One key thing it does show is how that trying to be really precise with feeding is sometimes not that relevant - look how far the maggots spread out before they reach bottom, than all it needs is a few good sweeps with a carp’s tail to spread them even further.

You need to try it again in the summer when the water is warmer to see if there is a difference. Cold water is more dense than warm water.

I’ve done the maggot timings in the past and always worked on around 8seconds per foot. What really blew my mind was how far downstream they go before getting near the riverbed when fishing on rivers (even when the flow is relatively slow).

It's got me thinking being a river angler. According to those results, they be hitting the bottom two pegs down from mine 😮

So you’d want to be on a peg 2 down from Andy Or ball your own feed in

It would be interesting to see the different fall rates for maggots that are 'degreased' and ones which are coated in flavourings.

Maggot fall rate is crazy! If it takes near enough a minute for them to get to 6-7ft. On a river like the Trent, that would equate to about 2 pegs away I’m guessing! Great video. Would love to see how quick your rigs hit the deck now! 🐳👍

Mind blowing but such an in depth video. Excellent

maybe thats why double feeding maggots works so well giving a longer drop of bait

These under water videos are very insightful but they also blow my mind as I may aswell forget everything I thought I knew and start again be interesting to have a few cameras at different depths to see the bait travel all the way down especially to see at what point the ball starts to break up

So if you want to pin the fish down pot in 4-8mm hard pellets first then feed micros (loose or in balls) over the top? The rate of fall is going to be determined by air and oil content and hydrodynamic profile of the bait. Maggots and worm should fall slowest due to air content. Pellets fall faster but some of larger ones may be slower to their oil content and large surface area. I remember watching another underwater video that looked at how balls of ground bait fell through the water and there accuracy for baiting up. The uneven surface of the ball of bait caused them to spin off right or left. Even the dimples caused by your finger tips are enough to induce spin. The conclusion was that 'cigar' shapes, elongated rugby ball shapes and 'teardrop' shaped bait balls worked better, falling virtually straight down. Try squeezing you balls of micros between two method molds. That would produce a nice shape for accurate baiting.

Very enlightening! It would be interesting to see how different shotting patterns might allow your hook bait to fall at the same rate and stay with the loose feed.

I can imagine how a 50g feeder falling into the water scares all the fish away))

Thanks for sharing, interesting. Would like to see caster falling rate, suspect similar to micros.

Great vid again. Is this why lift and drop after 30-40 seconds works so well??

A groundbait pellet mix squeezed using a pellet cone or meat punch with a plunger would be very interesting

What about caster? Do caster vs maggot in the summer, that's what we really want to know

Great video once again, changes my way how I fish with maggots forever 😊
@ExperimentalAngler23 сағат бұрын
Interestingly, and you never timed it (i did), the ball of pellets @8.52... went 3 second quicker to bottom, they did break up as shown, but the first 3-4 feet the ball must have went through the water a lot faster due to less drag (resistance) and higher weight. NOTE, ideal for getting fish on bottom and not top when you need to fish that way.

would be nice to see how fast casters drop too
@takleteck7008Күн бұрын
If you soak pellets to see if they sink quicker, you need to soak them for more than a few seconds!

What about how quick baits sink in high and low air pressure is there any difference

Surely the most interesting question should be: do we actually feed too much???

What about dead maggots surely they would be different as they have no air in them 🤔
