* Don't worry, you needn't respond to that question. * After all, I already know the answer. * You see, up until then, I was very confused with your actions. * You going through all of this trouble for seemingly no reason, to no benefit of yourself. * It looked as though you were FIGHTing simply for the sake of it. * And then SHE showed up. * She was the first real bump in the road in your journey. * She took you out at every opportunity she had. * Always waiting for you to slip up, so she could take advantage of you. * It looked as though you were completely outmatched. * But then, despite everything... * You were still able to hold onto your DETERMINATION... * And you were able to kill her just by the skin of your teeth. * Also, be sure to remember that word: DETERMINATION. * It will be a very key part of the story. * Now, when you were finally able to finish the job... * after having to witness all of those previous attempts along with your last attempt, I was filled with... * Well, I'm not sure if I can describe them as emotions. * Being soulless at the time, I'm not too sure that I could really feel those yet. * Oh well, who really cares about the technicalities? * Anyways, I was filled with "emotions" such as astonishment, fear, hopelessness... * And yet, at the same time, in that slightly sick part in the back of my head, I was almost impressed. * It was at this point that I had a sudden realization: * If somebody, anybody, was ready and willing to go through all of this trouble just to kill ONE person... * I figured that there had to be some other reason for all of it, a greater purpose. * I was wrong, of course, but I'm getting ahead of myself. * So, from that point on, I worked with you as much as I could, * under the pretext of all of this being for the greater good. * I almost never lost hope for you. * I gave you all of the information I could recall. * I cheered you on like some kind of genocidal pep rally. * And then, in the final chapters of your species-wide murder spree... * we dug through the remains of my old home, * entered the Final Hallway, * and found him. * The comedian. * Standing there with slap-happy smile on his face. * Now, I needn't spare you the details of THAT encounter. * I'm sure that you've been through it enough times that you could write a novel about it. * So, I'll just skip right to the end. * And don't worry... * THIS is when it starts to get interesting. * The intensity of the moment was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. * But, after your many, many attempts, you survived his onslaught. * And then, in one last back-handed attempt to get you to give up... * He pulled out his "special attack". * And he planned to keep us there forever. * ... * But we couldn't allow that. * So I did the one thing I could: * I was able to somehow channel your SOUL... * I was able to break the rules... * and allow you to FIGHT one last time. * And frankly, I'm still not 100% sure how I was able to manage that, let alone figure out that that was what I needed to do. * I just somehow knew that it was the only way for us to continue. * I suppose you could call it "fate", or "instinct". * Then again, I suppose it doesn't really matter what you call it, now does it? * So, I enabled you to FIGHT, and you jumped at the chance to add another tally to your kill total. * So, you swung. * And then, he faked us out. * And he just stood there with that smug grin on his face. * Taunting you. * Taunting me. * Taunting US. * Now, despite our differences, if we were to have one thing in common... * It would be that, by the end of that fight, we were BOTH on the brink of losing our patience. * And the sight of that skeleton laughing at us with that aforementioned smug grin? * That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. * It was then that my "emotions" rose to a feverish pitch. * To which, I did something that I never would have even thought to be possible. * In my blind rage, without even thinking... * I attacked him. * I slashed at him, and drove the knife deep into his bony rib cage. * And then, it struck me what I had just done. * As he slowly stumbled away, clutching his chest, I was able to feel a wide assortment of conflicting emotions. * And not just theoretical emotions. * REAL, genuine emotions. * Including, but not limited to, instant regret towards my actions. * Confusion as to how all of this was even possible. * And, most of all, incredible self-loathing for having egged you on this entire time. * Whether or not it could be deemed as fortunate or unfortunate, * this flooded cesspool of sentiments all in my head only lasted a few seconds. * By then, I was turned back into my apathetic, incorporeal self, * and you went on, strolling along your little way. * As if none of it ever happened. * ... * Now, normally, that would have been the end of it. * I know your methods. * You likely would have killed my father and then turned back around to clean up the scraps that you left behind. * But I wasn't going to let that happen. * I refused to. * So, taking that series of events and my brief encounter with sensibility into account, I conducted a plan. * A plan to take away your control of this world. * A plan to stop your plans in it's tracks. * A plan to take your SOUL. * Now, I've seen you figure out bigger puzzles before, so I'm sure you can fill in the blanks to what I had come up with here. * So, at the end of it all, I took away your control and I had your SOUL in my possession. * And, in exchange, I allowed you to RESET one more time. * I figured you'd eventually get bored with this world and finally give up. * But you didn't. * Instead, you kept on going. * And then, you did the unthinkable. * You did it all again. * You killed them all again. * And, once again, I had no idea what you were trying to prove, what you were trying to accomplish. * But, I suppose that the comedian said it best: * "No matter what, you'll just keep going. Not out of any desire for good or evil. But just because you think you can. And because you think you "can", you "have to". * So, coming to that conclusion, I decided to wait you out. * And fortunately for me, I had something that that bag of bones could never have. * YOUR DETERMINATION. * I used your own DETERMINATION against you. * To let you do the the same actions over and over again. * To repeat the same timeline over and over again. * Until you finally have your fix and give up. * It doesn't matter how long it takes. * I've got all the time in the world. * And with that, we have finally gone full circle, leading up to this very moment. * Now, are there any more questions?

