If you've been in the military, they ate canned spam, ham, etcetera and MRE's (meals ready to eat). They acquire a taste for them. Most of these canned meat contained a lot of SALT. Men/boys crave salt. My Dad (World War II) and my husband (Korean and Vietnam. Vet) still eat canned meat but mostly as a snack in between meals. Me, no. Not crazy about a lot of Salt). I remember these commercials, but still think Mason Reese looks like a weirdo. Sorry Mason.
