Jizya's intention was not to pay for infrastructure or anything. According to the qur'an it was paid to belittle non-Muslims. "Fight the ones who do not believe in Allah nor in the Last Day, and do not prohibit whatever Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, and do not practice (Literally: to have as a religion) the religion of Truth-from among the ones to whom the Book was brought-until they give the tax out of hand (i.e., by a ready money payment, or in token of submission) and have been belittled" And Jizya was not the only things non-Muslims had to pay. According to the hadith, Muslims also practiced share cropping, where a Jew for instance had to pay HALF of their yeild of their crops. "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) gave the land of Khaibar to the Jew's on the condition that they work on it and cultivate it, and be given half of its yield." suhih al-bukari 2331 book 41, hadith 12 And is supported by a SECOND hadith as well: "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) rented the land of Khaibar to the Jews on the condition that they would work on it and cultivate it and take half of its yield." sahih al-bukhari 2499 book 47, hadith 16 So you have to pay 50% of what you make on your land PLUS jizya.

Therefore, Muslims are not allowed to honor the people of Dhimmah or elevate them above Muslims, for they are miserable, disgraced and humiliated. Muslim recorded from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet said, (Do not initiate the Salam to the Jews and Christians, and if you meet any of them in a road, force them to its narrowest alley.) This is why the Leader of the faithful `Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, demanded his well-known conditions be met by the Christians, these conditions that ensured their continued humiliation, degradation and disgrace." And lets not forget jizya is not the only fee Jews had to pay. Muhammad practiced share cropping as well. Jews had to pay 50% of their crop yeild as rent for the land. It clarified that it’s still a tax which targets non-Muslims (specifically Jews/Christians). If it “being low” makes this ok, would you like if the US and UK made a law taxing Muslims for being Muslim & nothing else? Notice how instead of addressing how it’s for Jews etc he focused on how “little” the tax is.

When you avoid the Qur'an to try to make sense of something. The Qur'an is very clear Fight the 'disbelievers' until they pay Jizya and are humiliated.

you can’t quote a line from the qur’an without understanding its context the “disbelievers” that was meant from the quran were the idol worshippers who were raiding muslim caravans at the time, and since at that time muslims were not permitted to retaliate until that verse came out. hope it clears some confusion,

Qur'an 9 : 29 The verse goes into great length into describing whom to fight. Those who do not believe in 1)Allah, 2)in the last day, 3)who do not consider unlawful what Allah and Mohammad has made unlawful, 4)who do not adopt Islam, 5)the Jews and Christians, 6) until they pay the Jizya, and 7) until they are humbled. Are you saying that what it was actually trying to say was 'defend yourself from the attackers '?

Which is lower than what the muslim had to pay. So to answer your question, if i live in western country, and they tax me lower than their own citizen because I'm muslim, then yes I'll accept it. Da qualunque punto di vista la si consideri la jizyah è una tassa basata su una concezione discriminatoria in base alla appartenenza religiosa e come tale totalmente inaccettabile. Lo stato garantisce, si fa per dire, nello stesso modo la sicurezza e la vita di tutti i suoi cittadini. Tutti i cittadini sono chiamati a contribuire in modo proporzionato ai loro introiti al bene comune tramite le tasse. Almeno in un mondo ideale. Richiamo l'attenzione sul fatto che il 2,5 percento obbligatorio alla entità religiosa non è poca cosa, in Italia è lo 0,8 percento su base volontaria.

@@adawah-jb4uy - if you read the actual sources you will find this was a tax introduced only for non Muslims, in lands conquered by Islamic conquests. This tax went as high as 50%. Would you like it if governments introduced a high tax just for Muslims to completely discriminate against them?

This guy is lieing. Read the Quran aya on Jijiya. It is ransom. Quran says " either you accept religion of Allah or pay Jijiya with submission. It is an insult to non muslims.
