Sometimes I just like to understand things a little bit better, and be able to see both side sides. I do know there is some kind of percentage of kids that could never have a conversation with their parents based upon perhaps premature conversations about it they have witnessed, that just happened to come about along the way based upon maybe the reactions or the comments that their parents make. It is kind of sad to hear that a child would feel safer talking about their own sexuality with their teacher or administrator at school, then their own parents because and based upon fear. It’s just a sad reality all the way around, I’m not one for government over reach by any means at the same time I would never want a child to be abused or minimized or rejected either. It just creates such a polarization in trying to figure it all out because you don’t want to hurt anyone and you don’t want to point fingers at anyone either. I do want to certainly give thanks and credit to those parents, that can always have good own honest and open conversations with their kids, and being open and accepting to their hearts and feelings though.

Talking to students about ANYTHING sexual can quickly land a teacher in hot water, especially male teachers. This law says that it's up to the kid to determine who gets to know. If the kid suspects their parents to not have their best interest in mind if it comes out if course the teacher telling the parents would be bad for the kid. I'm confused. So these kids will ask others to use their personal pronouns in school but when it comes to teacher/parent meetings, the teacher is then supposed to use the parent's preferred traditional pronouns for their child for the sake of hiding it? The only reason why kids would be confiding special pronouns to their teachers in the first place is if they are teaching this in the classes. Imagine a student from a Muslim family. This student has begun questioning their faith and has started to find solace in Christ. They've shared this with their peers and a few trusted teachers to find support and comfort since their family would not accept them for being a Christian. In fact, if their family ever found out, it is very likely they will suffer some form of violence. Unfortunately for this student, the school district has mandated that all teachers who notice a student's change in religious identity are compelled to share this information with the parents. Now these trusted teachers will be compelled to disclose the student's new religious identity, even though they know it will cause harm to the student. If you find the situation I just described wrong, but are against this new California law, then im afraid you're a hypocrite and a bad person who just hates trans people.

The California law recognizes that Students are diverse and have diverse orientations. No school is telling a child anything about their gender. They are simply providing the support that these kids need in figuring out how to come out to family. It also protects these kids from potentially abusive parents.
