This is a condensed video of every major (and a few minor) differences I could find between a normal/pacifist run and a Genocide run. Genocide run consists of killing every boss, event, and random enemy until there are no more enemies left in an area. Doing this makes most of the bosses die in one hit. However, 2 of the bosses (sans and Undyne) become MUCH more powerful and are the hardest bosses in the game. This run is also occasionally referred to as a No Mercy or Merciless run.
Undertale, a game by Toby Fox, is an RPG with bullet hell elements. It is a unique game in that you can play the game from beginning to end without killing a single enemy and characters inside the game remember what you did if you choose to reload a save and will call you out for it.

+mmm bop This man speaks the truth, Mettaton (before the ratings fight) reveals that Aphys set up all the traps and even Mettaton to create a struggle for Frisk, where she could then barge in and help Frisk out to seem like a good person, knowing this, there are quite a few dialogue options with her that also hints strongly that Mettaton wasn't lying, lastly, Aphys says that she's been following Frisk's heroic deeds (on camera) before she even met him, so the reason why the puzzles are solved already in the genocide run? Because Aphys never began admiring you to begin with and therefore never did the set-up.

+AchelonX That only accounts for those in hotland, though. The other puzzles, the ones in the other areas, are completed for you either by being...well, creepy, or by flowey helping you out. As an example, in the first area, where you find the switch between the three trees hidden, if you examine it on a genocide run, it'll say that "A number of vines have pressed down the switch hidden here".

Even more creepy than the lack of music is that sound that plays when Flowey realizes you're coming to kill it too and gets scared (same one that plays when you're in battle with the monster kid who befriended you and the last scene in a Soulless Pacific run)

I really... here's the thing. I don't have the goddamn heart to get this. I love the characters, I love the setting, even as childish and 4th-wall breaking as it is at times- particularly the endings. But goddammit, sometimes you don't realize just what the characters ARE until you've gone through the whole game and seen them at their best and their worst. And here, when confronted with the sort of cthulian evil you'd need a whole religion just to understand, you see ALL of it in just a few heartfelt seconds. Every last ounce of every character, in a single death scene. Every time. Fuck you, Undertale, for being so amazing.

Chara hesitates to kill flowey. He doesn't die right away if you press the button though he does. Basically that's your very very last chance to leave genocide. You can exit the game and reset instead of killing flowey. That's your mercy option you don't actually get a button you already did too much damage but with Chara hesitating you can reset instead of killing him. Wonder how flowey feels after you reset before killing him.

I believe the best explanation for why Undyne and Sans can be more/less difficult for different people is this. Undyne's attacks are all about action and reaction. There are patterns to her movements, but a lot of them are reliant on where exactly the player is. It's all about reading the next attack and trying to be too steps ahead at all times. Sans, however, is all about patterns and repetition. Where Undyne focused on out manoeuvring, the only way to read Sans' attacks is to know that he's making them. He attacks the same way every time, and it's on you to remember the exact move that will let you thread that narrow needle. The only way to beat Sans is to know every move he's going to make before he makes it and outwit his trickery with precise rebuttal. These are very different styles of play and while it's possible to master both, it can be near impossible for some people (in my case, I have learning disabilities and I was hitting them hard in both fights. My brain and my fingers don't work well together, and the momentary delay that causes makes my reaction times significantly slower. On top of that, I suffer from brainfog, slowing my thoughts to a crawl. I barely beat Undyne after many, many attempts, only to meet a boss that not only required precision, but fast memory recall too? At the pinnacle of my skill, days upon days of constant work, I could barely make it to the halfway point with no health and no items. I took the dunk and shelved the game. Sans broke me.)

+Barry Scott If you are asking why are people getting emotional because of that line, it's simply because they were the duo you loved most in the game, in the happy ending, they are the comic relief, the ones that always cheered the place, Sans with his jokes and Papyrus with his innocence and pride, they were the perfect pair and they always went to Grillby's to eat, so when you finally do this run, killing both brothers, killing those who believed in you the most, and Sans, just about to fade away, talks to his brother one last time, knowing that he is dead.... Man, just think about it, it will come to you, the game is just that amazing.

I was writing a long post to explain my thought process but it was way too convoluted, so TL;DR : I _could_ do it with enough curiosity, but by this game's standards (where characters are stated to be sentient, unlike in most other settings) it's highly unethical to get this ending, so I don't do it out of respect towards the characters by treating them like living beings instead of easily-resettable pixel puppets. I like to try to do this in every game anyway beause I just plain like it, but it usually serves as more of a personal feel-good thing than something that the game will actually recognize. The main reason I wanted to see this was for the extra bits of lore because the other endings felt a bit plot hole-y (but I think I understand what happened now). I don't think anyone should take what Flowey says too seriously, in any case.

