8:07 ACTUALLY. Fun fact, the idea of not being able to see Vampires in mirrors was because mirrors used to be made using silver and since that’s a holy metal it would not show their reflection. I’ve always taken that as their mere image being burned by the silver in the mirror

On top of that, they create more by taking certain human and replacing our blood with theirs.

Long black coats is a goth thing I love gothic fashion and aesthetics. But I also love emotion and relatable characters which is sadly lacking in a lot of these kinds of movies. Gothic things can actually be really good not just boring angst. I'd like to see more gothic and vampire movies that realise this.
@Khenfu_Cake5 жыл бұрын
It's kinda ironic since goth culture and the media that sprang from it was all about exploring pathos and not just dress in black and be all boring angst, as you put it, just for the sake of it.
@Sam-Lawry5 жыл бұрын
If you have some great 'goth/fetish' movies. I like the fetish latex,rubber catsuit,but sensual stuff are not enough to make a character,even a hypnotic one. I remember some old Hammer,Giallo,Dellamorte Dellamore,Bitten,Lost girl,the crow,Addams family,Elvira,interview with a vampire...
@MidnightEkaki5 жыл бұрын
@@Sam-Lawry Not a movie or traditional gothic but I love the anime Hellsing Ultimate. Lots of energy and emotion despite the gothic & vampire themes. I particularly loved the Interview With the Vampire, books and movie. Although there is some 'boring angst' in it, it actually feels earned as the series explores the lives of vampires including the highs and lows and the cost of immortality in a lot of depth and was one of the first pieces of fiction to explore the idea of the vampire in a non-corny and conventional way. Lestat is a fun character.
@ThreadBomb5 жыл бұрын
What's the difference between boring angst and interesting angst? Is it just quality of acting?
@MidnightEkaki5 жыл бұрын
@@ThreadBomb Well Im just using the term boring angst to refer to things like dull colours with characters staring sadly out the window talking about their sadness and pain (for example Bella Swan from Twilight). What makes it boring is when you dont care about the character or their problems because thats pretty much all there is to them. A real human has a range of emotions and personality and you need to show those sides to feel attachment to them (as Doug says in this review). You can have angsty themes and scenes but they should be earned and more balanced out. That way it actually has an impact and meaning and makes it interesting. For example if youve seen the show Daredevil on Netflix. Matt Murdock is an angsty dude often and the show is gritty, but you also see other sides of his personality and theres also more light hearted scenes. His character is well developed and the show takes you through his thoughts and experiences so you know where the angst is coming from so it makes you care about how he feels.

Viktor isn't an average vampire. The dude took half a lycan's face off with a punch and saw transformed ones as a minor inconvenience. The fact that Michael did so well as a neophyte hybrid shows just how powerful a hybrid is. We later see how powerful hybrids are in the sequel with Michael being a little more used to his power and with Markus absolutely annihilating everything in his path. So yeah. @@p11_studios In fairness, the Lycans are more dangerous up-close than the Vampires are. Plus in some aspects, the Lycans want to 'instant kill' which is why the movie created "UV rounds". The "idea" anywho was to keep the existence of Lycans and Werewolves out of human awareness. In most games or I guess concepts, Vampires try to keep a downlow on their presence or else.. well. They'd be hunted. The same with the Lycans. In modern age I would think it's a bit harder to take out humanity if they tried taking them on melee while being blasted with heavy artillery weapons. Viktor and Michael were 'special cases'. Viktor was the only one strong enough that was around that 'could' kill a modern-day Lycan with his bare hand. Michael is well. Both.
