with Flowey and Toriel battling together, because Flowey could warn Toriel about us, and Frisk's name would make her remember all her terrible deaths, giving us a deadly battle of a creature without a soul or morality combined with the power of his vengeful mother who was once the Queen of the Underground. There are so many possible outcomes, and unfortunately, new outcomes is exactly what Frisk, what we, would want

The reality of the genocide route is that it's supposed to leave you feeling dissatisfied. You're not supposed to be satisfied with that ending. You're supposed to be satisfied with the true pacifist ending. That's why it has such a big, grand credits roll that features the happy lives of everyone living on the surface in peace and contentment. The genocide ending really is supposed to leave you feeling terrible about it - the effect being that it's the ending that you do not actually want.

+fire creeper Many monsters can remember some parts of other timelines. For example, Toriel makes a guess for the pie, but rapidly dismiss it because there's no chance it could be right... It's a side-effect of SAVE, not Sans's ability*. The whole "Lost Souls" sequence consist of using this effect even after Asriel started messing up with the timeline with Goner Blaster. If you want to be poetic, you could say that even the most powerful being in the universe can't totally erase friendships ;) *I couldn't find a proof, but some fans argued that Sans manage to have one "déja vu" memory even after a True Reset... never managed to find WHAT event it was, so I assume they confused with his mentalist-like abilities.

There IS a way to get to Omega Flowey as a LV 20 Human, but the only way to do it is to hack. Even with the 20 LVs by your side, you still can only do 1 damage to Omega Flowey every time you attack. Although it is possible that Toby Fox didn't want you to have fun, and just set your stats to a set amount when you fight Omega Flowey, regardless of your LV.

I know I'm not a Patreon, so I probably won't get noticed with this idea, but could you make a discussion/theory video about the possible integration of other video game elements into the game's lore? We all know that saving and resetting are normally just game mechanics, but in Undertale, they're very much a part of the game's lore. The player/Frisk is actually resetting time in the game's world. So what about other video game elements like the battle system or the text boxes the characters speak in? For example, how is Asgore able to smash the MERCY option (or Omega Flowey just destroying the battle screen completely), or how are Mettaton's words able to be bombs if they are simply game features? (Of course, these examples could just be 4th wall breaks, but what if they're not?) I don't recall any specific information in the game saying that any of the other elements are in the lore like SAVING is, but maybe there are. Considering the fandom, there probably is already a headcanon/AU that does something with this, but I'm just not bothered to look it up.

Fanfiction That Would Be Lore Friendly: Via a super-secret trainer, the player can pseudo-level their stats but never actually knock down anyone, and acquire certain special equipment (a defensive bracer) that enables the ability to block damage at a percentage based on player LV. On a Genocide route, this trainer is not present, but the equipment can be taken (which is both the bracer and a shortsword), and the equipment is capable of blocking damage at a one hundred percent efficiency. This, along with some choices made that show internal conflict, will ultimately allow one to spare Sans, and tackle the one true challenge, putting Chara's soul to rest, via a difficult battle that involves being both merciless and merciful, knowing when to attack, when to block, and when to act kindly, slowly dropping the player LV back down to 1 before the final challenge begins, as Chara will break the blocking equipment and the player will be left defenseless. Manage to spare Chara and put their anger to rest, Sans will intervene, and thus begins the #ResolutionPath and lay the groundwork for the #TrueResolutionPath. You know, there always been something that bugged me about the Sans Fight. Who threw the second atack at him? The attack we throw when we fight is dodged, so who threw the second one. Most would say Chara, but, what if there never even was a second attack? It would hardly be the most meta thing he did during that fight. I have an alternate ending. It's about Gaster mainly. So if you erase the world,when you re-open the game,Chara offers the world back for your soul. But Gaster technically isn't part of the world. So with there being no time/space/world left,there's really nothing stopping him from showing up. So what if instead of Chara,re-opening the game reveals Gaster. He has been biding his time,waiting for you to erase the only obstacle between him and you. He is here to get revenge for everyone. Thing is, I'm pretty sure that the souls of Asgore and Toriel are so much stronger than any other monster ones, that just with one of them it's pretty sure the power that can be reached by absorbing one of them is enormous. At the end, in genocide, Flowey destroys Asgore's soul for you just to not take it, when you could have collected the souls of every monster you've killed so far, which is the whole underground, so I'd say that kinda implies that asgore's soul alone is as or more powerful than the rest of souls combined. Actually, once again, in neutral Flowey will kill Asgore, and will turn into Omega Flowey, in such state, he could definitely just kill everyone and absorbe their souls, but he doesn't convert into Asriel. By the opposite, in pacifist, where asgore does not die, he doesn't have such problem and turns into Asriel. Just a theory, but I feel that even if asgore just absorbed the 6 souls, he would have probably turner into something similar to Asriel, if we also add a determined Flowey to that mix, it's pretty much served.

After completing a genocide path and awakening Chara you're given a chance to save your soul but in order to do this you need to save and restore Chara's humanity. When you think about it you only find out about Chara after completing the true pacifist play-through. Is it possible that the player took the genocide path intentionally simply because it was the only to awaken the Chara's spirit and the player did this entirely with the intent of saving Chara? Once redeemed Chara will reveal the secret to saving Asriel. Thus True pacifist was not the true ending but rather part of a longer journey to save those you couldn't the first two times around.

