This is so heartwarming. If this scene comes after a genocide reset that changed to a pacifist route (which it technically is, but the second scenario I explain later would also be wonderful), it shows that Frisk seriously regrets their previous path, and seems to think they deserve to be judged for that route. If it's just a pacifist route, it shows that Frisk has finally given into the weight that their journey holds. Their just a kid, and they're making a choice that decides the fate of the entire world, surface and underground alike. And in both scenarios, Sans decides to comfort them, seeing their distress. Hard to believe this was just for practice. This was incredible.

Sans doesn't remember the genocide timeline. As Sans continues to talk, Frisk realised nothing changed. Sans had no idea. He had no memory of it. Sans talking about his facial expression was the final nail in the coffin. It was too much to take. Sans was concerned and confused for their friend. Then he started thinking. "Oh." Opening his eyes "THAT is what happened." And still, Sans knowing what the situation still decides to comfort them. It's amazing the information stored just in eyes and facial expressions. You can see the moment Sans realised and the pause of him processing it.

He's just a god at reading body language. And then he just simply puts two and two together. 2:29 Frisk falls down onto their knees I feel during those few moments on sans face, you can see a mix of confusion, revelation, and anger. As he hugs frisk his eyes are dark, which I think means he finally understood. The hug also seems to mirror the genocide hug sans offers before killing frisk, which is a very nice detail, The animation overall was lovely and the lighting atmosphere and tone was perfect. I’m glad that neither were actually talking like in the game, making this scene more powerful. The guilt shown on frisk’s face when sans was saying how they’d be judged for every action, so much so to the point of collapsing. It was made even more powerful with the sound as well and the music, as the thud on the ground just felt so earth shattering leaving a sudden chill and tension.

There’s always those times where in animations that it’s a really good animation and the stories interesting, but the personalities seem like something brand new and different from how it’s original creator made them to be. This is a really cool moment. I love that it's like you can see exactly when Sans realizes what Frisk must have done --- but still decides to comfort them anyway. IMO that fits with what Sans has always been about as a character though. He's not vengeful. Yeah, his fight is partly about punishing you for being terrible, but it's also about trying to stop you from making a horrible mistake that will have lasting consequences for you and everyone else. I've always thought that at his core, Sans believes in the value of kindness and mercy, which are themes at the heart of Undertale. Meaning that up to the point of no return, he does believe there's hope for you. After all --- if he truly didn't care, he wouldn't bother to judge you at all or challenge you to do better.

There are some amazing tiny bits of detail coordinated with timing. It’s pretty impressive. I watched the slight tremble of the kids legs before they collapsed on their knees, submitting and weighted by the weights of their crimes. And Sans reaction.... Reminds me that Frisk is indeed a child in all this. I can’t tell but it seems to me that Frisk wanted to be judged by him...be friends again even for a little while longer... possibly even seeing him for the last time after this. It’s really heavy and makes me cry. Didn’t know I needed something so much until now.

Personally, I never went balls deep into the fandom when the hype arrived. But I always loved this game, and I've been feeling super nostalgic for it lately. This is honestly the most beautiful, well animated Undertale animation I've seen. It's criminal how underrated this is! Also, never did do a genocide run. I couldn't bring myself to it.
