My theory is that this is just a nightmare Frisk has while she's asleep after the Pacifist Run. The appearance of Gaster and Chara are a result of them trying to reach out to someone. Sans then uses his machine to find the two.

I have theory. What if sans's power is connected to the human's LV? I know some might say that he just wanted to keep a promise to Toriel, but what about if she dies? Not to mention sans seems like he seriously wants to kill you if you kill Papyrus. The only ending he's fine if either die is the true ending. So why doesn't he confront you? sans is the hardest boss, yet he only fights you in the Genocide Run. Why? Because he can't. At times, when he talks to you, his right eye is closed, left open. He's trying, but he can't. Somehow, his powers are tied to your determination. The more LOVE you gain, the more power he has to stop you. The Karmic Retribution can act as evidence, since we all know what Karma means. He needs that to give him an edge in battle as well, since he needs all he has to beat a human who could kill him in one hit. But hey, that's just a theory. A GAME THEORY.

So if you choose to kill anyone, he's kinda forced to just sit back and watch, hence why the human can get away with killing Papyrus. His KR, Karmetic Retribution, would actually be useless if he were to face the human on level 1 or something, because there's no karma, the human is innocent. I think that's something he has for being the judge, y'know? _Also, in one of the neutral endings when Papyrus dies, Sans mentions in his phone call that he lives with Toriel now, and he can't bear to tell her his brother is dead because of the promise she made him make. That's messed up_

Having it all together, Megalovania sounds like Sans has gone insane slowly as Frisk has progressed through the underground and the song works very well. Like he's snapped after seeing this again and again. Almost like this timeline, he's done with hearing the ballads of death and really wants to kill us. Its great.

Whenever I play Undertale with a friend over, they want a genocide run, for death. I don't think they know why I want it. I want it so I can see each characters pure potential and their real reason of being a character in this game. Toriel just want to stop you from being like the real world of bad. She cries through her song for you. She wants to keep you safe. Papyrus wants to keep you from hurting. He thinks you can change. He believes in you. He doesn't understand your power, your hate, but he knows you could change. Undyne wants to protect everyone, and prove monsters' strengths. She wants to kill the fallen human so the destruction can stop. She has much more determination than ever before. Alphys really wants to keep everyone from harm. She wants to prove to the king her potential. She's not just trying to get in the spotlight anymore, she's trying to protect every monster. Mettaton is like Alphys, and Undyne combined. He'll protect everyone, even if that means being a sacrifice. He wants the world to be safe, hoping he will be remembered by all the lives he hopes to save. Sans doesn't want to fight you. He fights you to stop you, not to get any revenge, whatsoever. He knows your killing for another ending, for he knows the humans saves and resets. He has pure determination, though. He won't give up, after watching you kill everyone he cares about. I get it, I'm a year or so late, but I come back every so often for a lesson. The Genocide Route is pure. Pure evil, and pure beauty. The beautiful part is how much more we see the characters and their full purpose. Many tears were shed, and blood was spilled. All the characters we got attached to... Died. Then you'll just reset once more. Get more of the same ending. "Your the one in control."

I think Steel was a perfect choice for Sans. I love how his voice can be so beautiful, tragic, unstable, strong, emotional, and death-like at the same time. I think his voice really embodies Sans' character. Also, he has a phenomenal range. He can go from super-low baritone to in between alto and soprano. It's very impressive! I can feel Sans' emotions: devastated, angry, heartbroken, betrayed, aloof. I can feel them in every single note. His portrayal of Sans is so devastatingly beautiful. It could make someone cry and smile at the same time.

I like the genocide route. Not because I enjoy killing everyone, but because it lets each character's true potential and/or personality shine. We finally get to see Undyne and Sans' true potential, Mettaton's true goal, the extent of Papyrus' kindness, Alphys' pulling through despite the hardships, etc. Like each of those characters is cool in their own way, but some (specifically Undyne, Mettaton, Alphys and Sans) get their change to finally shine. And I think that's well made.

A lot of people are saying that it's sick that this is what everyone wanted, that genocide is sick and twisted. Now, I was never one to force genocide on MOTI, but I feel it necessary to say that people wanted genocide not just for Megalovania or just to see everyone die. The Genocide Route Actually brings out the best in every single monster that we never see in any other route. Toriel sees a bit of logic to Claims of how human can be bad. Papyrus's Mercy is shown to its max, and how he's willing to still have faith when you just killed him. Undyne is willing to take the hit for a child that's just been in her way the entire time and even COMES BACK FROM DEATH to keep you down, showing how powerful she can be. Alphys stays out, as in a Pacifist Route she's using you to get into the spotlight but now is in the background protecting everyone. Mettaton Understands he's not perfect but wants to give it a last go. And Sans is put to the real test. Most say his power is his full potential, but his restraint is. His ability to stand back, to keep himself from killing you, to watch everyone he cared about die, and only when he knows 100% what you intend to do, he stands up to you. Genocide isn't about the mass killing of everyone in the underground, but the characters who defy The Human.

I got to say I loved (pun intended) Chara's parts, Star and the end both, Star really showed how we ruined Chara's humanity and personality turning them into the demon we meet at the end, and speaking of the end, I loved how Chara's voice was that of a demon's instead of their normal voice, and I loved how Chara's name was blurred out and the denlmonic voice said "the fallen" or "the fallen child", really adds to the demonic feel and shows that they aren't Chara anymore, they are the demon that comes when you call it's name

When you have the realization that it requires a monster and a human soul to escape the barrier, and when Flowey killed Asgore he made sure to destroy the soul as well, preventing Chara from getting it. Meaning Flowey basically sacrificed himself (when he could have just run away) so he could keep Chara trapped in the Underground. The bad news, tho, is that means Chara will have nothing better to do than hunt down the remaining monsters that had "evacuated" ._. Side note, do we know what happened to the other 6 souls in the geno route? Can a human escape using their own + 6 other souls without a monster soul as well? Interesting thing to speculate about.

Aaron Bryant I don’t think Sans did although we have few examples of when a “monster” absorbs a soul, but surely Sans’s design/form would’ve been altered, + he would have more than one defence and one attack stat, or would’ve been invincible unless the souls rebelled, even then. I think sans wouldn’t Steel (hehe) from the king, but we’ll never know unless Toby fox decides he wants to bombshell his fans with facts

Thank you Man on the Internet. You adapted the two routes in the game beautifully, showing how different they are. The pacifist route is cheerful, the perfect story for a musical. The genocide route, on the other hand, is dark and saddening, as the fallen child kills everyone and everything in its path. I’ve never seen an adaptation of a video game done as well as this. roamingrowan sorry for the late response, but that's basically the file that makes your Undertale copy remember you completed Genocide/sold your soul to Chara which causes your game to always give you the post-Genocide endings even after a True Reset unless you go through a really complicated process to delete those files.

You can see the darkness in Frisk's eyes as they try and succeed to commit full genocide of all monsters. Sans' line "you sold your SOUL and came from hell" really fits that theme, as all that's in the child's eyes is bloody murder. Long description short, I freaking love this song package!
