You may try to put some selicagel inside of the can with batteries to avoid moisture condensation. The best way is to close the can on the shore - otherwise you will get moisture inside of the can with sea air - and then it will condensate as batteries are heating while running.

I try to close it on land before i go out, but it have leaked anyway so i have to poor the water out and try again. I don't want to seal it by silicone or something, i wan't to be able to open it. I did have a bag of silica gel in it the first time, but it got soaked, so i just go without it now. It seams that a jar is harder to get waterproof when its been used underwater, i have to open and close it a couple of times now to get it waterproof. (even that i cleaned the lid, and screwed it on hard). In the future i think i will not use a jar, just make a waterproof battery pack.

@@petleh82 sounds like a good idea. Here is what i do to waterproof cavities like jar : ceresit C14 solicone (its flexible enough to remove it when needed to open a box and perfect for sealing); epoxy & hardner to cast battery alone (just keep leads out the rest is 5mm around outer dimentions by polistirol forms).
