Hi! My book, Fast Like A Girl, has a good bit of information on the thyroid, but the generalized advice is no, longer fasts are not recommended. Fast less frequently and for shorter lengths. Eat nutrient dense food when you eat. I would make your choice on how you are feeling. You may also want to consider taking a DUTCH test to see what the best plan may be for you individually, I'll leave a link here for you: bit.ly/3LkFmZQ

I also had follicular variant of papillary thyroid cancer. You are right about "normal for me". I fortunately had bloodwork done when i felt good, so my endocrinologist could medicate me back to my personal levels. You are ao right about the gyne vs endo doctors. It is frustrating, these medical silos. They treat u as if your parts are separate.

Thank you so much for this incredible interview!!! I sharing with all my family and friends. Every single woman should hear it. The biggest question/follow up i would beg - its over active thyroid problem.. Because overall I felt great, active, energetic, slim/fit, with high metabolism, but at the end of my 40s, I find out its a problem... i feel high pulse, high sugar, hot flashes (no menopause at all), I find out my immune system destroying my own body... And hyperthyroidism is not discussed so much... and I was scary to start fasting... Any discussions about it, please, beautiful ladies?

Hi Mindy! New to your channel and absolutely loving the content - and have been sharing it with my friends! I want to adopt the ‘fast like a girl’ lifestyle so I’ve been catching up on many of your earlier videos which are helping me to understand different fasting styles but as a 49 year old perimenopausal woman with hypothyroidism (which I have had since my early 30s and I take Levothyroxine) I don’t know which fasting protocol to focus on? Do I follow your fasting guidelines for perimenopause or for thyroid? Which of your books would be best for me to read? Thanks for all you are doing to help woman to really understand their bodies - I’m so grateful to have found your channel!! ❤

Such a great interview wow I wish more doctors would treat the patient and not labs. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was told to it needed to come out after being on tapazole and it being unsuccessful for me. My labs were regulated with synthroid but my hair continues to fall out in set amounts but my doctor says that is normal I disagree my hair shouldn’t be falling out. And hair loss can really be hard on women I just want it to stop falling out it’s so thin and brittle. Dr. Warren mentioned hairdos will not stop if you have positive antibodies. I have started fasting and changing my nutrition completely and I will see if over time this helps, is there anything else I can do or that you suggest? Thank you so much for this amazing talk Dr. Pelz and Dr. Warren

Wow this was so interesting! Please help.. I’m getting a bit desperate over here in a fast becoming third world NZ. I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, treated it for one year with hormone therapy, now my TSH is ‘normal’ but I still feel like crap, in fact I feel worse than when I was on carbimazole. My dr won’t request any bloods further than TSH. I have found a lab that will do private tests but they only offer TSH, freeT3 and free T4, is this enough to start with ? Also I have RLS which I treat with pregabalin and tramadol, I’m wondering if there is a connection between the two? As in is it possible that these medications could be disrupting my system / hormones etc ?

PLEASE HELP. I’ve tried to get help with my thyroid for the last year and even worked with a reproductive endocrinologist and we can’t seem to figure out why I am unable to conceive after my partial thyroidectomy. I still have half a thyroid. Slightly elevated TSH but other than that labs look normal.. is it possible to have the thyroid function optimally with just half of a thyroid and no meds? Any insight is much appreciated. Haven’t had reverse T3 tested so looking forward to asking for that test today from my dr. But feeling so lost as my husband and I are trying to conceive a 3rd child..!my first two were so easy before I knew I had a thyroid tumor and ever since removal we have been trying for over a year and no luck.. starting to lose hope

Age has something to do with it too. After 33 it gets harder sometimes almost impossible to conceive. Men and women’s fertility declines with age. Ovulating a healthy eggs is less common after 33. Also when trying to conceive after awhile it ruins the mood and a man’s sperm count decreases from the stress of trying.
