I tried speedrunning Undertale Genocide and it was incredibly dark

Yeah, sans figure out that you are possessing frisk really quickly, I think he can also tell in the pacifist ending, because he winks when he says "you haven't died a single time, have you?", implying that he knows you have a save/load mechanic. It feels like that on the genocide run, sans knows you are some kind of supernatural entity manipulating the world, but tries to use empathy and later fear to coerce you into becoming good, knowing that there isn't any other way. He looks fierce but is probably panicking on the inside.

Almost all of Sans' attacks are set, except for the "random" attacks (eg. Random Bone Platforms, Random Gaster Blasters)

Fun Fact: If you don't kill any Moldsmals in Waterfall (since they only drop 3 EXP), you can get to the Undyne the Undying fight at LV 11 instead of at LV 10.

LV 12 is also possible, but way harder. You need to get out of Ruins at level 6 (You need to kill Toriel at LV 5), then kill Glyde in Snowdin, and then avoid all Moldsmals. It's one hell of a grind, but makes the fight WAY easier since your Defense, Attack and HP are all considerably higher

Playing Undertale then graduating to deltarune. The stories get more complex and a lot more sad.. I get it’s just ‘pixels’ on a screen. But the characters having their own lives and stories- it makes killing them so much more difficult. I get why a lot of people can’t do genocide runs because of this. Some of them plead, smile despite your actions or cry. It’s not showing ‘weakness’ for empathy. Even if they’re not truly real. It’s still sad to the majority. I remember my first neural run as a kid. I killed shyren on accident and Undyne made me feel so bad for it. “She was getting better with her singing”- and went on to demean me for my one action. honestly gave me chills at a young age. Especially since killing her was so easy

I love this game. It's really crazy just how much this game changed things in the indie gaming world and in the long run in the AAA one considering things related to it made it into Smash Bros and Toby is doing music for Nintendo now. Imagine if Pacifist Runs tainted Genocide runs. Like for one example the characters would be nonchalant about it, Sans would point out how boring it is, Papyrus asking Frisk if they want to hangout after they reset, Flowey being taken aback by how everyone’s acting, etc. Another example being that it’s literally impossible to kill a monster which the underground takes notice of, like Undyne only takes 0.1 damage.

One thing about the undyne fight is that the game actually tells you what’s gonna hit by showing the current arrow as red. It’s doesn’t really help in speed runs but it helped me in my current genocide save when the slow attacks came.

I may be misremembering, but I think at the start with Flowey, going directly into the left corner is actually marginally slower than waiting just a split second because of the speed difference of the bullets when you start around the edge. That might not be real, but I do think I remember that being fastest for me.

Theres a very intricate spot that you can use to dodge the spear attack in the small box in the Undyne fight. If you get there it’s 100% impossible to be damaged. Little cool fact that I used to beat the fight.

It took me a solid 2 hours of attempts. To my mind it's the best fight in the game, thematically, because it's actually a reasonable fight. If you're just good at the game, you can win on your first try. 100% skill, it's just hard. Sans isn't hard, it's just a matter of repetition. He cheats. No matter how good you are, you will not win the first time, because he cheats. But once you know the pattern, he's no big deal. And that fits the narrative so well... this is Undyne's dream, to be the anime hero that saves the world from the ultimate evil. She wants to win a fair fight, and she's the best chance the monsters have at doing that. Sans isn't like that. He's a bitter revenant whose only goal is revenge. By all means necessary.

One thing that I should mention: I was wondering why he switched from the burnt pan to not get more healing, but given his route, he only would have gotten 1 extra HP from it. Another thing is that I believe this is the first version of undertale, the exploit he does in the sans fight is (last I checked) patched out

So, I'm no speedrunner by any means, but I do have to ask: For the fights with the Dog minibosses, wouldn't it be faster to use the Stick which automatically puts the dogs into a spare state, and then hitting them? Cause if I remember, enemies get OHKO'd if you attack them when they're ready to be spared

late, but some advice on that one undyne attack you showed as being difficult with the homing spear spamming (the one where you got hit three times, second to last turn) they always spawn on you so a wide oval around the box will usually go without being hit, it takes a minute to get it but once you do you’ll be doing it no problem.

You still could but you are farther in the game so why not finish it? You have to finish neutral to do true pacifist anyways, tho it would be faster to not kill anyone because you wouldnt have to replay the entire game, i recommend you just finish your ending tho, neutral routes have A LOT of different endings