+Danmakuklopper-kun “Vanishing_Cloud” People seem to say a lot of the time that it's the true ending, and while it's obviously meant to be where you'd want things to end, but I feel like, the ACTUAL ending of the game is wherever you last stopped playing. Because if you reset after that ending, Flowey outright tells you you'll be tearing their happiness away, that they don't get to stay there while you romp around more. Your universe ends wherever you decided to let it end, which could absolutely be in stasis after you made them finally happy, reset everything, and then stopped playing once you got to Snowdin for some reason or another. sans outright tells you that he's so apathetic because he got to be happy so many times but it ever lasted. To hand-wave that away and say they got the happiest ending forever no matter what you did would be so contrary to the game and its lore, as well as all of the best parts and themes of it. It's entirely possible that's how it goes anyway, but if that's true it would be a huge blow to the depth of the game.

Which reminds me: in one dialogue Papyrus makes it clear that skeletons don't need to sleep. Prior to your final battle with Sans, he ate all the Spaggeti that Papyrus left behind, as to have part of his brother with him when he takes you down. So when he gets cut, all the sauce spills out. It's not enough to just kill every monster you encounter while walking through, you have to go out of your way to keep getting encounters to kill more monsters. Since there's only a limited amount of monsters in an area, you will eventually kill them all.

My personal take on Undertale is that the "true" pacifist path exists primarily to drive home the message of the genocide path that much harder. That the feeling of being content with such a happy, positive, heartfelt ending is a temporary one, and sooner or later, you will want more out of Undertale. And you may be willing to do anything to get more out of it. Anything. Whatever it takes to drain the game of all experiential value. I don't think I've never felt so ambivalently toward any work of fiction in my life.

The only reason I'm here is because after someone streaming took six hours to beat Sans (which I missed) I had to see just how bad of a time he was. Been humming "Hopes and dreams" for weeks.

it is creepy, I really wanted to see the difference and it messed me up, the heart break of toriel's last words, how sans and the others say you aren't even human because of your actions, the music, it made it worse that there were no audio reactions to this >^< I felt completely lost, alone in hell.. sans last words and flowey's... it hurt so bad, and how sans kills you in the sparing scene QnQ honestly this was a nightmare

It's kinda funny, in a sick sense. Maybe it's just me but when you go around and it's all empty I just think "Huh, so they do have some common sense." And when the little monster kid tried to stop you, I found that funny because the kid couldn't win. Ever. And Sans lines killed me. "He would love to see a human, so would you keep pretending to be one?" That line in particular... I love it. I think the Genocide has some of the best lines in the entire game, and Sans is badass, so that's a plus. I don't mind this ending as much as I thought I would, but the "Papyrus, would you like something? *thump*" had me in tears.

30:30 Another thing this could mean is someone didn't want to do it because they literally couldn't do it, or buy the game. I see 4 things coming out of this for the people who play the game. 1. People doing genocide to challenge the Toby Fox's words, or do it because they actually want to, this is horrible. 2. People who do genocide because they don't want the guilt of being called out for it, this is also bad, but also sad. 3. People who don't do genocide because they really don't want to do it anymore, being willing to do it without knowing the outcome, being extremely bad. 4. People who don't do genocide because their soul is too pure, they literally will not justify murder, even if they get called out for watching it. I don't know about you, but I feel better about myself being taunted not wanting to do it, even after being called out, I applaud Toby Fox's attempt of a guilt trip, but the way I see it is that the people who watched this, never wanting to do genocide because they literally have the power not to, are probably on par with a true pacifist, as they brave the absolutely horrid things to come, and if they actually feel the pain while watching this, then again, they're as good as a true pacifist. This ALSO applies to someone who has the guts to tough on through everything in sheer curiosity, knowing they shouldn't do that in reality, and possibly feeling bad about what they do, or indifferent if mentally conditioned. That's how I see it anyways.

I really don't think it's the same as watching the entire genocide run in one full sitting as people are curious to what's really happening. In fact the only reason I watch those battles and the bad endings: Was because I was spoiled of it already. I wonder that by doing this will still make me a good person, I mean I don't have the heart to watch ANY EVIL PATH on a video game. Only to see or watch the endings after I read about it on TV Tropes but I think Undertale is probably the third or fourth game where I took a look at the evil ending of the game which is Bioshock and Infamous.
