"Undiagnosed neurodivergence is like being handed a video game that has been set to hard mode, but having people tell you over and over "it's on easy, why do you keep dying?"
Diagnosis is learning the game is on hard mode. It doesn't make it easier, but you can strategize." (by artistAuDH on X)
To all the people who came to my post about ADHD being a disability saying people with ADHD just have to try harder... no. It's not about trying harder, it's about trying smarter.
People with ADHD have brain wiring that literally makes life harder for them than people without ADHD. They are living life on hard mode while you are on easy mode telling them it's not that hard.
And to those of you who have ADHD who also said its about trying harder, ask yourself this... am I just trying harder, or am I also using strategies to help me do the things I need to do? And... if I have to try harder than people who don't have ADHD, should I be judging myself for not trying hard enough?
If you have ADHD I'd love to know if this meme resonates with you. Let me know in the comments.
For me, personally, as an autistic person with executive dysfunction that has caused major issues in my life... this meme hit the nail on the head.
