I was already enjoying this album more and more as I listen to it but I have a new respect for this song in particular. Thank you Spencer for being honest and true to who you (and the rest of Underoath) are!

Spencer and Underoath as a whole have alwaysbeen awesome in my opinion but no drugs and a badass album fully clean that is rare for bands

This makes me like them again. I was upset and turned off that they lost their faith but I do see that he had his own journey. I do hope that he will find God again. I wish him the best.

Spencer...I am so proud of you for overcoming your drug addiction and telling your story and being an advocate for others...I am a Christian, Underoath fan, and it just breaks my heart and makes me angry, how the Christian community treated you...Rapture is amazing, I found it rather ironically on a Christian Rock playlist haha, TOTALLY misplaced lol, but boy am I glad, such a good song...anyway if u are reading this I wish u a happy & healthy life!

Good for you Spencer! Mad respect bro. Sorry you and your band get so much hate from the Christian community now. Like I always say: "God's love is unconditional; under a strict set of conditions."
@chrissavage52986 жыл бұрын
I believe you're referring to the hypocritical state of the institutionalized church, not God.
@MonRoeTheory6 жыл бұрын
@@chrissavage5298 no, I'm referring to the idea that is God. But you are right, the church is extremely hypocritical.
@Tessa3yearsAgo Жыл бұрын
@MonRoeTheory I know this was 5 years ago, but I have to say this. God is not an idea. Ideas come from people. God was not thought up by man. He is a very real being. Everyone loves to blame God for the faults of man. Just because He created us, doesn't mean we can attribute the sinful and despicable nature of mankind to Him. He gave us free will. As someone who has struggled with addiction, I can definitely understand the immense scrutiny that comes with making a personal struggle like that public. But honestly, he was treated badly by sinful people, who will be judged for their actions, just like we all will. It may be 2023, but people are still just as bigoted as they've ever been, and that doesn't just apply to those who claim to be Christians. I've met plenty of extremely judgemental, bigoted, callus non-Christians. He shouldn't have been treated that way by anyone. It's still a poor excuse to reject God. And something tells me that the public reactions would've been similar even if his previous audience wasn't largely Christian. People are just eager to point out when a group of supposed Christians allegedly does something wrong because it justifies their own prejudice and bigotry towards Christians. It's just another story among the ocean of stories that depict how fallen our world is. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 mentions a great apostasy that will occur during the end times. This is just one example of that prophecy unraveling. Many will fall away. I pray that these men will turn back to God before it's too late.
@MonRoeTheory Жыл бұрын
@Tessa3yearsAgo no offense to you, but I can't help but chuckle every time I hear somebody say that God is very much real, yet can't provide any evidence other than personal experiences and the bible. God is, in fact, simply an idea. That is why there have been thousands of gods throughout history. And if there is any proof that God is simply an idea, especially the Christian god, all the evidence for that is in the Bible, ironically.

I went to go see Underoath at Pops in st louis earlier this year and it was pretty good show... Until the end where he spent a good 8 minutes telling everyone the sob story about his drug abuse. He wanted to play one of the new songs for the encore and nobody said a word lol. So they decided to play a new song and then Writings on the wall for the encore.

It is crazy to think that this guy and the rest of the band used to claim to be Christians. For him to think that he can just on his own kick an addiction is ridiculous. As someone who has had a problem with another addiction not drugs. You can't do anything on your own strength, ultimately you will fail and go back. It may not be for a while but you will eventually go back. The only way you can be free from an addiction is to surrender your heart and life to Jesus. In John 15:5 Jesus says "apart from me you can do nothing". And literally this is true in every since of the words spoken. As someone who tried over a 14 year period to kick an addiction it was not until I surrendered to Jesus that I found even an ounce of freedom. Jesus is the only hope we have in this world of truly being free and having power over anything. We in our own strength are weak and we will go back like a dog goes back to it's vomit. I hope and pray this guy really surrenders his life so that he can remain off drugs.

Oh dude. You know that people come off addictions every single day without jesus. Also many addicts who depend on Jesus yo fix their addictions never get better
@safeharborpro6 жыл бұрын
I guess the responses I get on this are to be expected no one wants to be confronted with the truth about Jesus and what he can do and who he is. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is God, I am just choosing to do it willingly. And I realize that people can come off of drugs without Jesus the same way a person can stop stealing or lying or cheating or any other sin that puts you in control of your own life rather than letting God have his way in your life. But eventually no matter how "Good" you are or try to be, you will fail. And on that day will you choose to finally stop trying to do things in your own power or will you finally realize that Jesus said through Him you will be able to do all things as he will give you strength to overcome. I know many drug addicts that Jesus delivered and they never went back to the stuff because they realized what he saved them from and that they were "powerless" to do anything.