You know the way you explained genocide hard mode, it sounds like a series called undertale Distorted, Distinctive Destiny (DDD). It’s a story made by a talented animator named theking35. It is in short if the player is so determined in undertale that they played the genocide mode 1000 times and the game gets distorted and messed up the game and every character finally rises up and uses there full power to take you down. It’s incredible, and I seriously recommend you watch it you’ll be shocked, entertained, and even emotional if you really care about your favorite characters in undertale. Adding on to how completing the Genocide path "corrupts" the game, when you 'kill' Sans, he says "don't say i didn't warn you" He could have been referencing Chara, or referencing the fact that after beating the Genocide path, you are unable to complete a True Pacifist ending (unless you do some file editing), and you would instead get a Soulless Pacifist ending, with (spoilers), Chara looking at you, then to make a slow and low pitched Photoshop Flowey (yes, it's Photoshop Flowey, not Omega flowey) laugh, and then a picture of Frisk's friends with red scribbles on their head, and with Chara's body instead of Frisk's, and then creepy music that is slowed down in the background. Since Sans can have memories of different timelines, he might be able to remember seeing Chara if he didn't actually die and he would have played a joke on you when you 'kill' him. I've never been so happy to hear a theorist say Sans's "blood" is just ketchup. I've been saying that to others for WAY too long, and my own friends often say things like, "Oh, Sans went through something Papyrus didn't." "Sans and Papyrus are probably not brothers and Sans was tortured by Gaster." "Skeletons come from humans, whenever they die, maybe Sans is bleeding because of that, or he still has his organs" or "Sans mast be different from other monsters." But, Papyrus and Sans both state they are brothers, and if they weren't I'm sure one of them would give a HINT of that. Sans and Papyrus have most likely been together for years, so if Gaster DID do something, they both would've been affected. Sans's, at the most, has done something that lets him know a little more than Papyrus, I mean we know he's lazy, but he's no idiot couch potato. He's lazy, but he makes puns, can see other timelines, teleports, is probably the hardest monster you fight in the Underground, has a secret tiny lab with a strange machine, and proves time and time again he's smarter than we think and knows people we, as the player, have never seen. Clearly he IS something more, but monsters just DON'T bleed, they turn to dust when they die. For Sans to bleed when you kill him, he'd have to be human, and I'm pretty sure he's not. And if one made the comment that Skeletons are closer links to human, then Papyrus would've been bleeding too. Also, if Sans had his organs, we'd know, after all, doesn't he walk around with a white shirt? If he had organs and blood veins, I'm sure we'd know.. It makes absolutely NO sense for Sans to bleed AT ALL, no matter the reason. He's a prankster, and we know that battles can be adjusted or moved around, given in our fight with Sans, we move the box to be able to hit him while in the fight box, during his turn. Who's to say Sans even does 1HP? He might, yeah. But if you can cheat by fighting when it's not your turn, then who's to say you can't lie about your HP, Defense, or Attack? Sans is a joker, it's not too hard to see his altering his information to seem weaker for a fight against a mass murderer. And that's not even bringing in the 'blood', which everyone often brushes off or claim it's real. If everyone believes Sans loves ketchup as much as they think, then it makes PERFECT sense why he'd "bleed." He'd probably store a bunch of ketchup packets in his shirt, under his ribs. Not only because he likes it, but because it's added padding and could protect him from a deadly blow, like a small murderous child that's got a bunch of LV and EXP. I mean, if you think logically, it only makes sense. He's lazy, but not an idiot, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him do this.

Undyne mentions that Alphys did, in fact, warn Asgore, but he failed to prepare at all and, instead, tries to talk down a genocidal maniac that has no intentions of sparing him and actually manages to initiate a fight on their own because of their eagerness to kill him. The monsters don't always act smart in the Geno route (i.e. turning off puzzles as they flee, thus clearing the way for you), but you'd think that even a softie like Asgore would take you seriously after most of his subjects have been killed and he has been told about it and told that the killer is coming for him next by two people, as Flowey also warns him. Poor Asgore, you took the same route as Papyrus and got torn to little smiling shreds...

I think Flowey could have absorbed not only the six human souls, but the broken piece's of other monster souls. Then he would turn into an abominitation, and kill the player. He would be undefeatable, unless you decide to go on a Neutral route where you can't kill the minibosses. You can kill every random encounter instead. And when you get to defeat Omega flowey on that neutral route I talked about earlier, then the genocide abomination flowey would be killable, but the player still needs to defeat Flowey. Just to make those suffer who dare to kill the main monsters.

I don't think LOVE affects health totals in Omega Flowey battle because of how strong the souls are, it actually seems like Flowey doesn't entirely want to kill the human as when we are low on health, he deals less damage, probably for the better as otherwise we would lose in like 3 hits, or maybe it's the souls lessening his power before we even free them.

Actually, in the true pacifist route you fight ASRIEL. You save everyone and all of the monsters can go to the surface. If you return to where you first fell into the underground, you will find asriel. Asriel will talk to you for a good amount of time and he refused to leave the underground because "someone has to watch over the golden flowers". In the neutral route you fight Omega flowey. If you defeat Omega flowey you can either spare him or kill him. You only enter the neutral route if you kill a few monsters or if you gain anything over 1 LV. After all, in this world... It's KILL OR BE KILLED! In the genocide route you fight sans he will judge you for your every action, every time you killed a monster, every time you gain LV, he knows. He won't kill you unless you kill EVERYONE he has to keep his promise to Toriel no matter how much it hurts him. But, if there is no one left in the underground what's the point of keeping a promise that will only get you killed. After you defeat sans, you only have 2 options, ERASE or DO NOT. It's your choice. You will die either way, but really Frisk and Chara were never in control. But then again, neither are YOU. I hope this was helpful, please don't tell at me because I don't know how to spell or what I said doesn't make sense. I tried, okay. I don't have perfect spelling and I just had down what I know so far about the different routes in undertale. I have not played the game yet. Welp, have a good day everyone
