Yeah turns out this isn’t the first occurrence of the F-bomb in the franchise it was quite blatantly used in the first film, Not sure why I missed that, Although one of the reason might be that in the first film its with purpose and motivation here’s its just irrelevant and thus more noticeable, Thats my excuses anyway.

I’d rather not contemplate a world where this franchise is given another shambling cadaver film of badly written characters and flimsy plots that seems to be racing the resident evil franchise to the bottom of the barrel of crap.

It's kind of sad seeing Selene go from...a character, to an all-powerful plot-device, untouched by...well...anything. Bit like 'Alice' from the Resident Evil series, except Alice was never a character to begin with.

Would have been cool to see tactics by both sides that pertain to their unique abilities and those they are fighting. Marius attacks during the day, bombs the roofs with mortars, to punch holes to let light through. Then, while all the Vampires are weakened and out of position, they rush in. With the riot shield guys going in first to soak up the damage and laying down suppressive UV fire, before the transformed Lycans rush in to wreck them close quarters. Meanwhile the Vampires could have thought of using polarized armor or something, or made their mansion a tad sturdy, but have retreat anyway to stay out of the light and lure the Lycans in. Corridors are too narrow for transformed Lycans, so the un-transformed guys have to go in human form. And they could run into silver-based booby traps or be ambushed by the Vampires while they are stuck in their more vulnerable human forms. Which swings the battle back in favor of the Vampires. But that wold take thought and effort.

Can I say that, as an arc welder, I never thought about the fact that vampires cannot be welders, or at least wear very little protection while welding. Vampires would have to bundle from head to toe to even attempt it. I ended up telling my welder coworkers about this, it was pretty amusing. And anyone who think UV light won’t cause that bad of a burn, I have permanent scars just from the heat and UV light (it was hot and I left my coat open to cool off, but forgot to button it back up, so I admit it’s all my dumb fault, don’t lecture me because I already know I’m a dumbass). If a little bit of sunlight causes a vampire great pain and to start smoking, imagine THAT amount of light just inches from your face and in the palm of your hands.

To be fair, Selene's blood gives more than just immunity to sunlight. It makes vampires stronger than the previous Elders. And something that was off-screen but never really shown or made clear: Selene gives Wraith Lady some of her blood to thank her for helping her reach the sacred world. This is why Wraith Lady qualifies for the position of Elder. Thank you for the review! Been waiting for it like a kid in anticipation of Christmas :3

It makes me angry that lycans are still seen as the bad guys all they were doing was trying to survive & preserve their species while the vampires were living in luxury, looking down on the very species they despise. The lycans were tired of being treated like servants & like dogs, play things & the vampires get pissy at Selene for killing two of the elders one of which had lied to her the moment he turned her.

The one thing I liked about awakening was the idea that humanity finds out the vampires and lycans and goes on the rampage. It had the potential to ge a good story, imagine the vampires and lycans forced into hiding, hunted by humans, forced to make a truce. (Of course film makers would never go for that) That film was just badly done. I watched Blood Wars and realised I was forgetting the plot even as it happened.

When Marius says "That's enough!" to one of his soldiers he sounds like Lucian. I don't know if it was intentional, an accident or it seems like that only to me...but yes, Lucian is missed. I have nothing against the actor playing Marius, i really liked him in "Rome", but Lucian was so much fun to watch. He was this strange Spartacus-Romeo-Heathcliff character.

I really hate how it got all mystical and shit. Vampires are vampires due to the Corvenus strain virus that mutates their DNA. They are *NOT* supernatural. It's like the writers just thought "oh kewwwl vampires maaan, they can like turn into like bats and stuff bruh". Just a total disregard to the previously established lore. That isn't the only problem with this film, but it's the one that bugs me the most.

