Understanding the story of the Widow's Mite

The story of the widow's mite is a powerful reminder that God is more interested in our heart than the amount of our gift. The widow gave all she had, even though it was very little, and Jesus commended her for her sacrifice. We can learn from her example to give generously even when it is difficult. The story also teaches us that God sees and remembers our good deeds, no matter how small they may seem. He is always with us and He will reward us for our faithfulness.

Another way to look at the money changers being cast out: "Make not my Father's house an house of merchandise." Holy sacrifices were supposed to be offered to God in His House. Yet, with the corruption of the Leaders of the Jews, they basically had Money Changers, not outside, but INSIDE the temple, exchanging money for animals for sacrifice. Now, I understand that there are many people who had very little and could not bring a sacrifice. Trying to circumvent that, the Jewish Authorities would basically say, "Hey, need a sacrifice to offer? Give a donation and we'll give you an animal to give to God." Imagine, if that was first implimented for the poor many years prior, and over the years, pilgrims who would travel for many days to the holy land "Forgot" to bring an animal to sacrifice of their own herd. So they would sacrifice their money, not for God's ordinances, but for their own convenience. "Make not my Father's house an house of [Convenient Sacrifice]." Then we go to the money that is donated for exchange of a sacrifice to offer. Money isn't the root of all evil, but the love for it is. Riches of this world have been created by God for our benefit in this life, but many people take it too far. Just as the corrupted Leaders of the Jews and the Temple. In the Grand Plan of our God for us, tthe riches (Mammon) are worthless compared to the welfare of our Souls, and our own Personal Sacrifices to Him. "Make not my Father's house an house of [Worthless/Heartless Sacrifice]."

This is true. But there are many variants as we live in a fallen world. The widow gave very little with her heart in the right place. She gave all she had demonstrating *true* sacrifice. But would it not still be *better* for those who give out of their abundance with their hearts not in the right place rather than giving nothing at all? Aren't there many places where God says He will have obedience and not sacrifice? Would not my question bring up perhaps layered "tiers" for preferable behavioral patterns of those in the House of God? 1) It is better to be all in...giving one's all to God. 2) Better to be obedient and giving out of rote and habit than giving nothing at all. 3) knowing there is a God...but giving NADA/NOTHING at all.

It's important to remember that Jesus was the High Priest of the Temple and had the authority and responsibility to preserve the sanctity of the Holy Temple; i.e. not only turn over tables and drive out the money changers, but also calling into account the corrupt priests who were receiving the benefit from their graft. It's well documented that under Christ's jurisdiction, he aggressively expanded the size of the Temple, too, without unduly taxing to people, as did Herod.

Jesus didn’t randomly cleans the temple. Cleaning house is part of the Passover ritual. Jesus was cleaning the house of God, or the temple before he, the Lamb of God was sacrificed during Passover.

The true faith of a man shows when he or she is poor or is on a fixed income. I really wonder how many of those rich men would have given if they were poor. The Bible clearly says ten percent of your income. So, if you have or found a dime, you give ten percent of that, which would be one penny. AMEN.

I have watched your video about Many mother of Jesus while you confirmed that she gave birth to Jesus as a virgin yet she had more children after the word incarceration. This is theologically historically and biblically incorrect as she lived and died as a virgin. Humanly do you think a woman had the extreme blessings to be the mother of God would look down on earth’s life

The issue is Matthew 1:25 which says that after Jesus was born Joseph had sexual relations with Mary. I don’t know of any verse in the Bible that says she was always a virgin. Because of this verse in Matthew, which is very clear, and no other Bible verse contradicting this, I go with what the Bible teaches. The teaching that Mary always was a virgin only shows up in teachings of the early fathers a few hundred years later. We have no records of any early church fathers talking about it till the late second century.

If our lord Jesus had brothers and sisters then why the master would give his mother to St. John while on the cross to look after. That would be unlogic and against the law.

Just take a look at a few of the Bible translations: "But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus." (NIV). "But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus." (NLT). "but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he named Him Jesus." (NASB). And why would Mary be given to John to care for after the crucifixion? John himself gives the answer in John 7:5 when John states that the brothers of Jesus did not believe in him. It would make perfect sense for Jesus to give care of Mary to John who is a disciple, and not his brothers who don't believe in him (at least not yet). The simple fact is, the gospels mention brothers of Jesus, and yes I am aware of the Catholic thought that these are cousins or step-brothers, but the simple fact is they are called brothers, not cousins or step brothers in any translation. None. This teaching that they were some other kind of "brothers" does not show up for several hundred years by the church fathers. So it is a later tradition, based on later writings, not what the Bible actually says. That said, I very much respect the belief of Catholics and Orthodox on the continual virginity of Mary. I don't have an issue with it, but I don't believe it has Biblical merit. If someone can show me where in the Bible it teaches that Mary was always a virgin, then I will believe the doctrine. But as of right now, no one has shown me any evidence in the Bible to show this. The only evidence is several hundred years later by church fathers arguing about the issue (there was debate on the issue in the early church, so even the early fathers had problems with this teaching). Again, I respect your beliefs. I don't want to force my reading of the Bible on you. But I would hope you can do the same. I very much respect Mary, and think she is the most holy and important woman to live on the earth. No other woman even compares.
