Roaring in something weak to Future Sight is the second most fun use of phazing! The most fun is phazing a Wish Clef and totally nullifying any healing capabilites it has.
@tylerd12973 жыл бұрын
I couldn't figure out why when I peeked at the suggested movesets for GalArticuno and other Psychic type were using Future Sight (I'm mostly familiar with the older gens And haven't played SS OU). Not sure why it wasn't like that to begin with especially if Dark types weren't affected by it.
@catandfishfc3 жыл бұрын

@@catandfishfc I gotta learn more about the SS meta to see if I actually like it or not but it's cool seeing Pokemon that had fallen down like Slowbro and Swampert get back to OU in their non megas.
@sephikong83233 жыл бұрын
@@tylerd1297 Basically for Future Sight, it forces switches which can be very good with hazards up, but the main reason is that with Teleport the Future Sight user can just safely bring in something else that deters Dark types / Steel types as well maybe (best example is the pairing of Future Sight + Urshifu Rapid. If you want to switch in a Urshifu resist like Toxapex or Amoonguss then Future Sight deals massive damage, if you try to sponge the Future Sight with a Hydreigon or Heatran you take an uncontested CC. If your opponent maneuvered to be in such a spot that's a lose/lose scenario for you and you'd better try to recuperate your losses later). I should also mention that we're at a point where you don't even necessarily run it with Teleport or even ...... well to explain, we're at a point where Choice Specs Tapu Lele legitimately runs Future Sight in it's move sets to force switches and give good positioning to it's team mates As for Swampert, Flip Turn made it genuinely incredible as a pivot and Stealth Rocker, the fact it no longer drains all of your momentum changed everything for it

So this kinda reminds me of a small rant that I did on Fake Out, which was a tool that earned me more damage than I ever deserved. It was effectively a Protect, that guaranteed chip damage on mons I normally wouldn't beat. But in practice, I've found that it also allowed me to pick off mons that I wasn't never supposed to attract. I learned this when I first started playing LO Mienshao in X/Y. Later on, I noticed that people would use those fake outs to switch in their Gengars. When I picked up on that, I started reading their pivot attempts and going for Knock Off / U-Turn (This is before I started utilizing Pursuit.). I feel like this is something that could stand to be brought out.

Great video as always just one thing that was strange to me in the gen 5 portion was not mentioning riolu because albeit very niche and probably just kinda bad overall it’s quite literally the opposite of the defensive phazing which I always found cool but other than that amazing video as always and continue making “content”
@Neferens3 жыл бұрын
Amazing podcast, as always! Something I'm curious about is how the usefulness of phazing varies over the game. Perhaps you could have put more emphasis on late game phazing? One aspect I consider is that the odds of phazing in a specific pokémon increases with each knock out. Another aspect I consider is that when there is only one opposing pokémon left, suddenly phazing moves are useless. Your videos turn my commute into pleasure!

@JustN0tMe3 жыл бұрын
Well Ive been playing PokeOne and since I dont have all moves on my Tyranitar(my wallbreaker), I have Roar. What I found out is that Roar works like U-turn, as in instead of my mon switching out, Ttar sends back its checks/counters, forcing them to take hazard damage and confirming which mon the foe wants to sent in, which means that I can safely switch in my own check/counter to the incoming mon.

I don't think you did a video about this already, but a video on the power of trapping would be interesting (Although the majority of the video would probably be another dugtrio video). Why is it called phazing rather than phasing?
@disasterarea93413 жыл бұрын
because phazing is short for pseudo-hazing. Hazing refers to using haze, which resets all stats, and I think it's based on the idea that both of them can be used to nullify set-up sweepers. These days, "phazing" is so much more useful and has so many other benefits, but the original term stuck. - Disaster Area
@erikcarp93593 жыл бұрын

I don’t think these were mentioned at all (and to be fair these are not very common occurrences lol) but don’t forget about… 1. The 20% chance of phasing in a sash Pokémon (when hazards are up), making them significantly worse. I didn’t play old gens so I don’t think this was a common set, but for example, phasing in sash Dugtrio into rocks just completely destroyed it from being useful lmaooo 2) having a phaser that can set rocks against a team with 4x rock weak mons (such as Vulcarona) that are normally very good at spinning/defogging… again, that 20% chance that you get in a Vulc or a Zard right after you set rocks (before they can clear them) can reallllly set-up the end game soooo well for you haha
