Perhaps it will grow on me, but it's certainly nothing like the Underoath of 2004-2008. But whatever, these guys have been through a lot and have changed and they all probably listen to totally different music than they did years ago. It's completely unreasonable to expect a band to keep the same style album after album. I mean, just look at how their style evolved from the pre-Spencer albums to Chasing Safety to Define to Lost in the Sound to Disambiguation. Sure, Erase Me is shaping up to be a much more dramatic difference than the previous album to album changes, but let's not get up in arms that they have gone a different route. Having said that, this new Underoath music really isn't my cup of tea. I'll probably buy the album, but it may take a while before I really enjoy it. Perhaps I may not end up enjoying the album at all. Time will tell.

What most of you don’t understand is that Underoath hasn’t released an album in almost a decade, people change, the way they write music changes. After like 7-8 years of the Almost, this record sounds like a streamlined Only Chasing Safety smashed into a heavier the Almost. Here in 2023, every band has taken this approach (bands like Resolve, Invent Animate, Erra, and heavier acts like Brand of Sacrifice) or straight up ripped it off bands that did it 4+ years ago. Which is crazy, them getting lauded for this 'refreshing' direction, when UO did it back here. I Give Up is a monster anthem, and one of 5 watershed moments in UO's catalogue. In my opinion.

They’re evolving. They’re way past their emo days. They’re in their mid thirties and screaming metal is clearly where they don’t wanna stay. They want underoath to go in a different direction and tbh I’m loving the clean vocal colab of both Aaron and Spencer. My biggest pet peeve is the digital noises before a lot of their songs in the new album. I honestly feel they’re experimenting with where to go as a band and with their music. The song In motion is solid!

Why did i like it? bc it was different, creative, and provoking. One of my favorite bands, I have always supported them. It is impressive they are still making music. BUT THIS song is a lack of creativity. Wouldn't have known it was underoath if it didnt say so. Honestly if this generic sound is the best they can come up with, I am disappointed as a long time fan. I know they are so much more capable than this. I will continue to still support you guys and continue to follow. However, I don't feel this music was written for your fans. I really, really like the vibe of this song! I was hoping for some screams in the outro, but that chorus hook is super good. It makes me feel kind of like when I first heard "Unsound" in that it seriously breaks the mold of what UØ can be when they come together to create. I love that every single album from "The Changing of Times" to "(Ø) Disambiguation" provides a different sound and energy. While I truly can't wait to hear the "I'm Not Feeling Very Receptive Today", "Everyone Looks So Good From Here", "The Only Survivor...", and the "My Deteriorating Incline" type tracks, it just feels so damn good to see these boys back in action at all. CoinGhost and I’m glad you’re judging what the band has been doing by this single. You must have early access to all the studio/production videos too because idk where you’re getting those quotes. I’m sure butthurt dudes said the same thing after Reinventing Your Exit was released not knowing that Dallas had already been working on that song with them before Spencer, like you seriously cannot know what goes on behind the scenes. Also if Kurt Cobain had taken your attitude Nevermind wouldn’t have been a blip. Production matters to a band’s future and maybe just maybe they don’t agree with you. What you could see as valuable assets to a song, they may see as musical masturbation at this point. People change but you’ll always have the old shit. Move on like they did

Pretty much every member of the band seems restricted on this track. Really isn't living up to expectations or even their talents. But who knows, maybe this "post 30-Underoath" is like this, this is what it's like to turn 30 and to "face the music", every possible pun intended. Still buying the album though, I'm definitely curious. But this song just sounds ok, good, listenable, not boundary-breaking, interesting or one-of-a-kind. And to me that's what this band is at their best. But this back ain't turning on you, my brothers, keep on creating.

it irritaes me when ppl seem unable to let go and grow with any band. Lets these guys find their way, support them if u want to, but otherwise keep ur bad news opinions to urself. have u any idea how hard it its to make good music these days? theres so much controversy and negative opinions; yet you all have no experience in music. such a waste of time. try and think how u would like to be talked about if u were in their shoes/ pls guys keep doing what u love to do and even if the fans are fickle keep ur faith and remember why u started to make music in the first plc- to connect with ppl that you love even if they dont love you-ty

I love how some comments are basically complaining they released a catchy single. God forbid a band want to release a song that gets stuck in your head and has a bit more radio appeal than some of the other tracks. I feel bad for artists when no matter what some will never be pleased. This song jams, it's a definite earworm even if it isn't "hard" enough for some.

I love how everyone is saying their music has "Matured" yet they were actually original, wrote way better lyrics and the instrumentation was 10x better back when they were younger. This is so ding dang darn bland.. boring. Probably could've explained that better but you know what I mean.

I don't care what anyone says, I've followed them since the beginning and I certainly appreciate the evolution. People will always complain and say this isn't underoath, but I think they forget they aren't the same person they we're 10 years ago. If they are than that's a huge problem because change is growth. I appreciate their growth deeply. Keep doing you Underoath because no one should sway you from the path your on if you believe in it! I'll always appreciate the older stuff but why would anyone want 5+ albums of the same shit.

Pains me to say it's a huge letdown. Bland & too Sleepwave-inspired. Too electronic and overproduced. Not enough Aaron. Hopefully this is the light end of the album. Far too much BMTH sell out vibe emitting at the moment sadly.

Old familiar face, that bitter taste She's been hanging around too long That crooked tongue, so pale, so young Makes me warm Take me to the darkness, hang me out to dry Tangled in your legs, in the webs of your lies Lead me to the rapture, set my body free Higher than the flames, set blaze inside of me, whoa There's no turning back There's no coming down I'm forever lost There's no coming down Oh, I'm skin and bones, pale as a ghost I know that I should be moving on But in your embrace, you know I'll never change Hopeless, I am chained down on my knees Take me to the darkness, hang me out to dry Tangled in your legs, in the webs of your lies Lead me to the rapture, set my body free Higher than the flames, set blaze inside of me, whoa There's no turning back There's no coming down I'm forever lost There's no coming down When you call my name, I'm never far away When you call my name, I know there's no escape Take me to the darkness, hang me out to dry Tangled in your legs, in the webs of your lies Lead me to the rapture, set my body free Higher than the flames, set blaze inside of me, whoa There's no turning back There's no coming down I'm forever lost There's no coming down

Unreal people want bands to make the same album and live the same sound over and over, how boring are you. The same people that criticize from the luxury of their phone. Underoath has and will always be a great band. Give change a chance, mind you people change.

this song sucks cuz they forgot their creator, blamed god for their problems, when really it was just drugs that caused all the problems. It was their faith in God that brought the passion into their music. it is not here and they openly admit it.
