Love this! Instead of asking someone if they are happy, we can ask them if they have peace. I’m always thinking of what really is “be happy”? Other people seem to have it but I must not have it because I feel depressed. From this conversation I will try my hardest to not self identify the word depressed. I give that word so much power over myself. I’m always wanting to find videos on how to get out of depression but there really are not many. It make much more sense to work on having compassion for others and compassion for myself through my experience with feelings of loss, grief, and anxiety. I know and own the fact that I have been distracting myself from the pain intentionally. No denial because I’ve experienced these absolutes of life before. How did I get through them before? Well I would say I most likely haven’t fully. I continue to distract myself while also trying to find ways of not feeling badly anymore. That just doesn’t make sense. I hope that this moment of clarity will stay with me. My saving grace is actually a meditation video here on Lauren’s channel. Every time I play it I feel like I’m hearing my mother saying it’s ok. You are ok. She is one of the current losses I’m experiencing in life right now. I feel so much comfort and compassion from Lauren’s words in that video. It’s called “when life is too hard” ❤ thank you Lauren. I don’t think words could every say how grateful I feel for you.

Some of us just have to pull ourselves up by our own boot strings to get through things... Done that for quite a while... Then theres those that find meditations like yours that are a blessing in so many ways...

'You can't be a people pleaser and be compassionate...'wow! This has given me something to think about! This is a light bulb moment..people pleasing is egoic. This is a hard one to get my head around. Thank you❤

Maybe it would help to think of it like if you are a people pleaser you are spreading yourself too thin. When you spread yourself too thin you are maybe in loss of control of saying no to your boundaries. The boundaries that help you keep yourself healthy, safe and happy. We might think the term people pleaser is looked at as a bad characteristic but maybe it’s just that we have been putting others before ourselves for too long that we do lose that ability to be fully compassionate. Think about a mother who does everything for everyone else in her life, not just her family but anyone who needs her, but never takes time for herself. We would probably say that she is burning out. We might say she need to make sure she is taking care of herself before she can help others. So finding the right balance between the two is sometimes difficult because she will have to say no to some things. Finding compassion for herself….. I dunno, but that’s how I’m digesting the information. Very much a light bulb moment! ❤

@@leahgolden7242 yes, that is a good way of looking at it. Sometimes we may think it is to be kind to other people to please them but alot of the time we are not putting our boundaries across. Sometimes if we have always put others first we may not even know what our boundaries are. I'm in my 60s and have only just started to figure them out! X

@@lornabooker7328really? Well that make me feel less alone in these concepts because I’m 38 and feel at times, like I’m the only one who hasn’t figured anything out. Life is hard and nobody tells you, or we don’t listen to them because I don’t recall every being prepared for how hard life really is. Maybe we all learn certain lessons and become wise to them at different stages of life. I’m not sure lol ❤

@@leahgolden7242 I think that the environment we grew up in , particularly religion and culture has alot to do with it too. The catholic religion I was brought up with told you to put others first and not to think or become self aware in that sense. I spent my life working with special needs kids, now have grandchildren and its still hard to say no. Compassion to me seemed to mean doing for others, which in turn meant people pleasing. Now I'm more self aware and try to pause before acting or reacting. Yes, life is hard and bring ing up ones shadow self and showing compassion to our darker side is very hard. I wish I'd started earlier...you're still young and you can do it ! I wish you ther very best.

The animal and conscious divide is almost similar to the feed the right wolf parable . Its always an inner battle of two wolves. One wolf is filled with fear , lonliness guilt , anxiety etc . The other wollf is filled eitb peach, joy,,love ,compassion. Which wolf wins the battle? The one you feed. Hope everyone finds the peace, love and joy they are looking for. 🙏❤🙏

I love that analogy.... And its so true... But outside sources can bombard and overwhelm... Until you can break through the chaos, the black is fed ... Not always by you but usually ends up happening... Thats when ya need to stand and reject that input, stomp on positive input to swing the balances in the other direction, and level out ...

When you said, "Do the values in this group actually mirror who I really am?" Wow, so simple yet something I don't do. Mindfulness meditation also helped me. The book "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels has some practices I like. Thank you for this.