To be fair, the whole "virus" angle wasn't really executed well to begin with. The instant they started introducing bullshit like the "blood memories" garbage they killed any chance of anyone taking the virus thing seriously. Plus the whole concept of how Corvenus acquired the mutated blood and became immortal was never properly explained, and honestly no matter how you try to explain it, a virus that gives you the ability to change into a wolf-man hybrid at will makes no damn sense. To quote Nostalgia Critic, "Do you want midi-chlorians? THIS is how you get midi-chlorians."

Seriously killing off Michael and off screen is like saying "forget everything about the previous films" it becomes just another Resident Evil franchise an ubber powerful untouchable female heroine that gets new powers that make no sense that forces to use plot twists to keep some suspence. I hate those white haired vamps because they add a mystical bs to a film series that tried to keep itself in a scientific way(made up science but whatever) plus if their power is sooo easy and fast to obtain and master kinda makes it seem lame. Was this on fanfiction before they make it a film? Because i can forgive if it was but throwing millions of $ for this?? Why?! If it was for the money just do an actual reboot instead of this you did change the dierctors so it seems fitting.

Actually if vampire blood never coagulates, that'd mean their super healing would need to close up wounds VERY quickly as otherwise it'd all pour out of them super fast. Though I guess maybe that explains why Seline passed out so quickly after being stabbed in the first film, a stab like that wouldn't close up quickly enough so blood would constantly pour out at an alarming rate.

I actually had to watch this movie today just so I could watch this review. 4:48 - No, not at all. After all, the filmmakers doesn't give two shits about their own universe as established ever since Movie 2, the *worst* of them all. Seriously. Underworld Evolution was the most generic piece of shit title with a boring fucking plot I couldn't give two shits about. 14:35 - I mean, that is a re-occuring thing in Vampire mythos. Just as Vampires cannot be in water. It's just that every fiction likes to pick what they want, like candy from a store. And with strange eons, vampire sparkle in sunlight... - shudder - 25:04 - lolol I called him Yeti Monster :P 26:40 - I assumed she did that because Marius wouldn't be able to kill her completely since she's under the ice, and the cold would 'freeze' her body long enough for the other Vampires to recover her and give her that .. tradition? 28:35 - Duh, she wants that doggy style. That's how stupid the entire Underworld series is. If they can make the stupdiest decision, they will make the stupidest nonsensical decision. 31:20 - Yeah the scene had zero tension. It was silly. 36:00 - Actually the best part about this movie, is that it *FINALLY* killed the series! Mostly anyhow.

Ye with climate thing I think they were going for "Vampires are already cold-blooded so they don't need it to be warm!", entirely ignoring that even so they would need to also be filled with anti-freeze to stop them waking up literally rock solid as they would freeze quicker than ward blooded creatures as they start off cold already. I mean honestly this is something all vampire films and books seems to ignore from what I've seen so maybe we are just to assume that vampires produce natural anti-freeze, or they just inject that on the side along with drinking blood.

And as for the final battle... was anybody else thinking "a fire would sort this quickly"...just start a fire at dawn and bam they no longer have a place to hide so are forced to burn in fire or burn in the sun, but I guess there's basically no counter to that so they couldn't do it. Well except I guess we are shown that a coat counters the sun thing... so really the sun isn't actually that much of an issue, I mean they may as well have gone for the blade angle and they can wear suntan lotion to wander in the sun as they like.

Well, I just had another thought. What about a review of Luc Besson's Joan of Arc film, The Messenger? It was explicitly made as a vehicle to further the career of Besson and his then-wife Milla Jovovich, and it is clear that Joan's life is not approached with reverence, respect or interest, especially when he invents a completely new and absurd motivation for her actions and has an implicit move to debunk her sainthood. Besson seems to belong to the Christopher Hitchens school of atheism, in refusing to credit faith for anything worthwhile. That said, the massive liberties (with surprise, out of nowhere, rendering of very specific incidents with astonishing accuracy) would be forgivable if the film was well put together and the narrative was still compelling, like with Braveheart, but it isn't. For a film that's just 2 1/2 hours, it feels strangely bloated, weighed down by hubris and self-importance.
