I went to a therapist and when I told him about my sexual abuse I suffered as a toddler, he went on about how that wasn't the cause of my depression. It was my hormones. Then goes "do you know how to make a horemone?" I said no, figuring he was going to break down the science. He goes "you pay her $2" Now I have a dark sense of humor but that on the back of me opening up about something traumatic when I was barely more than a baby? It was the worst. And he was like mid 60s

End of Story 47, I think the reason it feels more cruel to hurt and abuse animals vs humans is a few reasons. Animals can’t communicate, they can’t tell anyone that they’re being hurt or abused or neglected, not directly at least. And animals are almost always innocent in nature. There’s very rarely species of animals that kill just to kill or harm just to harm. When an animal attacks, there’s a reason behind it, with that reason normally either being fear or defensiveness. I also think it’s because domesticated animals, especially dogs, love unconditionally. It’s why hearing of harm or abuse of a child is also awful. Animals and children, by default, love unconditionally. To know someone used that unconditionally love to abuse and harm is just…awful and unthinkable to a normal person.
@sunnyandthechlo4 ай бұрын
Also, the animal will never understand why that happened to it. They may wonder if just any person will start treating them like that.
@AmandaHugandKiss4114 ай бұрын
Actually there are many animals that abuse or torture other animals for fun...(of their own species and other species, look it up) But I get your point, we as human beings should know better, except the reality is we are just as prone to this as children not to mention, humans have been thinking of ways to torture other humans since the dawn of time.

Yeah, former friend said, "If it were me, I would have gone all the way if I knew I was getting 60 years." Everyone in the chat went absolutely silent for over 30 seconds. One friend broke the silence by straight up calling him a pedophile, then we had to hear the song and dance of backtracking, "that's not what I meant," cupcakes, you name it. It's scary how his wife just nods and agrees with everything he says.

I mean tbf the bad feeling people get is due to our subconscious pattern recognition that kept us alive for thousands of years. It's wrong occasionally but it's incredibly accurate most of the time and you should listen to it.
@eh17024 ай бұрын
But those anecdotes are not about the writers’ weird feelings, they're chiefly about those other people’s lack of boundaries way beyond inappropriateness: lack of moral restraints, or moral compass, or actual dangerousness - as evidenced by what they were happy to do or to disclose. Although I agree Mr Bodysnatcher guy had a whole extra delusory pathology. Maybe in his right mind he wasn’t psychopathic. Seriously: if you know a hundred people, you know at least one full-on psychopath, but three or four others who are high enough in psychopathic traits that they will be destructive to those around them - whether it’s malice or just sheer “don’t care as long as I get what I want.” As best I can describe it, that feeling -it’s when you have sudden, unexplained revulsion or wanting to get away NOW from someone who is likely good looking, well-presented, attentive, friendly, super sociable, super likeable and liked, super nice-and-helpful. Psychopathic charm is a real thing, and if you think you would not fall for it, then I guarantee you have, but didn't realise it. Most like this that I’ve come across are not interested in personal violence, but that doesn’t mean they have scruples about it, or any other kind of harm. They will ruin your career or reputation or relationships - as easily out of boredom or passing annoyance as out of malice or ambition. Or to shift blame. Or just because it’s less inconvenient for them that day. When that instinctive revulsion happens - and it could be with someone you have known for a bit - it seems an inexplicable feeling. I think what it really is, is you perceiving a deep inauthenticity. A mask over a void. It isn’t just faking being nice, more like faking being human. Don’t bother trying to warn other people what you see as off about this great guy/girl: it’s you who will be distrusted then. So yes, there is a real feeling, and you should pay attention to it. One thing you often see over time is they don’t just fail to fake the appropriate emotion at times, but may fake the wrong emotion. Like sympathy instead of anger. Try to not accept help from them, nor offer it: either one is their opening to exploit people. Take note of what they tell you about themself, whether it’s biographical or self-characterisation. Do not challenge or offer up to them their own contradictions to be explained away. Just keep a neutral distance, don’t hang around with them more than you can help.

It wasn't even sport to her, we were simply disposable. We got in the way of her wants, and she didn't care about the long-term effects on others. Others were merely there to serve her goals. I used to sub at a school where there was this absolutely insane 5 year old. He was constantly attacking children and staff. He lived with his mom and aunt and even they were scared of him because he would attack them without notice. Like both of them frequently had large bruises, scratches, and bite marks. You could always see this look in his eyes when attacking, like he absolutely meant and enjoyed what he was doing. One time when I subbed in his room, I was helping another student when he grabbed one of those plastic milk crates and lobbed it at my head. Luckily I saw it in time and just smacked it down out of the air. It stung my hand pretty bad but I didn't show any emotion and just turned to continue working with the other student. From the corner of my eye I saw him look shocked and then disappointed. His TSS removed him from the room for a bit. That was the last time I ever had to deal with him though because of an "incident" just a few weeks later. He was out in the courtyard for recess with all the other kindergartners when a bird landed near him. He had one of those plastic wiffle ball bats and proceeded to beat the bird to death in front of all the other kids. This enabled the school and his mom to 302 him. I heard he was held for several weeks and then was sent to a special school. No clue what happened to him after that but literally no one in the school missed him.

You're listening to an hour of stories about psychopaths. Know yourself. If you easily become upset, scared, anxious or teary upon hearing disturbing things, then don't watch or listen to that kind of content. I don't mean to be unkind, but the world does not owe you a "trigger warning." You will come across distressing things in life without any warning, we all do unfortunately, and they can be very upsetting. Those instances are unavoidable, but voluntarily listening to disturbing content and then expecting to be warned about disturbing material is not on them, it's on you. Look for the clues, like "psychopath" in the title. Just stay away if you think you might be upset.

