In my opinion, Undyne the Undying is harder than the final final boss in genocide. Undyne's fight doesn't have a set pattern: the arrows appear randomly whereas you can learn the other fights. I still haven't beaten Undyne the Undying.

Remember the amalgamates? How injecting determination caused the monsters to stay alive, but their bodies couldn’t handle staying physical, so they melted and became amorphous? That’s why Undyne was melting when she died. Killing Undyne in a neutral run yields a similar melting scene, but in a much more heartbreaking way.

The items you find, like the tutu, ballet shoes, frying pan and bandana are from the other fallen humans. You can see them referenced in the omega flowey battle, because flowey has all those attacks like ballet shoes dancing and a frying pan