Technically it is a soulless run. The concept behind this is Chara is the hard mode final boss that's only accessible after you've completed both a pacifist and genocide route, then redoing a pacifist in order for Chara to manifest towards the end where you talk to Az one last time.

Okay, so I get Dakota already told me how this fight goes down, but I'd kinda like to interpret it myself. Here's how I'd imagine it would go down: You keep talking to Asriel until he says "Chara wasn't really a great person." Then the dialogue would change. With a lack of a face sprite, the text would say "*... *Do you really think they are better than me?" Now with Asriel's face, it would say "...Chara!?" The expression would be shocked. A phantom-like figure approaches you. It's Chara. "Chara, How did you--" "*Shut up, Asriel." "Wha--" "*Do you really remember nothing? How Frisk murdered everyone, including you?" "I don't know what you're talking about, Frisk saved every--" "*No, no, I get it... You're waiting to turn back into Flowey for an excuse to kill all humans AND monsters." "What? No, I woul--" "*LIES! I bet you two were just talking about your plans of regicide." "Chara, will you PLEASE--" "*I S A I D S H U T U P !" *Their sprite's eyes become bigger. They hold a knife in front of themself.* "...!" *Once again, shocked expression.* "*I will not allow you to toy with them ANY LONGER." *Their eyes become normal.* "*..." "*I will put both of you in your places." *And then their eyes get big again.* "*WHERE YOU BELONG." BEGIN BATTLE! You use WASD to move Asriel's Soul, and The Arrow Keys for Frisk's. And Frisk's Soul is empty and has no trait. It's a red outline of a Heart, 'cause Chara stole yours. The three sounds of the Souls moving to their place happen. The Souls would immediately get attacked by Chara. They'd start by throwing knives at you as seen in the picture above. If you got the souls together and made them start circling, you'd make a small barrier around yourself. This could only block the knives for so long, though. Then, after the knives being thrown around, they'd surround you with knives. They'd then stab at you, one at a time. Then they come back around like boomerangs. While I could go on listing attacks, I'd also like to see what you guys come up with. Now this is when it gets to the point where Asriel starts talking. The attacks stop, and the souls are now in the dialogue box while Asriel is talking. "Chara, please, I'm sure we can work things out... I don't understand what's wrong, but if you'd just tell me, I'd be glad to help you! After all, it's me, your best... friend..." The Fallen Child plays. "C-Chara? Chara, please... I only want to help... ....P-please don't h-h-hurt us..." "*...St-stay away from *me...!*" *And their face starts bleeding. Not only that, but blood is spewing out of it, covering their face and staining their clothes, and the blood splurts from the eyes and mouth at you and Asriel. You're brought into the overworld, and you two have to run while blood flies at you, and they also keep slashing at you with their knives. They chase you through the entire underground, until you reach the door to the surface. You two stop, turn around, and are hit by Chara. You two are knocked to the surface, where everyone can now see the horror, as you two are about to be killed by the ex-hope of the world.*

Since it's safe to say this video is pretty established now, I'm gonna go ahead and edit the title soon so that it now just says "Erasure" instead of "Erasure and Salvation". With "Salvation" technically being it's own track already, it's just kind of a no-brainer to separate the titles.