There's an autobiography recently come out about a woman who is a diagnosed sociopath and she talks about what it was like for her growing up with no empathy, consciences and sense of right and wrong. I only got to listen to the first few chapters for free but she described how the only times she ever felt a strong emotion was when she did something 'wrong', so until she gave into that urge it was like a build up of anxiety/itchiness/feeling wrong in her body then some sort of relief when she took action. For the stories here about evil kids, it does make me wonder if some of them are actual sociopaths.

He is almost 13, and he hardly learned how to read and write because of his destructive refusal to learn. His parents are also lazy pieces of crap that would rather beat their child than actually teach him anything and they treat their four (yes four) ferrets better than their own son. @@anerdygoldenagesoprano **gestures to where I said I know it's part and parcel with psychopathy** I just mean, it's possible to do a video like this while leaving out the animal cruelty stories. I don't expect anyone to go that far for my sake, of course, but it hurts nobody to take an extra 5 seconds at the start to acknowledge that there *is* animal cruelty mentioned in the video; I'd rather hear that than have to hear about poor creatures being buried alive To be clear, I'm not trying to make a big fuss like I'm queen of the universe and I need to be catered to because I don't want to hear about something. I'm just trying to bring it up for consideration for the future

This is like clicking a video saying "Really bad car accidents people get hurt" all on your own, then watching it... all on your own, and then making a thoughtful opinion to voice your concern over how OP didn't give a warning about gore... this comment you made is that. Just don't go to video that can potentially trigger you maybe? Life doesn't give warning labels on how crappy, difficult, and downright horrifying it can be suddenly, so will you write a message to the creator? I hope he or she will listen and tell you the same thing here.

@thelazarous4 ай бұрын
How in the world is it not environmental when there's literally trillions of interactions from birth to age 18? Every little thing makes a difference, your parents raising and eyebrow vs not raising an eyebrow when you tell them something you did can make a difference. While some people are born with certain proclivities, environment dictates pretty much everything. It could be one little thing, or a whole lot of things that keeps a psychopath from becoming a murderer. It could also take one little thing or a whole lot of things to bring a non-psychopath to be driven to murder.

genetics really play a lot on a person, but it does nothing alone, the enviroment develops and turns on certain genes that the person has. peopld have loads of potential outcomes and is the enviroment and how the person reacts to it that defines wich gene will develop
@darkstarr9844 ай бұрын
It’s usually only a combination. Usually. I believe it’s from day one for the rare people who had everything just right.
@Genni48624 ай бұрын
Absolute ignorance. Many issues are environmental. I've got BPD- It's possible there's a genetic component, but it's considered a TRAUMA based disorder- meaning it's caused by trauma. People saying crap like 'other people go through what you did and are good contributing members of society' is a fantastic way to tell someone they're a failure for having a disorder that they didn't ask for. I hope you educate yourself before you speak.

She had been my only friend through my entire formative and early teen years. I'd tried to make other, far more compatible and enjoyable friends, but aside from a pair of new friends in the later years, everyone else would drop and avoid me pretty quickly after we initially started started to hang out together. I wasn't the only person who thought it was entirely me. "Debbie" was so much prettier, smarter, more popular, and more organized and ambitious that I would ever be, so I never understood why she would stoop to being my friend when it seemed no one else would. I'd never made the other connection either... When Debbie wasn't around, my life would become much less "colorful", but more importantly, it also became much more quiet, stable, happy, and productive. The two friends I'd finally made were after Debbie had to stay with another family member in another state for a couple of school years. When Debbie returned, they told me to stay away from her. Moot point, as I was the one to move next, and it would be out of my home state forever. Flash forward just under two decades later. Debbie rolls back into my life again, but it doesn't take long to note she's almost exclusively after reconnecting with my mother and handsome-but-married brother. We catch up on the past, and I remark that I'd gone into therapy back when because I was always lonely, depressed, and in trouble as a child. Debbie rolled her eyes and smirked and said it was a waste of good money. She was the reason I'd had no friends. She was to be my only friend, and she needed me to be focused on her exclusively. It felt like my head was going to explode. Still reeling from her previous revelation, I note my housemate's dog is taking a meaningful squat in the next room, so, I rush to get it outdoors. I come back and complain that my housemate needs to start being a more responsible pet owner, as I'm finding myself the always and only one training, and caregiving for the big goofy beast. In the same tone as one giving advice about the best way to address a hangnail, she casually advises me to take the dog deep enough into the open desert for it to die of starvation and thirst before making it back home. I couldn't hide my horrified expression, and she sneers. I was always such a pretentious thing. Seriously, if you can't solve this issue any other way. Well, you know. I politely-but-firmly bum-rushed her out of the door and then began blocking her on every front. Over the next eight years and three relocates, she would occassionally drop unstamped no-address letters into my mailbox. Her long beautifully handwritten letters were all about how I was the disturbed one, and I owed her more and better, and all kinds of variation on her and herself. SHe's finally gone in the physical sense, but I still have nightmares about her.

Weed is not hallucinagenic but people with a family history of schizophrenia can react badly to it. It increases the risk of symptoms flaring up. Not as dramatic as he made it sound, but surprisingly true

Well: "Young men with cannabis (marijuana) use disorder have an increased risk of developing schizophrenia, according to a study led by researchers at the Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health." I assume from that for one.