Dakota Jones I just read your story description of this battle on "deviantart", and just to let you know, you CAN TRULY SAVE Asriel, FIRST, TAKE CARE OF EVERY SINGLE THING THAT YOU HAVE YET TO DO BEFORE YOU DO THIS NEXT STEP, AS THERE MAY BE NO CHANCE OF GOING BACK ONCE YOU HAVE, AND EVEN IF THERE IS, YOU MAY FEEL EXTREMELY GUILTY AND ASHAMED OF YOURSELF IF YOU RESET AFTER TRUELY SAVING HIM, then, simply keep talking to him after winning the battle against him (he's at the patch if flowers that Frisk lands on in their first ever run, and start at every time they perform a Reset or True Reset.), and talk to him repeatedly, even after he explains what happened to Chara and himself, BUT BE WARNED, FRISK WILL MAKE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE if you choose to have them do so, in exchange for Asriel to have another chance at life. This is how and when the "Dreemurr Reborn" AU takes place. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no way to bring Chara into your happy ending… Hopefully, one day, it'll be possible to SAVE them, along with W.D. Gaster, along with his followers…

He has unitale and i dont but im sure he can whip up a bossfight like this It is like Asriel's soul in conrolled by the W,A,S and D keys and Frisk's soul is controlled by the up, down, right and left keys... I have an idea for a act choice though... I think you can Pray to gain 12 HP or 6 DEF... Sorta like a routlulette.

What I think really makes Chara an intimidating character is how simplistic they are. They arent over the top and trying to be as scary as possible. Its just the humble knife and that simplistic grin like the ones in the background that is used so often for them. I dont know why but the simplicity is what makes them so memorable.

Ok I like the track, but why are all the fan made chara themes so terrifying? Chara is only evil in the genocide run so why is that the thing all theme are based on? Do people forget chara out right tells the player that they are evil and sadistic for killing every one?

James Sauve You seem to forget that Asriel mentioned to Frisk that Chara "Hated Humanity" and wanted to use their soul combined with Asriel's against the humans. Now I wouldn't full-on accuse them of being "Evil", but they do seem to have some sort of Vengeful nature to them. Thus is what this song and concept is based off of more-or-less. Deep down though I do think they're just a scared, abused and confused little kid.

Alright this is one of my least favorite comments I’ve made. But I now stand by a new point with chara, I don’t think they’re supposed to be a character like everyone else is, but more as a secondary sort of frisk stand in for the player, a ton of the dialog regarding chara even their own is contradictory, and honestly unless it’s intentional I think they may be the worst written character in the gamec literally going from saying “this was not my power but yours” and at first essentially stating that they are not an active figure in the story before taking a 180 if you refuse their offer and saying since when were you in control which is as far from that as possible. They tell/ask you in the weird void between the geno reset about if we feel consequences for our actions, with implication based on the genocide true pacifist kill everyone to prove this point but in the “pick yes” option they basically say the world is meaningless and that we’ll just erase it and move onto the next. And there’s a bit more but that’s the gist. I still don’t think themes like this match, because nothing matches this character well.

i imagine "erasure" as a battle theme that plays on a soulless pacifist route before the chara taking over scene. chara would try to take over frisk's body,but frisk calls out asriel's name,and then, somehow,asriel comes to help frisk.if you win,you move on to part two. if you lose, chara takes over frisk's body and you get the bad pacifist ending.
